Pulse-Grouping Control Method for High power Density DC/DC Converters

  • The proposed method offers an improved DC/DC converter scheme to increase power density. It is based on half-bridge topology with newly introduced pulse-grouping control method, which helps to reduce the transformer size and the volume of semiconductor devices maintaining high efficiency. Test results with 85W(18.5V/4.6A) design shows that the measured efficiency is 93.5% with power density of $36W/in^3$.

  • This paper proposes the operation scheme and control method for a four-level hybrid half-bridge flying-capacitor inverter (4L-HHBFCI). With in-phase disposition level-shifted modulation (IPD), the flying capacitor voltage ripple is less than 1% of the reference value, while the line-to-line voltage total harmonic distortion is 23.27% at unity modulation index. The performance and effectiveness of the proposed inverter operation have been verified by simulation results.

Analysis, Design and Implementation of an Interleaved Single-Stage AC/DC ZVS Converters

  • An interleaved single-stage AC/DC converter with a boost converter and an asymmetrical half-bridge topology is presented to achieve power factor correction, zero voltage switching (ZVS) and load voltage regulation. Asymmetric pulse-width modulation (PWM) is adopted to achieve ZVS turn-on for all of the switches and to increase circuit efficiency. Two ZVS half-bridge converters with interleaved PWM are connected in parallel to reduce the ripple current at input and output sides, to control the output voltage at a desired value and to achieve load current sharing. A center-tapped rectifier is adopted at the secondary side of the transformers to achieve full-wave rectification. The boost converter is operated in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) to automatically draw a sinusoidal line current from an AC source with a high power factor and a low current distortion. Finally, a 240W converter with the proposed topology has been implemented to verify the performance and feasibility of the proposed converter.

  • 최근 고급차의 헤드라이트용 램프로 메탈핼라이드 램프가 사용되어지면서 자동차의 고급스런 분위기와 많은 광량으로 인하여 사물의 판독이 용이하여 특히 야간 운전시 많은 사람의 안전에 기여하고 있다[1][2][3]. 그러나 현재까지 국내에게 개발된 안정기는 신뢰도 및 안정성이 낮기 때문에 고가에 수입하여 일부 차에만 적용되고 있는 상태이다[4]. 본 논문은 자동차 헤드라이트용 전자식 안정기에 관한 내용을 다루었다. 전자식 안정기의 구성은 플라이백 컨버터, 하프브리지 인버터, 램프 이그니션을 위한 이그나이터 부분으로 이루어졌다. HID 램프가 가지는 음향공명 현상을 피하기 위해서 400(Hz)의 구형파로 램프를 동작 시켰으며, 램프 점등 초기에 더 많은 에너지를 램프에 공급하는 방법으로 램프 동작 주파수를 가변시키는 방법과 동시에 램프 점등 상태를 안정화를 위한 상태 천이 전류 공급 회로를 사용하였다. 본 논문의 확인 및 평가는 12[V] 축전지와 35[W] HID 램프를 사용해서 확인하였다.

  • This paper presents the control algorithm of a single-phase AC/DC/AC PWM converter for the linear compressor of a refrigerator. The AC/DC/AC converter consists of a full-bridge PWM converter for the control of the input power factor and a half-bridge PWM inverter for the control of the single-phase linear compressor. At the DC-link of this topology, two capacitors are connected in series. These DC-link voltages must be balanced for safe operation. Thus, a new control method of DC voltage balancing for the half-bridge PWM inverter is proposed. The balancing algorithm uses the Integral-Proportional controller and inserts the DC-offset current at the Proportional-Resonant current controller of the inverter to solve the DC-link unbalanced voltages between the two capacitors. The proposed algorithm can be easily implemented without much computation and additional hardware circuit. The usefulness of the proposed algorithm is verified through several experiments.

