The horn is a key part of the ultrasonic welder. As the shape, mass and material of a horn have effects on the resonant frequency and the vibration mode in ultrasonic welding, a horn has to be designed and manufactured accurately. In this study, 40kHz band horn was designed and manufactured through the vibration mode and finite element analysis. A result of modal analysis showed that the natural frequency of the horn was 39,794Hz, and the frequency response by a harmonic response analysis was 39,800Hz - close to the intended frequency, 40kHz. In addition, weldability of the developed horn was estimated by welding of two Ni sheets and tensile-shear test of welded samples. It was shown the developed horn could be used in metal sheet welding.

The cylindrical Upper Guide Structure assembly of the reactor intervals wish the Core Support Barrel and the Inner Barrel Assembly is subjected to flow induced loads horizontally which include random pressure fluctuation due to turbulent flow and pump pulsation pressures. The purpose of this papers is to perform random vibration and harmonic response analyses fort flow induced loads. The dynamic response characteristics due to random turbulence and pump pulsation loads were evaluated using the lumped mass beam model. Especially the model considered the annulus effects due to water gaps existing between cylindrical structures such as the Upper Guide Structure Barrel, the Core Support Barrel, and the Inner Barrel Assembly. The effect of the Inner Barrel Assembly inside the Upper Guide Structure assembly was studied. The peak dynamic responses lot each loading condition due to the addition of IBA were affected by the natural frequencies of the structures. Therefore the peak dynamic responses of the structures should be conservatively obtained from evaluation of dynamic analysis for various loading conditions.

The characteristics of harmonic phase angles and phase angle differences contained in earthquake ground motions such as El Centre 1940 NS, Taft1 1952 NS, Hachinohe 1968 NS and Mexico 1985 are figured, which have been mostly overlooked in contrast with the importance placed on harmonic amplitudes. Recently, performance based design method is used for seismic design and seismic retrofitting, which needs nonlinear response analysis, there must be earthquake ground accelerations which contain the phase angle and the phase angle difference characteristics of the zone considered to be constructed building structures. To make clear the importance of phase angle differences, 4-earthquake ground motions are normalized by 200 gal and nonlinear response characteristics of normalized 4-earthquake ground motions are compared.

Time series of the dynamic response of a slender marine structure was predicted using quadratic Volterra series. The wave-structure interaction system was identified using the NARX(Nonlinear Autoregressive with Exogenous Input) technique, and the network parameters were determined through the supervised training with the prepared datasets. The dataset used for the network training was obtained by carrying out the nonlinear finite element analysis on the freely standing riser under random ocean waves of white noise. The nonlinearities involved in the analysis were both large deformation of the structure under consideration and the quadratic term of relative velocity between the water particle and structure in Morison formula. The linear and quadratic frequency response functions of the given system were extracted using the multi-tone harmonic probing method and the time series of response of the structure was predicted using the quadratic Volterra series. In order to check the applicability of the method, the response of structure under the realistic ocean wave environment with given significant wave height and modal period was predicted and compared with the nonlinear time domain simulation results. It turned out that the predicted time series of the response of structure with quadratic Volterra series successfully captures the slowly varying response with reasonably good accuracy. It is expected that the method can be used in predicting the response of the slender offshore structure exposed to the Morison type load without relying on the computationally expensive time domain analysis, especially for the screening purpose.

With the proliferation of nonlinear loads, high neutral harmonic currents in three-phase four-wire distribution system have been observed. It has been known that the ground impedance has an effect on the neutral currents of a system which operates with harmonics present. On-site measurements of harmonic currents and voltages according to the fall-of-potential method under case study system were made and the ground impedance modeling using the pattern search method for the harmonic analysis was developed The ground impedance model obtained by the proposed method was compared with the frequency characteristics by field tests and has shown appropriate results, and would be applicable to evaluate the harmonic and transient response characteristics of the ground system.

