Free vascularized fibular transplantation is one of the most useful living bone reconstructive procedure in microsurgical field. Concerning about donor site morbidity, the donor has minor problems of ankle stability and muscle power weakness and transient peroneal nerve symptoms. That problems can be minimized with longitudinal splitted osteotomy on the donor fibula if the bone defect in recipient site is not so large. Half splitted fibula with peroneal arterial pedicle which contains nutrient artery and periosteal vessels, grafted bone can survive with those vascular supplies. Authors underwent five cases of half splitted free vascularized fibular transplantation from 1985. There were no evidence of devascularization in all cases, we can minimized donor morbidity with leaving half fibula intact on donor site. The problem of that technique is technically demanding in longitudinal splitting of bone without damage to peroneal nutrient vessels and periosteal soft tissues which attached to the bone. Authors can propose longitudinal half fibular transplantation is one of modification in free vascularized bone transplantation that minimize donor defect.
Let $M=H_1{\cup}_SH_2$ be a Heegaard splitting of a 3-manifold M, D be an essential disk in $H_1$ and A be an essential annulus in $H_2$. Suppose D and A intersect in one point. First, we show that a Heegaard splitting admitting such a (D, A) pair satisfies the disjoint curve property, yet there are infinitely many examples of strongly irreducible Heegaard splittings with such (D, A) pairs. In the second half, we obtain another Heegaard splitting $M=H'_1{\cup}_{S'}H'_2$ by removing the neighborhood of A from $H_2$ and attaching it to $H_1$, and show that $M=H'_1{\cup}_{S'}H'_2$ also has a (D, A) pair with $|D{\cap}A|=1$.
In the beginning of the germination of Castanea creata seeds, seedlings with identical genetic characteristics from only one seed were produced by longitudinally splitting the radicle and epicotyl in half with a razor blade. The results are summarized as follows: 1. 2-8 genetically identical Castanca crenata seedlings were produced by longitudinally splitting the radicles and epicotyles from one to four in number in half with a razor blade 1-3 times about 7 days apart, while the seeds were germinating. 2. The proportion of success of splitting seedlings was very high (90-100%). When some of the spliting seedlings were withered a sprout appeared again and it was possible the seedling to revive. 3. The production rate, growth and T/R rate of seedlings which were split only once were lower that those of the seedlings which were split several times. 4. The growth and T/R rate of split seedlings which were one of no more than four seedlings produced from one seed showed no difference in comparison with normal seedlings, but in seedlings which were one of more than four, the growth and T/R rate were considerably decreased. 5. With the progress of growth, the external shapes of splitting seedlings completely returned to the original state, and no problems in growth, were found.

In this paper a large scale direct tension test of plain concrete is represented. Two independently controlled actuators were used to ensure a homogeneous tensile field and to avoid secondary flexural stresses. Fracture energies evaluated by a classical prediction equation and this test are compared. The result indicated that the classical prediction equation is not adequate to predict the fracture energy of large sized specimens. From this test, it was determined that the fracture energy obtained from large scale direct tension tests is significantly higher than the one obtained in wedge splitting tests on laboratory sized specimens. But the tensile strength was about half the value determined from splitting tensile strength test with cylindrical specimens.
