The purpose of this research was to see through the special qualities and prospects I different localities as to compare the actual conditions of clothes for everyday wear of the city with the town. The results investigated the style of dress in Deajeon city and youseong town throughout Winter, Spring, and Summer were as follows: 1) In hair style, commonly throughout Winter, Spring, summer, permanent style was superior in number as compared with the chignon In youseong, throughout Winter and Spring, chignon far out-numbered permanent one. 2) In winter, while citizens wore more half coats than long ones, the townsfolk had long coats on as many as that. In Spring and Summer, people dressed in blouse were shown aplenty both Deajeon and youseong and it was the latter that became more and more conspicuous I Summer. The degrees of wearing korean clothing were shown at a high rate in youseong I Spring. In both regions, throughout the year, adjusting themselves forward was of frequent occurrence. 3) In Winter and Spring, both of them put long skirts on and in Summer put normal skirts to frequent use respectively. jean pants were shown in Daejeon remarkable in spring, while the townsfolk wore Mon-pae and korean clothing. 4) throughout Spring and Summer, slippers were frequent use commonly in both regions. And in Spring, people put on more Ko Mu, sin than shoes, especially in youseong. The downward-phase shoestype has been shown markedly in both regions but Daejeon has shown a sharp contrast to youseong.

Rococo, which is represented as immoderate pleasure and luxurious aristocratism, had required to be liberal and unconventional in art and life, and the hairstyles were also much more fantastic, huge, and splendid than ever. Women's hairstyles in the early 18th century were the relatively simple style of Pompadour style that didn't inflate hairs and combed them backward. Then, as changes in haristyles began to appear in around 1760, the styles became gradually higher and huger, and very queer styles also appeared. In the 1780s, they ornamented these hairdos by using various things. This can be considered as women's behaviors that showed off their status and wealth instead of their husbands. Although men's hairstyles were not as huge and decorative as women's, wigs were worn frequently. Wigs became smaller and simpler than those in 17C, and while wearing them, they made wigs whitened by spraying hair-powders enough not to recognize their ages. Several names such as Pig tail, Ramilleis, Bag wig, Brigadiere, and so on existed, according to the way to tie the wigs. Somewhat exaggerated men's hairstyles were shown by Macaronis in 1780s. However, this can be regarded to reflect the situation of the age.

The purpose of this study was to investigate body image as attitude toward physical appearance, and appearance-management behavior, and to analyze the relationship between body image and life style which affects consumer behavior. The method of the study was survey research by using questionnaires. Subjects were 323 women in their twenties. Statistical analysis methods were frequency, percentage. factor analysis, discrimination analysis, one-way ANOVA, x 2- test, and Duncan's multiple range test. The results of the study were as follows. As for appearance-management behaviors of woman in her twenties. 60.1% of all respondents experienced in diet. 31.6% experienced in plastic operation, 47.4% experienced in skin care, 44.9% experienced in perfect make up, and 84.8% experienced in hair dyeing. The group with high appearance concern showed high body satisfaction. Life-style factors were analyzed into 5 factors. The group with low appearance concern considered active family-focus life factor importantly, the group with middle appearance concern considered social life factor, and the group with high appearance concern considered self-focus life type and conspicuous consumption life factor. A significant difference was found in body image between groups according to social level and demographic characteristics. The female group in the mid twenties who majors in arts and athletics, resides on southern part of Han river, and belongs to high society was analyzed to show high appearance concern and body satisfaction. and many experiences of appearance-management behaviors.

The purposes of this study was to analyze the characteristics of national races' costumes in Chinese contemporary costumes. For the purpose, this researcher concentrated on the relations between national races' costumes and Chinese contemporary costumes and discuss systematically depending on references such as fashion magazines, picture albums, and historical records. The results of study were as follows: First, the formation of fashion has been influenced by Man, Uighur, and Choson races. For example, Qipao, the tight style of Man race's fashion, Uighur race's bell style sleeve and cyclic skirt are applied to women's modern fashion. Second, weaving, printing, and embroidery technique of a minority race developed more than Han race, so applied still. Recently, Chinese contemporary costumes accepted the weaving technique of Miao and Uighur race through publicizing of a minority culture. Third, a national race's costumes are famous with splendid design and applied to modern fashion directly. They are commonly made to hair pin, necklace, earing, bracelet and so on. Recently, styles from a national race's costumes and old style are becoming popular to Chinese and it's easier to found such a fashion in market.

