국민학교 어린이의 보행자 교통안전교육에 관한 연구 - 교통안전 지식, 태도 및 실천을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Pedestrian Safety Education for Elementary School Children)

  • Pedestrian injury have been the most important cause of death in children 1 to 14 years of age. This study was attempted to analyze the status and factors of the pedestrian safety education for primary school children. The purpose of this study was to provide the baseline study on pedestrian safety education. The data were collected from 313 respondents of 5th grade elementary school children in Seoul during April 26 through May 6, 1993. The data were cross tabulated for percent distribution and analyzed by multiple regression using SAS for personal computer program package. Major findings are as follows: (1) 50% of the respondents had never received any safety education for Pedestrian. The primary provider of pedestrian safety education was parent. (2) Respondents' knowledge on traffic rules, traffic signals, natures of motor vehicle is high(above 88%). (3) Respondents are very negative to the attitude of playing on the street and transversing under d1e overpass(about 80%). (4) 58% of respondents had never played on the street and 49% of respondents had never run on the street. (5) Factors affecting the knowledge of traffic safety was respondents' sex and job of their mothers(p<0.05). (6) Factors affecting the attitude of traffic safety was economic status(p<0.01). (7) Factors affecting the practice of traffic safety was education of respondents' fathers. (8) The multiple regression analysis showed that sex was statistically significant in affecting traffic accident of pedestrians (p=0.05). In order to prevent children's traffic accidents, education for pedestrians' safety by both parents and teachers should be strengthened.

다차원척도법을 이용한 중학교 보건교육 교과영역 구축 및 속성 분석 (Health Education Curriculum Constructs and Dimensional Properties for Korean Middle School Students in Multidimensional Scaling Analysis)

  • Background: School is a primary health education setting for adolescents and the continuous support should be provided to renew school health education curriculum correspondent to cultural changes in Korean society. Objectives: This study was conducted to identify the principals and teachers' health education needs for their students and to analyze their conceptual map for health education curriculum at school. Methods: The sample size of the preliminary study was 321 of the teachers in elementary, middle, and high school, and that of the main study was 355 middle school principals and teachers over the country. The self-administered mailing survey was conducted to collect the available health education topics in the preliminary study, to identify the factor structure of the health education topics and to analyze the conceptual properties on health education with exploratory factor analysis and multidimensional scaling analysis in SPSS 12.0. Results: A total of 21 health education topics were collected from the preliminary survey and 31 topics were, comprehensively, generated for the main survey. In exploratory factor analysis, seven factors were generated in 1.0 or greater Eigen value standard. The seven factors were 'life health promotion,' 'disease prevention and drug control,' 'bulling and aggression prevention,' 'injury and sexual harassment prevention,' human-efficacy and regulation,' 'health protection for adolescence,' and 'alcohol and tobacco control.' The educational need scores were the highest in 'human-efficacy and regulation' and 'injury and sexual harassment prevention.' The two-dimensional cooperates were generated for the 31 health education topics and the two dimensional properties which divided the conceptual space were 'health-safety' for one and 'public/environmental-individual/personal' for the other. That is, middle school principals and teachers primarily, understand the health education curriculum in the sense of 'health vs. safety' and 'public/environmental vs individual/personal.' Conclusions: Health education curriculum and textbook should be developed based on teachers' needs and conditions for health education in school fields. The field-based health education programs or textbook would make more possible problem-solving health education for youth in real school fields.

근로자의 안전보건교육 참여도와 관련된 교육·생태학적 요인 - PRECEDE 모델을 기반으로 - (Educational and Ecological Factors Associated with Workers' Participation to Safety and Health Education at Work - Based on the PRECEDE Model -)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the educational and ecological factors (environment and infra-structure) associated with workers' participation to safety and health education at work (SHEW) based on the PRECEDE constructs. A total of 590 workers (484 in manufacturing and 106 in construction companies) finished the self-administered survey. Survey packets were delivered to the safety and health manager (SHM) in survey companies and the SHMs conducted the self-administered survey in their companies. The questionnaire includes demographics, epidemiological constructs, and educational and ecological constructs based on the PRECEDE model. Participation to SHEW was better in the manufacturing sector than in the construction sector (p<.001). Environmental, reinforcing, and enabling factors were better in the manufacturing companies than in the construction companies. Male worker, better perceived efficacy of SHEW, higher social support for SHEW, assignment of SHM at work, and better safety and health management level at work were significantly associated with workers' better participation to SHEW (p<.05). Those factors accounted for 45.9% of total variance of workers' participation to SHEW.

