  • This study aims to aid hair fashion design for using hair style change by knowing the hair fashion images' characteristics. To accomplish this purpose, posed a questions to capital area university women students from June 3. 2005. to June 23. 2005. The hair fashion images' characteristics are; (1) avant-garde - unique style of every categories, (2) ethnic - korean style of center part, no volume, down chignon, inactivated texture, (3) romantic pretty - girl like cute style of long, wide wave, wide braid, center part or bang, activated texture, using pin or ribon, (4) elegance - graceful style of down point up style having wave, volume and activated texture, (5) sexy - sexual attractive style of long & wide wave or straight with high volume, activated texture(wet feeling hair styles also possible), (6) sophisticate - refined urban style of inactivated textured graduation and layered straight hair, (7) natural - inartificial style of no volume, inactivated long straight and binding hair, (8) sporty - activated style of activated and inactivated textured short hair.

A Study of the Image in Men's Hairstyle Depending on Hair Color and Texture (색채와 질감에 따른 남성 헤어스타일 이미지 연구)

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate the images in men's hairstyle by hair color, tone, texture, and perceiver's gender, and to examine the characteristics of hairstyle appropriate to seasons. A quasi-experimental method by questionnaire was used, and the experimental design was $4{\times}3{\times}2{\times}2$(hair color$\times$tone$\times$texture$\times$perceiver's$\times$gender) factorial design. The subjects were 372 men and women in their 20s through 50s. five factors of men's hairstyle image were derived by factor analysis: individuality, dignity, romanticism, refinement, and activity. Black hair was perceived to be high in dignity and activity. Bright tone was perceived to be high in individuality, but low in dignity. Men's wave hair was perceived to be higher in individuality than straight hair, but lower in dignity. Perceiver's gender did not give significant influence on evaluation of all image factors. In brown, neutral tone was perceived to be higher in dignity. romanticism, and activity than dark or bright tone. In black, wave hair was perceived to be more refined than straight hair. Black hair matches with winter the most, and yellow matches with spring the most. In terms of tone, dark tone matches with winter; neutral tone matches with autumn; bright tone matches with summer. The results of this study verified that hair color and texture affect men's image perception, and matching hair colors are associated with seasons.

Analysis of hair design formative factors in the women's one length hair style in the Imperial Japanese colonial period (일제 강점기 여성 단발의 헤어디자인 조형적 요소 분석)

  • This study is an attempt to analyze the changes and morphological analysis of the one length hair style of women in the Imperial Japanese colonial period, and the purpose of this study is to analyze the components of hair design such as shape, texture, and color based on the precedent and the book and to make possible various styles of one length hair style cut. From the results of this study, one length hair style showed the outline shape with no step height of cut length, natural hair texture and natural hair color in 1910s to 1920s. In the 1930s, the one length hair style showed a slight cut length step height and a slight discoloration using a diamond shape, a narrow wave of natural texture, hydrogen peroxide or oxygenated water. In the 1940s, one length hair style did not find any singularity to pursue brilliant beauty(美) in terms of form, texture, and color. This study may enable a deep and detailed follow up study on one length hair style, and will be a cornerstone for the development of basic data of hair beauty education and trend of new mode.

Effects of Milk Thistle Oil on Chemically Damaged Hair Improvement (밀크씨슬 오일에 의한 화학적 손상모발의 개선 효과)

  • This study aimed to understand the effects on the improvement of hair texture by producing a hair texture improvement agent with milk thistle oil, and then applying it to the damaged hair. Each sample before and after application was measured. To understand the effects on the improvement of hair texture, the tensile strength, absorbance with the use of methylene blue, and gloss were measured. In the results of measuring the tensile strength to understand the effects on the improvement of hair texture, In the results of analyzing the absorbance with the use of methylene blue, the value after application was decreased than the value before application. In the results of measuring the gloss, none of the samples showed huge differences. In the results of this study, the milk thistle oil showed the effects on the texture improvement of damaged hair.

Effects of Mink Oil on Improving Hair Texture (밍크오일의 모질 개선 효과)

  • Objective: The study aimed to understand the degree of improvement in damaged hair by applying mink oil. Methods: The agent used to improve hair texture is mink oil, which was applied in varying dosages (0, 1, 2, and 3 g). Hair characteristics were measured before and after applying mink oil to bleached hair for comparative analysis. To understand the effects of mink oil on hair texture, tensile strength, absorbance, and gloss were measured. Results: The results indicate a decrease in the tensile strength of damaged hair compared with healthy hair. Tensile strength at level 7 was achieved with high dosages of mink oil. Furthermore, the experimental group demonstrated an increase in absorbance compared with control. Compared to 0g for the control group, the absorbance values for the experimental group with mink oil dosages of 1, 2, and 3 g at level 7 decreased with the increased in mink oil dose. In terms of gloss, an increase was observed for bleached hair compared with healthy hair. At level 7, gloss decreased with the increase in mink oil dose. Conclusions: The results verified the improvement in hair texture after the application of mink oil to damaged hair. Future research should explore the effects of various oil ingredients on hair texture.

