  • $MnGeP_2$ thin films grown on GaAs exhibit room-temperature ferromagnetism with $T_C{\sim}$320 K, based on both magnetization and resistance measurements. The coercive fields at 5, 250, and 300 K are 3870, 1380 and 155 Oe, respectively. The anomalous Hall effect was observed, indicating spin polarization of the carriers. Hysteresis has been observed in both magnetoresistance and Hall measurements. The current-voltage characteristics of a $MnGeP_2$ film grown on an n-type GaAs substrate display semiconducting behavior.

  • Antimony (Sb) doped ZnO thin films (0.1 at.%) were deposited on sapphire (0001) substrates at various temperatures (200 - 600$^{\circ}C$) by using pulsed laser deposition technique. All the thin films have been characterized by X-ray diffractometer, atomic force microscopy and spectrophotometer to investigate their structural, morphological and optical properties, respectively. Hall measurements were also carried out to identify the electrical properties of the thin films. These thin films were constituted in wurtzite structure with the preferential orientation of (002) diffraction plane and had as high as 80% optical transmission in the visible range. The bandgap energy also was determined by spectrophotometer which was around 3.28 eV. Hall measurements results revealed that the Sb dope ZnO thin film (0.1 at.%) grown at $500^{\circ}C$ exhibited p-type conduction with a carrier concentration of $8.633\times10^{16}\;cm^{-3}$, a mobility of $1.41\;cm^2/V{\cdot}s$ and a resistivity of $51.8\;\Omega{\cdot}cm$. We have successfully achieved p-type conduction in antimony doped ZnO thin films with low doping level even though the electrical properties are not favorable. This paper suggests the feasibility of p-type doping with large-size-mismatched dopant by using pulsed laser deposition.

  • Motivated by the enhanced magnetic properties of Mg-codoped GaMnN ferromagnetic semiconductors, Be-codoped GaMnAs films were grown via molecular beam epitaxy with varying Mn flux at a fixed Be flux. The structural, electrical, and magnetic properties were investigated. GaAs:(Mn,Be) films showed metallic behavior while GaAs:Mn films showed semiconducting behavior as determined by the temperature dependent resistivity measurements. The Hall-effect measurements with varying magnetic field showed clear anomalous Hall effect up to room temperature proving ferromagnetism and magnetotransport in the GaAs:(Mn,Be) films. Planar Hall resistance measurement also confirmed the properties. The dramatic enhancement of the Curie temperature in GaMnAs system was attributed to Be codoping in the GaMnAs films as well as MnAs precipitation.

  • The purposes of this study were to determine the actual state of the indoor environment, and to analyze the relationship between the architectural or living factors and indoor physical elements in the elderly hall at apartment complexes during winter. The field surveys consisted of measurements of the physical elements, observations of living factors, and interviews with users. The field surveys were carried out at 5 halls in February 2009. The measured elements were air temperature, relative humidity, $CO_2$, CO, PM10, TVOC, HCHO, and illumination. The results showed that the averages of indoor temperature for the hall was between $22.7{\sim}25.1^{\circ}C$, relative humidity was 22.0~48.2%, $CO_2$ level was 892.4~2066.7ppm, CO level were 0~0.4ppm, PM10 level were $22.3{\sim}31.4{\mu}g/m^3$, HCHO level was 0.00~0.24ppm, and illumination level was 94~391.6lux. TVOC level was detected at 0.00~0.54ppm in only one hall. The average clothing amount of the users was 1.18clo and activity was 0.7~1.6met. It was evaluated to be a comfortable state at indoor temperature, CO level, PM10 level, and TVOC level, but an uncomfortable state at relative humidity, $CO_2$ level, HCHO level, and illumination level. The main reason seemed to be lack of ventilation.