현대사회에서 외모는 타인과 경쟁 시 우위를 점하는 중요한 수단이기 때문에 사회생활에서 간과할 수 없는 요인으로 작용한다. 정보과학기술의 비약적인 발전으로 인해 현대사회는 당당하고 독립적인 인생 설계를 위한 진취적 자조론(自助論)과 새로운 패러다임의 역량을 겸비한 여성성을 요구하고 있기 때문에 1920, 30년대 봉건적 사회 분위기 속에서도 독립적이며 자주성을 표출한 모던걸이 구사하던 헤어스타일의 앞머리 커트, 아웃라인 표출, 층 단차, 질감 변화 등 구성요소들과 사회적 여성성(女性性)과의 상관성을 미용학 전공 여대생들 관점에서 분석하고자 한다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 현대 여성의 자립과 사회적 역할을 견고히 확립할 수 있는 참신하고 혁신적인 헤어 트렌드의 제시가 가능해진다. 또한 현대사회 여성리더의 사고(事故)와 심리에 대한 표준화를 도출하며, 창조적인 미(美)의 발현을 통해 개인 역량을 최대한 발휘하는 사회 주체로서 자주적 여성성의 정립을 위한 초석(礎石)을 다질 것으로 사료된다.

남성들도 외모 추구스타일 변화, 그리고 외모관리행동과 그 추구가치에 상당한 변화가 나타났다고 보며 이에 대한 연구의 필요가 대두되었다. 이를 위해 남성들의 외모관리를 위한 정보 수용도와 이에 따른 추구가치별 특성을 분석하였다. 연구방법은 서울거주 직장인 남성 약 500명을 대상으로 온라인조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 다섯 가지 외모관리행동의 실용적 가치에 대한 추구 정도가 가장 높고, 미적 가치는 다른 두 개의 가치에 비해 외모관리행동 유형에 따라 매우 다르게 나타났다. 특히 피부관리 양식의 수용도는 다른 양식과는 달리 사회문화적 가치, 실용적 가치, 미적 가치 모두에 의해 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 미적가치 추구의 소극성과 실용적 가치와 사회문화적 가치의 중시 경향으로 나타났다. 헤어관리는 실용적 가치에 의해, 성형수술은 미적 가치에 의해 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 관리양식 부분에서는 피부관리 수용도만이 복합적 가치 추구에 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 관리 양식별 마케팅으로는 헤어관리는 대규모 마케팅 캠페인이 오히려 효과적일 수 있으며, 성형 수술에 대한 비즈니스에 대해서는 좀 더 심미적 차원의 캠페인을 모색할 필요가 있다고 볼 수 있다.

The purpose of this thesis is to study the formative characteristics and symbolism shown in Rock stars' hairstyles through rock music to have influenced youth culture. There were a D.A style and a mop top style which included the youth characteristic to seek a new desire and value as the hairstyles of Rock & Roll stars, along with the characteristics of Rock & Roll music to represent the feeling of teenagers in 1950's at that time unlike the previous music due to high beats mixed with Rhythm & Blues (R & B) and Country music, and use of electronic guitars. We can see the desire for challenge and freedom against the then present regime, shouting love and peace, and resistance in the Psychedelic Rock music stars' hairstyle, which are untrimmed and disheveled, that is, natural. We can find explosiveness in Mohican and Spike style of Punk Rock stars playing fierce and aggressive music, along with words including indignation and assertion against the society's regime. The Artistic characteristic is implied in the following hairstyles: Glam Rock stars' hairstyle, a man's long-haired but a little long crew-cut style to reduce the bulky feeling and to give a bisexual, visible shock with hair dyed in orange to emphasize magnificence, and Punk Rock stars' hairstyle showing beauty in their own way with expression of anti-beauty to intentionally look ugly. Like this, the 20th Century's Rock music and youth culture are closely associated each other, and showed a new style, and played a leading role in street fashion, which became a momentum to much influence high fashion as a look of the 20th century modern fashion.