As semiconductor chips are on a small scale, large content and high integratation, it is essential to develop the device of pick and place at the system of the semiconductor test handler to ensure its high precision and durability. In this study, inspection equipment frame model of a semiconductor test handler picker was investigated by vibration analysis with the property of the natural frequency and harmonic response. As 3 kinds of analysis case models, the device of pick and place was located at the left side (Case 1), the center (Case 2) and the right side (Case 3) of the upper guideline. The range of natural frequencies until the 6th order on this frame model ranges from 80Hz to 500Hz. As the analysis of the harmonic response when the frame is resonant, Case 2 showed the maximum equivalent stress of 52.802 MPa more than Cases 1 or 3. Case 2 was the most intensive among the three cases. Using the analysis result of this study, the design of the frame model, which can be applied to the safe working environment of the system is believed to be possible.

In this paper, flow noise characteristics of Savonius-type vertical-axis wind turbines are numerically investigated using hybrid CAA techniques. High frequency harmonics as well as BPF components are identified in the predicted noise spectra from a Savonius wind turbine. As the BPF components belong to infrasound, the higher harmonic components affects human response dominantly. Further analysis is performed to investigate the reason causing the higher frequency harmonic noise by changing operational conditions of a Savonius wind turbine. Based on this result, it is revealed that the frequency of higher harmonic components is determined by the radius of blades and angular velocity of Savonius wind turbine.
Rotating systems concern with torsional vibration, and it should be considered in vibration analysis. To do this, the time-dependent torsional vibrations in a single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) under the linear and harmonic external torque, are investigated in this paper. Eringen's nonlocal elasticity theory is considered to demonstrate the nonlocality and constitutive relations. Hamilton's principle is established to derive the governing equation of motion and consequently related boundary conditions. An analytical method, called the Galerkin method, is utilized to discretize the driven differential equations. Linear and harmonic torsional loads, along with determined amplitude, are applied to the SWCNT as the external torques. SWCNT is considered under the clamped-clamped end supports. In free vibration, analysis of small scale effect reveals the capability of natural frequencies in different modes, and this results desirably are in coincidence with another study. The forced torsional vibration in the time domain, especially for carbon nanotubes, has not been done before in the previous works. The previous forced studies were devoted to the transverse vibrations. It should be emphasized that the dynamical analysis of torsion is novel, workable, and at the beginning of the path. The variations of nonlocal parameter, CNT's thickness, and the influence of excitation frequency on time-dependent angular displacement and nondimensional angular displacement are investigated in the context.
This study analyses the seismic response of a three-dimensional (3-D) rigid massless square foundation resting or embedded in a viscoelastic soil limited by rigid bedrock. The foundation is subjected to harmonic oblique seismic waves P, SV, SH and R. The key step is the characterization of the soil-foundation interaction by computing the impedance matrix and the input motion matrix. A 3-D frequency boundary element method (BEM) in conjunction with the thin layer method (TLM) is adapted for the seismic analysis of the foundation. The dynamic response of the rigid foundation is solved from the wave equations by taking into account the soil-foundation interaction. The solution is formulated using the frequency BEM with the Green's function obtained from the TLM. This approach has been applied to analyze the effect of soilstructure interaction on the seismic response of the foundation as a function of the kind of incident waves, the angles of incident waves, the wave's frequencies and the embedding of foundation. The parametric results show that the non-vertical incident waves, the embedment of foundation, and the wave's frequencies have important impact on the dynamic response of rigid foundations.

This study investigates the structural strength analysis due to rib thickness of lower arm. At structural analysis, model 1 has the most deformation by comparing three models. As most equivalent stress is shown at the part connected with wheel knuckle, the strength becomes weaker in cases of three models. At fatigue analysis, model 1 becomes most unstabilized among three models. Model 3 has most fatigue life and the next model is model 2. The range of maximum harmonic response frequencies becomes 140 to 175Hz in cases of three models. Because the critical frequency at model 3 becomes highest among three models but the stress exceeds yield stress, model 3 becomes most unstabilized at vibration durability. As models 1 and 2 has less than yield stress, these models become stabilized. Model 2 becomes most favorable by comparing three models at structural, fatigue and vibration analyses. This study result can be effectively utilized with the design of lower arm by investigating prevention against damage and its strength durability.
