  • An effective do-blurring algorithm is proposed to remove the blur of the even and the odd line images of the interlaced scan type camera. n the object or the camera moves fast while the interlaced scan type digital camera is acquiring images, blur is often created due to the misalignment between two images of even and odd lines. In this paper, the blurred original image is separated into the even and the odd line images of the half size. Two full sized images are generated using interpolation technique based on these two in ages. Again, these images are signed and combined through the processes of feature extraction, matching, sub-pixel matching, outlier removal, and mosaicking. De-blurring simulations about the images of different camera motions have been done.

  • If the interlaced scan type camera moves while an image is filming from the camera, blur is often created from the misalignment of the two images of even and odd lines. This paper proposed an algorithm which removes the misalignment of the even and odd line images cased by the vibration of the interlaced scan type camera. The blurred original image is separated into the even and the odd line images as half size. Based on these two images, two full sized images are generated using interpolation technique. If a big difference between these two interpolated images is generated, the original image is taken while the camera is moving. In this case, a deblurred image is obtained with the alignment of these separated two images through feature point extraction, feature point matching, sub-pixel matching, outlier detection, and image mosaicking processes. This paper demonstrated that the proposed algorithm can create clear images from blurred images caused by various camera motions.

  • The paper proposes a motion estimation (ME) technique to reduce computational complexity. It is achieved by skipping ME process for macro-blocks decided to be in no need of the operation. Thus, it is called ME skipping technique(MEST). In general, the ME is composed of integer pixel precision ME (IME) followed by half pixel precision ME (HME). The MEST is performed just before an IME process and makes a decision on skipping the IME process according to a criterion based on ME errors of adjacent macro-blocks (MBs) already encoded. When the IME process for a MB is decided to be skipped, which is called ME skip mode, the IME process is skipped and the integer pixel precision motion vector of the MB is just replaced by a predicted vector and used as the input of HME. On the other hands, the IME processes for MBs in ME non-skip mode are not skipped but normally performed. Accordingly, the MEST is very effective to reduce computational complexity when MBs in ME skip mode is abundant. In addition, when the MEST is applied to video encoder, it contributes to more accurate rate control and more robusaess for channel errors. It is experimentally shown that the MEST has the above advantages while maintaining good reconstructed image quality.

  • The aim of this series of experiments was to examine the opportunity for application of X-ray computer tomography (CT) in cattle production. Firstly, tissue composition of M. longissimus dorsi (LD) cuts between the $11-13^{th}$ ribs (in Exp 1. between the $9-11^{th}$ ribs), was determined by CT and correlated with tissue composition of intact half carcasses prior to dissection and tissue separation. Altogether, 207 animals of different breeds and genders were used in the study. In Exp. 2 and 3, samples were taken from LD cuts, dissected and chemical composition of muscle homogenates was analysed by conventional procedures. Correlation coefficients were calculated among slaughter records, tissues in whole carcasses and tissue composition of rib samples. Results indicated that tissue composition of rib samples determined by CT closely correlated with tissue composition results by dissection of whole carcasses. The findings revealed that figures obtained by CT correlate well with the dissection results of entire carcasses (meat, bone, fat). Close three-way coefficients of correlation (r = 0.80-0.97) were calculated among rib eye area, volume of cut, pixel-sum of adipose tissue determined by CT and intramuscular fat or adipose tissue in entire carcasses. Estimation of tissue composition of carcasses using equations including only CT-data as independent variables proved to be less reliable in prediction of lean meat and bone in carcass ($R^2 = 0.51-0.86$) than for fat (($R^2 = 0.83-0.89$). However, when cold half carcass weight was also included in the equation, the coefficient of determination exceeded $R^2 = 0.90$. In Exp. 3 tissue composition of rib samples by CT were compared to the results of EUROP carcass classification. Findings revealed that CT analysis has higher predictive value in estimation of actual tissue composition of cattle carcasses than EUROP carcass classification.