A Study on the Relationship between Hairstyling of College Students in Department of Beauty Art and Their Personalities (일부 미용 전공 학생의 헤어스타일과 성격의 관련성에 관한 연구)

  • This study was designed to identify the relationship between general characteristics and personalities of college students majoring in beauty art. For this, 286 female students from two colleges in Kwangju were interviewed using a questionnaire pertaining to their general characteristics, hair-style and personality from September 20 through 30, 2001. A $x^2{\;}-{\;}test$ was implemented to identify the relationship between hair-style, personality and other variables. The results are summarized as follows: 1 To define characteristics in relation with hair-style, how students decide their hair-style was examined and, as a result, it was reported that 80.8% of targeted students decided by themselves and 19.2% decided by others' suggestions. 2. It is reported that there was no statistically significant relationship among socio-demographic characteristics such as the length of hair, grades, allowances, religion, satisfaction of campus life, and characteristics relating to hair-style such as accessories, mood, shape of face, decision of hair-style, and texture of hair. 3. Their preference of perm type had a statistically significant relationship with their allowance, religion and accessories, but not with their grades, satisfaction of campus life, mood, shape of face, hair-style, and texture of hair. 4. Dye and bleach had a statistically significant relationship with the texture of hair, but not with socio-demographic characteristics and accessories, mood, shape of face and decision of hair-style. 5. Personality of tenacity, extroversion and introversion, emotion and falsehood had no statistically significant relationship with hair-style. Finally, it was proven that strength, extroversion and introversion, emotion and falsehood had no statistically significant relationship with hair-style. More studies to identify personal tendencies that may affect hair-style are necessary.

Effects of Apricot Kernel Oil on the Improvement Hair Texture (살구씨 오일에 의한 화학적 손상모발의 개선 효과)

  • This study aimed to understand the effects of apricot kernel oil on the improvement of hair texture by producing a hair texture improvement agent added with apricot kernel oil and then applying it to damaged hair. In the test method and measurement, the agent was produced by putting different contents of apricot kernel oil like 0 g, 1 g 2 g, and 3 g. After applying the produced agent to bleached sample hair, it was heat treated and then left as it was. The comparative analysis was conducted by measuring each sample before and after application. To understand its effects on the improvement of hair texture, the tensile strength, absorbance with the use of methylene blue, and gloss were measured. In the results of this study, the tensile strength was increased in every sample except for healthy hair after application. In the results of analyzing the absorbance with the use of methylene blue, it was decreased in samples like 7L(1), 7L(2), 7L(3), and 9L(3) after application. In the results of measuring the gloss, it was increased in the samples like 7L(1), 7L(2), 7L(3), and 9L(3). Such changes in the tensile strength, absorbance, and gloss showed the effects of apricot kernel oil on the texture improvement of damaged hair. In the future, it would be necessary to have researches on various methods of measurement and treatment.

  • In this study, we examine a variety of influences in the field of design and analysis about the value of visual tactile design. In hair design, through study on visual tactility, creative design inspiration in the field of hair design enables development of quality research. Research methods use Internet publications such as local and foreign data, analysis, and related research and book forms, such as network searches. library goes for consideration by a literature search. Contents of this study used review of the case and by visual tactility design, for this study, expressive characteristics by color, texture and form of hair design, from 2014-2017 trend shown in the last three years the expressions of visual tactility being used through the analysis of design by date of the case. Result of this study is, visual tactile design appearing in the areas of hair design, that are not of the rules that are active, abstract form, texture, described as a visual feel the promotion of effective, and light and high brightness is sweet tactile impression, high saturation was cold, dark color was hard and heavy, red system is warm and the blue system is cold sense. In general, design trend in hair for three years from 2014-2017, visual tactility in 2014 is a high saturation and unstructured also soft and bright colors. 2015 is on the overall shape, color, texture, hybrid design configuration is more. As of 2016, 2017 is curved and straight texture, appearance of the hybrid mix to maximize the visual tactility.

  • The purpose of this study is to review the innovation of Vidal Sassoon's hair design. His hair styling was created in 1950-60, and it was related to the Zeitgeist, 'Convulsion'. It was aesthetic reform that eliminated artificially of headdress through new design concept and high technique. It was social renovation that changed women's life through freedom, ease and mobility of hair form. Also, it was scientific innovation that emphasized improvement of hair care. Therefore this researcher set a high value on his contribution in beauty industry, and studied the formative characteristics of his hair styling. The results are as follows: The formative characteristics are classified into the simplicity of form, the mobility of construction, and the variety of color and texture. 1. The simplicity of form showed through geometric form. Vidal Sassoon's hair design had the overthrow traditional concept of femininity and beauty; in addition, it conferred freedom on not only hair itself but also women's action. 2. The naturalism and mobility of construction was found in layered and softly swinging hair made up by skillful cutting technique. It was developed by studying on the dynamism of sports in 1984 LA Olympic games. 3. The variety of color and texture showed conspicuously its visual evidence because of the simplicity of form. Especially, he borrowed factors of fine art, that is to say, form, space, texture, line, color and light, and created a performance art. His work is analyzed into an art, and he is one of the best artists.

A Study on Formative Characteristic of Subculture Style in 20C Fashion -Focused on Hair Style - (20세기 패션에 나타난 하위문화 스타일의 조형성에 관한 연구 - 헤어스타일을 중심으로-)

  • This study purposed to review the concept and characteristics of subculture theoretically and then to analyze subcultural hairstyles shown in the 20th century's fashion in terms of form, structure, texture, design line and design principle, which were formative factors of beauty art. The range of this study was from the 1950's to the 1990's, during which subcultural hairstyles, which were selected for this study, kept a unique formality as subcultural characteristics of each time were reflected in hairstyles. The hairstyles found in subcultural styles were reviewed as follows. From the formative analysis as the above, it was concluded that layer form was seen most frequently in the subcultural hairstyles. This may be because it has a lot of layers in hair, and enables to make more various forms with a simpler care than other hairstyles so that it is easy to show one's own characteristic or differentiate oneself from others. Thanks to the characteristics of layer form, horizontal and convex were often seen as design lines. As for a texture, straight often appeared. The texture of straight is naturally formed without any care applied on hair. The reason may be that most subcultures refused artificiality. Therefore, the characteristics of subcultural hairstyles may be that hairstyles are transformed into various forms and created into the styles appropriately for individual tastes so as to clearly express one's own idea and thought.