Radiation generating devices must be properly shielded for their safe application. Although institutes such as US National Bureau of Standards and National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP) have provided guidelines for shielding X-ray tube of various purposes, industry people tend to rely on 'Half Value Layer (HVL) method' which requires relatively simple calculation compared to the case of those guidelines. The method is based on the fact that the intensity, dose, and air kerma of narrow beam incident on shielding wall decreases by about half as the beam penetrates the HVL thickness of the wall. One can adjust shielding wall thickness to satisfy outside wall dose or air kerma requirements with this calculation. However, this may not always be the case because 1) The strict definition of HVL deals with only Intensity, 2) The situation is different when the beam is not 'narrow'; the beam quality inside the wall is distorted and related changes on outside wall dose or air kerma such as buildup effect occurs. Therefore, sometimes more careful research should be done in order to verify the effect of shielding specific radiation generating device. High energy X-ray tubes which is operated at the voltage above 400 kV that are used for 'heavy' nondestructive inspection is an example. People have less experience in running and shielding such device than in the case of widely-used low energy X-ray tubes operated at the voltage below 300 kV. In this study, Air Kerma value per week, outside concrete shielding wall of various thickness surrounding 450 kVp X-ray tube were calculated using MCNP simulation with the aid of Geometry Splitting method which is a famous Variance Reduction technique. The comparison between simulated result, HVL method result, and NCRP Report 147 safety goal $0.02mGy\;wk^{-1}$ on Air Kerma for the place where the public are free to pass showed that concrete wall of thickness 80 cm is needed to achieve the safety goal. Essentially same result was obtained from the application of HVL method except that it suggest the need of additional 5 cm concrete wall thickness. Therefore, employing the result from HVL method calculation as an conservative upper limit of concrete shielding wall thickness was found to be useful; It would be easy, economic, and reasonable way to set shielding wall thickness.

The stochiometric mix of evaporating materials for the CuGaSe$_2$ single crystal thin films was prepared from horizontal furnace. To obtain the single crystal thin films, CuGaSe$_2$ mixed crystal was deposited on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate by the Hot Wall Epitaxy (HWE) system. The source and substrate temperature were 610$^{\circ}C$ and 450$^{\circ}C$, respectively The crystalline structure of single crystal thin films was investigated by the photoluminescence and double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXD). From the photocurrent spectrum by illumination of perpendicular light on the c-axis of the CuGaSe$_2$ single crystal thin film, we have found that the values of spin orbit splitting Δ So and the crystal field splitting ΔCr were 91 meV and 249.8 meV at 20 K, respectively. From the Photoluminescence measurement on CuGaSe$_2$ single crystal thin film, we observed free excition (Ex) existing only high quality crystal and neutral bound exiciton (D$^{\circ}$,X) having very strong peak intensity. Then, the full-width-at-half-maximum(FWHM) and binding energy 7f neutral acceptor bound excision were 8 meV and 35.2 meV, respectivity. By Haynes rule, an activation energy of impurity was 355.2 meV
A stoichiometric mixture of evaporating materials for ZnGa₂Se₄single crystal thin films was prepared from horizontal furnace. To obtain the single crystal thin films, ZnGa₂Se₄mixed crystal was deposited on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate by the Hot Wall Epitaxy (HWE) system. The source and substrate temperatures were 610℃ and 450℃, respectively. The crystalline structure of the single crystal thin films was investigated by the photoluminescence and double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXD). The carrier density and mobility of ZnGa₂Se₄single crystal thin films measured from Hall effect by von der Pauw method are 9.63×10/sup 17/㎤ and 296 ㎠/V·s at 293 K, respectively. From the photocurrent spectrum by illumination of perpendicular light on the c-axis of the ZnGa₂Se₄single crystal thin film, we have found that the values of spin orbit splitting △so and the crystal field splitting Δcr were 251.9meV and 183.2 meV at 10 K, respectively. From the photoluminescence measurement on th ZnGa₂Se₄single crystal thin film, we observed free excition (Ex) existing only high quality crystal and neutral bound exiciton (A°, X) having very strong peak intensity. Then, the full-width-at-half-maximum (FWHM) and binding energy of neutral acceptor bound excition were 11 meV and 24.4 meV, respectivity. By Haynes rule, an activation energy of impurity was 122 meV.