  • We analyzed the aspheric and/or diffractive surface effects to the performance in the long wavelength infrared (8-12 $\mu$m). Also we investigated the dependence of the NA values for the fixed effective focal length 100 mm when the field angle was varied from 5 degrees to 30 degrees stepped by 5 degrees. We chose the merit function as a criteria to compare the performance of the different lenses. Based on the analysis of the aspheric and/or diffractive surface effects, we designed the optical system of F/l.0 for the uncooled thermal imaging system. As for detector the pixel size was 45 $\mu$m square and the number of pixels were a 320${\times}$240 pixels.

  • When we detect side-view face in color image, we decide a candidate face region using skin-tone color, and confirm to the face by template matching. Cang Wei use a left and a right template of face, calculate to similarity value by hausdorff method, and decide the final side-view face. It has a characteristic that side-view face is wide spreading neck region. To get exactly result, face region is separated vertically by 3 pixel unit, and matched template. In this paper, we assume that a side-view face is a right side-view or a left side-view face. We separate a half of the candidate face region vertically, and regard a left side as left candidate face, a right side as right candidate face by template matching. This method detect faster than Gang Wei method.

  • The voltages for pixel electrodes on LCD panels are supplied with analog voltages from LCD Driver ICs (LDIs). The latest LDI developed for large LCD TV's has suffered from the degradation of analog output characteristics (target voltage: AVO and output voltage deviation: dVO). By the failure analysis, humps in $I_D-V_G$ curves have been observed in high voltage (HV) NMOS devices for input transistors in amplifiers. The hump is investigated to be the main cause of the deviation for the driving current in HV NMOS transistors. It also makes the matching between two input transistors worse and consequently aggravates the analog output characteristics. By simply modifying the active layout of HV NMOS transistors, this hump was removed and the analog characteristics (AVO &dVO) were improved significantly. In the help of the improved analog characteristics, it also became possible to reduce the size of the input transistors less than a half of conventional transistors and significantly improve the integration density of LDIs.

  • This paper concerns a design of programmable MPEG decoder for video processing by object unit on network. The decoder can process video data effectively by a embedded controller with stack buffers for supporting OOP (Object-Oriented Programming). The controller offers extended instructions that process several data types including 32bit integer type. In addition to that, we have a vector processor, in this decoder that can execute advanced compensation and prediction by half pixel and SA(Shape Adaptive)-IDCT of MPEG-4. Absolutors and halfers in the vector processor make this architecture extensive to a encoder. We verified the decoder with $0.6\mu\textrm{m}$ 5-Volt CMOS COMPASS library.

  • In this study, the MgO thin-film passivation layer was adopted to protect passive matrix organic light emitting diode(PMOLED) with the cathode separator from moisture and oxygen. Using the substrate rotate and tilt technique during the deposition, the organic and cathode layers were perfectly covered with MgO. And then, we analyzed the difference of the current-voltage and luminescence characteristics between passivated OLED of the MgO and non-passivated OLED. It was found that the number of dark spot generated from the degradated pixel was decreased owing to the Mgo thin-film passivation layer using the tilt & rotate technique. And the half-life time passivated OLED was improved two times more. Thus, the MgO could be vaccum-deposited under the low temperature and had a merit that the organic layer was not much affected. We can consider that MgO thin film passivation method can be adopted to protect the OLED from moisture and oxygen and can offer the enhancement of lifetime.

  • The QM-Coder based on the recommandation of the JBIG committee has been studied for applying it to G3 FAX. In the point of view of implementation. the QM-Coder is modified to have following properties : 1) initialized at each start of the new line for protecting the error propagation, 2) pixel context for error estimation, fill bit insertion to meet minimum scan line time of 10 msec. and it is found that the modified QM-Coder is useful for encoding half tone images for low end G3 FAX machine, For higher compression ration than QM-Coder in encoding of the image binarized by ordered orther thchniques, a rearranging process before applying the QM-Coder is used and the resultant compression ratic was increased 1.13∼1.31 times than that of the conventional QM-Coder.
