This paper presents the vibration and harmonic analysis of orthotropic laminated composite plate. The response of plate is determined using Finite Element Method. The eight noded shell 281 elements are used to analyze the orthotropic plates and results are obtained so that the right choice can be made in applications such as aircrafts, rockets, missiles, etc. to reduce the vibration amplitudes. Initially the model response for orthotropic plate and harmonic response for isotropic plate is verified with the available literature. The results are in good agreement with the available literature. Numerical results for the natural frequency and harmonic response amplitude are presented. Effects of boundary conditions, thickness to width ratio and number of layers on natural frequency and harmonic response of the orthographic plates are also investigated. The natural frequency, mode shape and harmonic analysis of laminated composite plate has been determined using finite element package ANSYS.
This study has been carried out to investigate the dynamic characteristics of RC slabs. For this purpose, the 20-node solid element has been used to discretize the RC slabs into two parts of concrete and rebar. The material non-linearity considering elasto-visco plastic model and the smeared crack model have been adopted in the finite element formulation. The applied load can handle step load, load intensity of harmonic load, area of distributed load and frequency. The frequency of harmonic load has an significant effect on dynamic behaviour in terms of displacement. As the frequency is increased, the effect of load amplitude is more serious. Especially, if the frequency of harmonic load exceeds 30 Hz, it is noted that the displacement by harmonic load is greater than that by step load. In case of harmonic load, the damping effect shows no certain tendency with respect to frequency of load. In details, the damping is effective when the frequency of harmonic load is 2 Hz, but there is no consistent tendency according to damping ratio. The dynamic response when the frequency of harmonic load is 3 Hz shows same result for undamped case as well as for damped case with 5% damping ratio. It is also noted that we can get the largest deflection for damped case with 1% damping ratio. However, there is not any damping effect when the frequency of harmonic load is greater than 4 Hz.
This study analyzes harmonic vibration with natural frequency according to the configuration of damper clutch. In the case of double spring, equivalent stress at same direction of the revolution at inner and outer coil spring is over 30% as compared with at its opposite direction. Natural frequency or harmonic response with maximum deformation in case of the less coil pitch is below 3Hz as compared with in case of the more coil pitch. As the coil pitch of damper spring as the case 2 or 4 becomes smaller, its mass and deformation can be large. In these cases, spring constant and natural frequency become smaller. In the case 5 or 6 of double spring at natural vibration or harmonic response, the frequency becomes over 300Hz. As the result of this study is applied by the design of damper spring, the damage at its connected part is prevented and the durability can be predicted.
With the advent of mobile phone, digital multimedia broadcasting(DMB) service is to be realized for multimedia data communication. For an acoustic part, a smaller and lighter microspeaker is also soon to be realized as an MP3 song player and a speakerphone. Sound quality in the microspeaker is becoming more important in mobile phones. It is evaluated by total harmonic distortion(THD). THD is the proportion of higher order frequencies output response to sinusoidal input signal. It is affected by uneven magnetic distribution and nonlinear response of diaphragm. In this paper, harmonic distortion is analyzed by considering magnetic and mechanical coupling effects. Simulated results of THD are compared with experimental data. Results show that THD in lower frequency range is higher due to high displace on voice coil and high mechanical response of high order frequency.

This is an investigation on the propagation characteristics of AE signal in GIS. The selection of measuring position and resonant frequency of AE sensor is one of the most important factor to optimize a diagnostic system. And natural frequency and harmonic response characteristics are indispensable to optimize those factors. So, in this investigation, we make a 3D model of 362kV GIS and make a modal and harmonic analysis to survey the vibro-acoustic property. Through the result of the analysis, we can make a further understanding on the vibro-acoustic characteristics of GIS.
This study is focused on the application of the homogenization design method (HDM) to reduce the vibration level of a structure excited by magnetic harmonic farces. This is accomplished by obtaining the optimal material distribution in a design domain to minimize the frequency response caused by the magnetic harmonic excitation. The Maxwell stress method is used to compute the magnetic force and the HDM is applied leer the optimization. The developed method is applied to a simple pole model that is excited by the harmonic bending farce caused by the current around an adjacent stator. Results shows that the HDM is valid to minimize the frequency response.
This paper proposes impedance-based stability analysis of DC-DC boost converters, where a harmonic state space (HSS) modeling technique is used. At first, the HSS model of the boost converter is developed. Then, the closed-loop output impedance of the converter is derived in frequency domain using small signal modeling including frequency couplings, where harmonic transfer function (HTF) matrices of the open-loop output impedance, the duty-to-output, and the voltage controller are involved. The frequency response of the output impedance reveals a resonance frequency at low frequency region and frequency couplings at sidebands of switching frequency which agree with the simulation and experimental result.
Forced vibration of a thin circular ring with a concentrated harmonic force is analyzed when the ring is free and has only the in-plane motion. Using the unit doublet function for external force, the governing equation is obtained and is solved by the use of Laplace transform. The exact solutions of displacement components and bending moment are obtained. In order to verify the solutions of analysis, finite element analysis is performed and the results shows good agreement. Then, frequency response curves for displacement and bending moment are obtained. In deriving the governing equations and the solutions, nondimensional parameter of the exciting frequency and the magnitude of exciting force are extracted. As the displacement components are obtained, the remaining bending strain, slope, curvature, shear force, etc. can also be derived. With the results of this work, the responses of a free ring excited on multiple points with different frequencies can also be obtained easily by superposition.
This study, analyses the seismic response for a rigid massless square foundation resting on a viscoelastic soil layer limited by rigid bedrock. The foundation is subjected either to externally applied forces or to obliquely incident seismic body or surface harmonic seismic waves P, SV and SH. A 3-D frequency domain BEM formulation in conjunction with the thin layer method (TLM) is adapted here for the solution of elastodynamic problems and used for obtained the seismic response. The mathematical approach is based on the method of integral equations in the frequency domain using the formalism of Green's functions (Kausel and Peck 1982) for layered soil, the impedance functions are calculated by the compatibility condition. In this study, The key step is the characterization of the soil-foundation interaction with the input motion matrix. For each frequency the impedance matrix connects the applied forces to the resulting displacement, and the input motion matrix connects the displacement vector of the foundation to amplitudes of the free field motion. This approach has been applied to analyze the effect of soil-structure interaction on the seismic response of the foundation resting on a viscoelastic soil layer limited by rigid bedrock.