  • 본 논문에서는 새로운 하프브리지 공진형 인버터 토폴로지와 디지털 제어회로를 제안하였다. 제안된 인버터는 부하환류 모드를 제공함으로써 펄스폭 변조방식을 통해 출력을 제어할 수 있다. 따라서 부하측 고유 공진주파수를 추종하는 PWM 제어가 적용될 경우, 부하측 임피던스가 변화하는 조건하에서도 인버터 출력단의 변위율을 항상 1로 유지할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 제안된 하프브리지 공진형 인버터의 동작원리와 전기적 특성 및 통상의 하프브리지 인버터와 비교한 손실해석에 대하여 고찰하였고, 제안된 알고리즘을 구현하기 위한 디지털 제어회로를 제시하였다. 또한 제안된 인버터의 유효성을 확인하기 위한 실험을 통해서 얻은 결과를 제시하였다.

A Novel Prototype of Duty Cycle Controlled Soft-Switching Half-Bridge DC-DC Converter with Input DC Rail Active Quasi Resonant Snubbers Assisted by High Frequency Planar Transformer

  • This paper presents a new circuit topology of active edge resonant snubbers assisted half-bridge soft switching PWM inverter type DC-DC high power converter for DC bus feeding power plants. The proposed DC-DC power converter is composed of a typical voltage source-fed half-bridge high frequency PWM inverter with a high frequency planar transformer link in addition to input DC busline side power semiconductor switching devices for PWM control scheme and parallel capacitive lossless snubbers. The operating principle of the new DC-DC converter treated here is described by using switching mode equivalent circuits, together with its unique features. All the active power switches in the half-bridge arms and input DC buslines can achieve ZCS turn-on and ZVS turn-off commutation transitions. The total turn-off switching losses of the power switches can be significantly reduced. As a result, a high switching frequency IGBTs can be actually selected in the frequency range of 60 kHz under the principle of soft switching. The performance evaluations of the experimental setup are illustrated practically. The effectiveness of this new converter topology is proved for such low voltage and large current DC-DC power supplies as DC bus feeding from a practical point of view.

단상 태양광 발전용 고효율 벅부스트 하프브리지 인버터 (A High-efficiency Buck-boost Half-bridge Inverter for Single-phase Photovoltaic Generation)

  • 태양광 패널의 큰 기생 커패시턴스에 기인하는 과도한 누설 전류를 피하기 위한 단상 태양광 인버터 중에 부스트 컨버터와 하프브리지 인버터를 종속적으로 결합하는 방식은 가장 단순하면서 누설 전류가 가장 작다. 하지만 직류단 전압이 높아 스위칭 소자의 정격 전압이 높고 스위칭 손실이 크다. 본 논문은 부스트 컨버터를 제거하는 대신에 하프브리지 인버터의 출력 측에 2개의 양방향 스위치를 추가함으로써 벅부스트 인버터로 동작할 수 있는 새로운 회로 토폴로지를 제안한다. 고전압 직류단을 거치는 두 단계의 전력 변환을 한 단계로 줄인 덕분에 전력 손실을 절감할 수 있으며 비용 및 누설 전류는 증가하지 않는다. 제안된 회로 토폴로지의 타당성은 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 및 전력 손실 계산을 통해 검증한다.

  • This paper deals with novel electronic ballast based on single-stage power processing topology using a symmetrical half-bridge inverter and current injection circuit. The half-bridge inverter drives the output parallel resonant circuit and injects current through the power factor correction (PFC) circuit. Because of high frequency current injection and high frequency modulated voltage, the proposed circuit maintains the unity power factor (UPF) with low THD even under wide variation in ac input voltage. This circuit needs minimum and lower sized components to achieve the UPF and high efficiency. This leads to an increase in reliability of ballast at low cost. Furthermore, to reduce cost, the electronic ballast is designed for two series-connected fluorescent lamps (FL). The analysis and experimental results are presented for ($2{\times}36$ Watt) fluorescent lamps operating at 50 kHz switching frequency and input line voltage (230 V, 50 Hz).

  • In this paper, the 170W LLC half bridge DC-DC converter is designed for the lighting management system. The power conversion circuit consists of PFC and isolated LLC resonant converter. The topology of LLC half bridge resonant converter provides ZVS characteristic. And the stresses of voltage and current is smaller than that of the general resonant converters. So we can expect the higher efficiency. The optimal conditions for high efficiency were investigated through by experiment.