  • We have performed measurements of the local magnetic field distribution of YBCO coated conductors using Low-temperature Scanning Hall Probe Microscopy (LT-SHPM). Distribution of stray magnetic field of various types of YBCO coated conductors in the superconducting state was measured in presence of external magnetic fields. We analyzed one dimensional and two dimensional local current distribution using inversion technique from the magnetic field distribution.

  • This study examines the influence of experiencing interactive media in exhibition halls on the satisfaction and perception for the exhibition space. Field measurements and surveys were performed in two exhibition halls where various interactive media were exhibited. Results imply that experiencing interactive media was important to enhance understanding the information provided by them. In order to improve satisfaction for the exhibition halls, the layout of space need to be organized effectively in a way that visitors easily feel interest in the contents and information exhibited in the space. Also, in order to keep better perception for exhibition space, the information provided in the space should be organized clearly and open to visitors easily. The flow of visitors' traffic in the exhibition space should be perceived easily by the visitors. Multiple linear regression indicated that the space should be organized effectively with good visual composition that surrounds the exhibits in order to improve satisfaction level for the exhibition hall. In addition, various information provided by the media contributed to improve perception for the exhibition hall.

  • Superconductor-ferromagnet thin film heterostructure is an ideal system for studying the interplay between superconductivity and ferromagnetism. These two antagonistic properties combined in thin film heterostructure create interesting proximity effects such as spin-triplet superconductivity. Thin film heterostructure of optimally doped La2-xSrxCuO4(LSCO) cuprate superconductor and SrRuO3(SRO) ruthenate ferromagnet has been grown by pulsed laser deposition. Its temperature-dependent resistivity and Hall effect measurements show that our LSCO/SRO heterostructure has both superconductivity and ferromagnetism. In the Hall effect measurement results, we find additional hump-like structures appear in the anomalous Hall effect signal in the vicinity of superconducting transition. We conclude that giant magnetoresistance of the LSCO layer distorts the AHE signal, which results in a hump-like structure.

  • We investigate Landau level spectra of twisted bilayer graphene under a perpendicular magnetic field, showing that the layers provide rich electronic structure depending on misoriented angle. New types of excitations with Landau level sequences due to the reflection of interlayer coupling level are matter of interest in the present work. We calculate the electronic structure of bilayer systems with a relative small angle rotation of the two graphene layers. Calculated Landau level spectra for twisted bilayer graphene using a continuum formulation are in good agreement with existing experimental and theoretical studies. Twist angle dependent numerical simulations provide significant insights for the nature of the Landau level spectra in bilayer graphene, combining signals from both massive and massless Dirac fermions. We finally discuss the influence of the graphene layers in the experimental sample that related to the magneto-transport measurements including quantum Hall conductance.

  • We studied the distribution of the current density and its magnetic-field dependence in GdBCO coated conductors with AC bias currents using low temperature scanning Hall probe microscopy. We selectively measured magnetic field profiles from AC signal obtained by Lock-in technique and calculated current distributions by inversion calculation. In order to confirm the AC measurement results, we applied DC current corresponding to RMS value of AC current and compared distribution of AC and DC transport current. We carried out the same measurements at various external DC magnetic fields, and investigated field dependence of AC current distribution. We notice that the AC current distribution unaffected by external magnetic fields and preserved their own path on the contrary to DC current.

  • $WSi_{x}$ film deposited on p+ polysilicon by low pressure chemical vapor deposition method were annealed by rapid thermal process, their properties have been investigated by measurements of electrical resistivity and Hall voltage and by analyses of phases and microstructure using X-ray diffraction and SEM technique. The electrical resistivity of the polycides consisting of the tungsten silicide and the p+ polysilicon decreases with the increase in annealing temperature due probably to the increase in grain size. unlike the polycides consisting of the $WSi_{x}$ and n+ polysilicon, however, the Hall voltage of the polycides consisting of $WSi_{x}$ and p+ polysilicon were positive for all specimens annealed as well as the as-deposited one, indicating the majority carrier in $WSi_{x}$. is hole and is independent of the annealing.