방사선안전관리에 대한 조사 : 의료기관 방사선조사자를 중심으로 (Study on the safety management of radiation: centering on the radiation workers in medical institutions)

  • While the use of radiation in the medical field provides diagnosis and treatment with important benefits, we cannot deny that the radiation bombing causes some hindrances. The expansion of radiation use in modem medicine is essential, so the radiation use and preparation of proper measure for safety management has risen as a pressing subject. Therefore, in order to make defensive plans for the prevention of health obstacles to general users of radiation and for the provision of basic data of the health education programs to radiation workers by grasping the knowledge, attitude and behavior towards the radiation safety management of radiation workers in each medical institution and by analyzing the factors that affect the actions of radiation safety management, in this study we conducted questionnaires from September 26 to November 5, 2001 targeting 805 radiation workers in 108 medical institutions including university hospitals, general hospitals, hospitals, clinics and public health centers etc. located in Seoul, four metropolitan cities and small and medium cities, and has obtained the following results. 1. The average point of knowledge on the radiation safety management was 10.96 out of 15. As for the general characteristics, the level of knowledge on radiation safety management was higher with older age, high education background and longer career. 2. The average point of attitude on the radiation safety management was 66.36 out of 75. The attitude point for general characteristics were higher with higher education background, longer career and in case of universities, the level of attitude on the radiation safety management was high. 3. The average of action points on the radiation safety management was 56.09 out of 75. In general characteristics, the action level of radiation safety level was higher with older age, longer career, and the reception of radiation education and in case of university hospitals. 4. It is analyzed that the relation of knowledge, attitude and behavior on the radiation safety management is higher as the levels of knowledge and attitude on the radiation safety management is higher. 5. As a result of analyzing the factors that affect the knowledge on the radiation safety management, the variables that can be explained best was in the order of ‘the behavior on the radiation safety management’, ‘work career’, ‘the attitude on the radiation safety management’, and ‘school career’. 6. As a result of analyzing the factors that affect the attitude on the radiation safety management, the variables that can be explained best was in the order of ‘the behavior on the radiation safety management’, ‘the knowledge on the radiation safety management’, and ‘school career’. 7. 중소규모 건설현장을 고려한 특별안전보건교육의 개선방안에 대한 연구 (A Study on Improvement Plans for Special Safety & Health Education Considering Small and Medium-sized Construction Sites)

  • 건설업은 타 산업 대비 재해율이 매우 높으며 안전관리자가 미선임 되는 공사금액 50억 미만의 중소규모의 건설현장의 경우에는 건설업 전체 재해율의 68%를 차지하고 있고 안전관리의 사각지대에 놓여 있어 이에 관한 관심이 필요하다. 따라서, 건설업의 재해율을 상당 부분 줄이기 위해서는 중소규모의 건설현장에 적합한 안전관리 및 교육이 필요하다, 본 연구는 기초안전보건교육 제도와의 통합 운영을 통해 중소규모 건설현장에 적합한 특별안전보건교육 제도를 개선하는 방안을 마련하고자 한다. 선행연구조사와 설문조사 방법을 통해 중소규모의 건설현장의 특별안전보건 교육의 현황 및 개선점, 기초안전보건교육와의 통합에 대한 선호도가 분석되었다.

밀폐공간작업으로 인한 건강장해예방을 위한 사업장실태 조사 (Status of Prevention on Health Obstacle in Industries with Confined Space)

  • The purpose of this study is to know the status of prevention on health obstacle in industries with confined space. Total 190 respondents, 95 safety or health managers and 95 confined space workers from 95 industries with confined space are surveyed by hygienists from April 2003, to July 2003. The contents of survey include health-work program in confined space, instrument of oxygen sampling, equipment of ventilation, safety and health education, watching manager, head count, awakening of risk, air condition and emergency training. The results are as follows: 1. It is found 38% of respondents established health-work program in confined space. The percentage of respondents with instrument of oxygen sampling and equipment of ventilation, operation of safety and health education, posting of watching man and operation of head count are 42%, 35%, 75%, 46% and 56%, respectively. 2. The percentage of awakening of risk, confirm of air condition and operation of emergency training are 36%, 25% and 15%, respectively.