The purpose of this study is to research the symbolistic values of western beards' style in the twentieth century. Namely, it is to consider the relationship between social-cultural factors and aesthetic meanings of western beards' style. The contents are, firstly, studying the conception and the types of beard. A beard is the hair that grows on a person's chin, cheeks, neck, and the area above the upper lip. At the World Beard & Moustache Championships, there are moustache category (natural, english, hungarian, dali, fu manchu, freestyle), beard category (natural, musketeer, goatee, sideburns, freestyle), and full beard category (natural, garibaldi, verdi, van dyck, freestyle), Secondly, this paper is continued by researching the history of beard from the ancient to the present day, and thirdly, analyzing political dictatorship, social resistance and expression of personality, religious dignity, related with the change of world situation, the formation of postmodern anti-culture and pop-culture, and the coexistence of traditional culture. There are long and bushy full beards in some religions like Hinduism, Judaism and Islam. The meanings of their beards are purity, life and holiness. The beards of some politicians symbolize dictatorship. Namely, the chaplin of Hitler, the moustache of Hussein and the musketeer of Castro express strong power and charisma. In 1950s'-70s' subcultures, Hipsters' goatee, Bikers' horseshoe, Beat generations' goatee and Hippies' natural represent the lack of adaptability and social resistance. Also, the celebrities and artists like Ronald Colman, Clark Gable, Don Johnson, George Clooney, and Salvador Dali express freedom, personality, and taste with beards. For that matter, the symbolistic values of beards' style in the twentieth century are the religious dignity, the political dictatorship, the social resistance and the expression of personality. Today the beards' style is one of fashion items as well as a symbol of masculinity, customs and classes.

The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics that appeared in the fashion and colors of exotic tastes used by Renoir with a view to re-evaluating his-attitude towards exotic tastes. The methods used in this study were literature research and analysis of visual data from Renoir's works. The results of the study are as follows. Renoir's exotic tastes originated from the material perspective appearing in the fashions and accessories of Algeria, Orient, Spain, and Japan. Parisienne Odalisque Lise in Harem-style, Jeanne Samari in parisienne fashion holding a Japanese fan, and Gabriel in oriental fashion were portrayed as major muses. The Algerian style consisted of white, yellow or red veils, thobes, loose pants worn in Haik, and burnous. The Oriental-style was composed of harem pants, turbans, hair accessories, ornate zouave jackets, and oriental ornaments. The Spanish-style showed gay ornaments, fitted red or yellow matador costume, red bandannas, black hats, and red dresses, plus Spanish guitars. The Japanese-style consisted of kimonos, accessories such as fans, and backgrounds with interior articles such as vases, wall picture frames, and folding screens. The exotic fashion colors were red, yellow and white. Renoir expressed the works with his delicate skills and sense of craftsmanship, and he even added creative design portrayals sometimes. He selected fashions and accessories of exotic tastes as objects and expressed the objects with materials and colors reflecting regional characteristics as such, he can be regarded as an artist wed to who fashions of exotic tastes.

The purpose of this study is to examine the costume represented In human clay figures of ancient Shilla dynasty. The results of this study could be summarized as follows: 1. Horse-riding clay figures of Gumryoung tomb. At first, human-A wears a brimed-triangular hat, a Jacket, a checked pants. The brimed-triangular hat is decorated with bird-feather shape. Besides, a jacket is tied with a waist belt, and the waist belt is connected with a shoulder belt and a squared block of back. Also round bells are decorated 15 in the hat, 4 In connection points of the waist belt and the shoulder belt, and 13 in the squared block of back. Human-B wears a hairband type hempen hood, a Jacket, a pants with vertical stripes. and something is rounded from right shoulder to left side. It is one of the symbols as a shaman. 2. Other clay figures. The hats examined from other clay figures are \circled1 Triangular hat, \circled2Hat decorated with bird-feather shape, \circled3 Brined hat and \circled4 Hairband type hempen hood. Next, six kinds of hair styles examined are \circled1 a topknot, \circled2 a slanted topknots, \circled3 two topknots on both sides, \circled4(round) chignon, \circled5 hair tied at the top and plastered down, and tile last, \circled6 ponytailed style on both sides. The costume examined is a jacket and a pants.