The stochiometric mix of evaporating materials for the $CdGa_2Se_4$ single crystal thin films was prepared from horizontal furnace. To obtain the single crystal thin films, $CdGa_2Se_4$ mixed crystal was deposited on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate by the Hot Wall Epitaxy (HWE) system. The source and substrate temperature were $630^{\circ}C$ and $420^{\circ}C$, respectively. The crystalline structure of single crystal thin films was investigated by the photoluminescence and double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXD). The carrier density and mobility of $CdGa_2Se_4$ single crystal thin films measured from Hall effect by van der Pauw method are $8.27{\times}10^{17}cm^{-3}$, $345\;cm^2/V{\cdot}s$ at 293 K, respectively. From the photocurrent spectrum by illumination of perpendicular light on the c-axis of the $CuInSe_2$ single crystal thin film, we have found that the values of spin orbit splitting ${\Delta}So$ and the crystal field splitting ${\Delta}Cr$ were 106.5 meV and 418.9 meV at 10 K, respectively. From the photoluminescence measurement on $CdGa_2Se_4$ single crystal thin film, we observed free excition ($E_x$) existing only high quality crystal and neutral bound exiciton ($D^{\circ}$, X) having very strong peak intensity. Then, the full-width-at -half-maximum(FWHM) and binding energy of neutral donor bound excition were 8 meV and 13.7 meV, respectivity. By Haynes rule, an activation energy of impurity was 137 meV.
Ring beam is the main anchorage zone of the tendons in the nuclear power prestressed concrete containment vessel (PCCV). Its safety is crucial and has a great influence on the overall performance of PCCV. In this paper, two half-scale ring beams were tested to investigate the mechanical performance of the anchorage zone in the PCCV under multidirectional pressure. The effect of working condition with different tension sequences was investigated. Additionally, a half axisymmetric plane model of the containment was established by the finite element simulation to further predict the experimental responses and propose the local reinforcement design in the anchorage zone of the ring beam. The results showed that the ultimate load of the specimens under both working conditions was greater than the nominal ultimate tensile force. The original reinforcement design could meet the bearing capacity requirements, but there was still room for optimization. The ring beam was generally under pressure in the anchorage area, while the splitting force appeared in the under-anchor area, and the spalling force appeared in the corner area of the tooth block, which could be targeted for local strengthening design.
Amorphous $Fe_{83}B_9Nb_7Cu_1$ alloy has been studied by M$\"{o}$ssbauer spectroscopy. Revised Vincze method was used and distributions of hyperfine field, isomer shift, and quadrupole line broadening of the sample at various temperatures have been evaluated and Curie temperature and $H_{hf}\;(0)$ were calculated to be 393 K and 231 kOe, respectively. Temperature variation of reduced average hyperfine field shows a flattered curvein comparison with the Brillouin curve for S=1. This behavior can be explained on the basis of Handrich molecular field model, in which the parameter Δ, which is a measure of fluctuation in exchange interactions, is assumed to have the temperature dependence ${Delta}=0.75-0.64{\tau}+0.47{\tau}^2$ where $\tau$ is $T/T_C$. At low temperature, the average hyperfine field can be fitted to $H_{hf}\;(T)=H_{hf}\;(0)\;[1-0.44\;(T/T_C)^{3/2}-0.28(T/T_C)^{5/2}-… ]$, which indicates the presence long wave length spin wave excitations. At temperature near TC, reduced average hyperfine field varies as $1.00\;[1-T/T_C]^{0.39}$. It is also found that half-width of the hyperfine field distribution was 102 kOe (3.29 mm/s) at 13 K and decreased monotonically as temperature increased. Above the Curie temperature, an average quadrupole splitting value of 0.43 mm/s was found. Average line broadening due to quadrupole splitting distribution was 0.31 mm/s at 13 K and decreases monotonically to 0.23 mm/s at 320 K, whereas that due to the isomer shift distribution is 0.1 mm/s at 13 K and 0.072 mm/s at 320 K, which is much smaller than that of both hyperfine field and quadrupole splitting. The temperature dependence of the isomer shift can be fitted within the harmonic approximation to a Deybe model with a Debye temperature ${Theta}_D=424{\pm}5K$.TEX>.