Current Status and the Future of Occupational Safety and Health Legislation in Low- and Middle-Income Countries

  • This article addresses three key issues. First, the commonalities, differences, strengths, and limitations of existing occupational safety and health (OSH) legislation of low- and middle-income countries were determined. Second, required revisions were identified and discussed to strengthen the laws in accordance with the best international practice. Finally, proposals for additional OSH laws and interventions were suggested. A literature search of OSH laws of 10 selected low- and middle-income countries was carried out. The laws were subjected to uniform review criteria. Although the agricultural sector employs more than 70% of the population, most of the reviewed countries lack OSH legislation on the sector. Existing OSH laws are gender insensitive, fragmented among various government departments, insufficient, outdated, and nondeterrent to perpetrators and lack incentives for compliance. Conclusively, the legal frameworks require reformation and harmonization for the collective benefit to employees, employers, and regulatory authorities. New OSH legislation for the agricultural sector is required.

안전교육을 위한 미디어 개발 현황분석 및 추진방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on Status Analysis and Planning Strategy in Media Field for Safety Education)

  • A government needs the investment expansion for the industrial accident prevention of the disadvantage group workers in order to improve the external phase and reliability. In this study, we analyze the current status of the development for safety and health material which is necessary for education of the disadvantage group workers. Firstly we find the problems that may occur when applying in domestic safety and health management system and then we'll propose a new method for safety and health material development and supply.

장애아 전담 보육시설에서 보육교사의 응급처치교육에 대한 실태조사 (A Study on Actual Conditions of the First-Aid Education for Child-care Teachers at Daycare Center for the Disabled Children)

  • Purpose : This study was conducted to examine the degree of recognition of safety education and its execution for child-care teachers at daycare center for the disabled children in Jeollanam-do. Ninety six child care teachers filled out the questionnaire and the results were as follows. Results : 1. The possibility of accident prevention by the day care teachers was a little higher in case of nearby education institution. The most appropriate period of safety education was within one month. 2. Majority of child care teachers had received safety and first-aid educations before and the education was done for less than 2 hours. 3. The best educational method was practice-centered education of off-duty time. The contents of first-aid education were bleeding, fall, shock, and burn. 4. The education material and book should be available to the teachers when they need the knowledge. 5. By the annual schedule, safety education should be conducted and provided to the parents. Conclusion : This study suggested that reinforcement of contents related to emergency situation and actual first-aid as well as theory education in the process of parent and teacher education should be conducted on the basis of information of general conditions related to safety and first-aid education at the daycare center for the disabled children.

3-5세 누리과정에 기초한 어린이집 프로그램의 안전교육 내용 분석: 아동복지법을 기준으로 (Nuri-curriculum Daycare Programs Analysis for 3 to 5-year-olds Based on Child Welfare Act Safety Education-Based Content)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the Nuri-curriculum daycare programs for 3, 4, and 5-year-olds based on the Child Welfare Act. Methods: Data were analyzed according to the analysis criteria for 195 children's safety education programs in the Nuri-Program. The analyzed data used frequency and percentages. Results: First, life safety education was the most important element. And after looking at the contents category of the Child Welfare Act, the results in order are as follows: "raffic safety"; "Health and hygiene management, including the prevention of contagious diseases and drug abuse"; "Safety measures against disasters"; "Precaution and prevention of disappearance and abduction"; and "Prevention of sexual violence and child abuse." Second, there were many safety education activities in accordance to chronological age (3-to 5-years old). Health and safety by subject, season, and life tools were more frequent. By type of activity, conversation and language activity, fairy tales, and plays were the most common activities. Conclusion/Implications: This suggests the need to systematically plan safety education content through a program that links safety-related laws and elements related to the Nuri curriculum in child care centers.
