NBLAST: a graphical user interface-based two-way BLAST software with a dot plot viewer

  • BLAST, a basic bioinformatics tool for searching local sequence similarity, has been one of the most widely used bioinformatics programs since its introduction in 1990. Users generally use the web-based NCBI-BLAST program for BLAST analysis. However, users with large sequence data are often faced with a problem of upload size limitation while using the web-based BLAST program. This proves inconvenient as scientists often want to run BLAST on their own data, such as transcriptome or whole genome sequences. To overcome this issue, we developed NBLAST, a graphical user interface-based BLAST program that employs a two-way system, allowing the use of input sequences either as "query" or "target" in the BLAST analysis. NBLAST is also equipped with a dot plot viewer, thus allowing researchers to create custom database for BLAST and run a dot plot similarity analysis within a single program. It is available to access to the NBLAST with http://nbitglobal.com/nblast.

기계 독해를 이용한 웹 기반 오픈 도메인 한국어 질의응답 (Web-Scale Open Domain Korean Question Answering with Machine Reading Comprehension)

  • 본 논문에서는 기계 독해를 이용한 웹 기반 오픈 도메인 한국어 질의응답 시스템에 대하여 서술한다. 하나의 사용자 질의에 대하여, 본 논문에서 제안된 시스템은 기 존재하는 검색 엔진을 이용하여 실시간으로 최대 1,500 개의 문서를 기계 독해 방식으로 분석하고, 각 문서별로 얻어진 답을 종합함으로써 최종 답변을 도출한다. 실험 결과, 제안된 시스템은 평균적으로 2초 이내의 실행 시간을 보였으며, 사람과 비교하여 86%의 성능을 나타내었다. 본 논문에서 제안된 시스템의 데모는 http://nlp-api.kakao.com에서 확인 가능하다.

Creating Subnetworks from Transcriptomic Data on Central Nervous System Diseases Informed by a Massive Transcriptomic Network

  • High quality publicly-available transcriptomic data representing relationships in gene expression across a diverse set of biological conditions is used as a context network to explore transcriptomics of the CNS. The context network, 18367Hu-matrix, contains pairwise Pearson correlations for 22,215 human genes across18,637 human tissue samples1. To do this, we compute a network derived from biological samples from CNS cells and tissues, calculate clusters of co-expressed genes from this network, and compare the significance of these to clusters derived from the larger 18367Hu-matrix network. Sorting and visualization uses the publicly available software, MetaOmGraph (http://www.metnetdb.org/MetNet_MetaOm-Graph.htm). This identifies genes that characterize particular disease conditions. Specifically, differences in gene expression within and between two designations of glial cancer, astrocytoma and glioblastoma, are evaluated in the context of the broader network. Such gene groups, which we term outlier-networks, tease out abnormally expressed genes and the samples in which this expression occurs. This approach distinguishes 48 subnetworks of outlier genes associated with astrocytoma and glioblastoma. As a case study, we investigate the relationships among the genes of a small astrocytoma-only subnetwork. This astrocytoma-only subnetwork consists of SVEP1, IGF1, CHRNA3, and SPAG6. All of these genes are highly coexpressed in a single sample of anaplastic astrocytoma tumor (grade III) and a sample of juvenile pilocytic astrocytoma. Three of these genes are also associated with nicotine. This data lead us to formulate a testable hypothesis that this astrocytoma outlier-network provides a link between some gliomas/astrocytomas and nicotine.

WebDAV를 이용한 리눅스 협업지원 시스템의 설계 (Design of a Linux-based Collaborative System Using WebDAV)

  • 업무환경이 다양해지면서 사람들은 원거리에 있는 사람과 협업을 하는 경우가 많아지고 있다. 원거리의 사람들과 협업을 하기 위한 컴퓨터 도구로서 협업지원 시스템을 사용하고 있다. 웹데브는 웹상의 분산 저작활동을 지원하기 위한 표준프로토콜로서 원거리에 있는 사람들 간에 웹상의 자원을 편집하고 관리할 수 있도록 해주는 HTTP/1.1의 확장이다. 협업지원 시스템을 구성할 때 웹데브를 사용한다면 효과적인 시스템을 구성할 수 있을 것이다. 현재 개발된 협업지원시스템 중에서 리눅스 기반으로 동작 협업시스템은 부재한 상대이다. 본 논문에서는 리눅스 기반에서 웹데브 프로토콜을 이용하여 동작하는 협업시스템의 설계에 대하여 기술한다. 본 시스템의 서버는 웹데브 서버로 널리 사용되고 있는 Jakarta Slide 서버를 확장하여 협업을 지원할 수 있는 구조로 설계 하였다. 서버에는 협업작업을 용의하게 할 수 있는 팀작업장을 지원하며 또한 개인적인 자료를 관리할 수 있는 개인작업장을 지원하는 기능을 지원하게 된다. 클라이언트는 사용자가 서버에 등록한 자원을 관리 하는 기능과 팀원들 간의 상호작용을 원활하게 지원하는 사용자 인터페이스를 설계 하였다. 또한 협업지원 시스템을 사용하는 사용자가 새로운 팀작업장을 만들 수 있는 기능을 구성하고 다른 사용자를 초대하거나 다른 팀작업장에 참가요청을 할 수 있는 기능을 설계하였다.

1년 간 인터넷 당뇨교육이 당뇨환자의 당화혈색소와 자가 관리 개선에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Internet Diabetic Education on Glycosylated Hemoglobin and Self-Care in Type 2 Diabetic Patients over One Year)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of web-based diabetic education on glycosylated hemoglobin(HbAlc) and self-care in people with type 2 diabetes. Method: Twenty-five patients were requested to input the blood glucose level weekly at http://www.biodang.com by cellular phone or wired Internet for one year. The researcher sent optimal recommendations weekly to each patient using the short message service for cellular phones and wired Internet. Results: Patients had a significant mean decrease in HbAlc, from 8.0% at pre-test to 6.9%, after three months and rested at 6.8% until 12 months. Patients had a significant mean increase in physical exercise adherence, from 3.3 days at pre-test to 4.1 days per week, after three months. Patients had a significant mean increase in foot care adherence, from 4.8 days at pre-test to 6.9 days per week, after one year. Conclusion: These findings indicate that Internet education could be used to improve HbAlc, physical exercise, and foot care adherence in type 2 diabetic patients.

주의력결핍·과잉행동장애의 침치료에 대한 최신 연구동향 - 2011-2013년 중국 논문 중심으로 - (A Review of Studies for Acupuncture Therapy of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in Traditional Chinese Medicine)

  • Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the acupuncture therapy about Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in China. Methods We searched for the studies on ADHD at China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI, http://www.cnki.net) from 2011.1 to 2013.8. Results Selected 12 studies were divided into 7 case reports and 5 control studies. 7 case reports reported significant improvements with acupuncture therapy in ADHD. 5 control studies reported results that the acupuncture therapy groups were similar or better than western medicine treatment groups. Frequently used acupuncture points were EX-HN23 (7 times), GV20 ${\bullet}$ P6 ${\bullet}$ SP6 (6 times), G13 ${\bullet}$ EX-HN1 (5 times). Conclusions There have been reported many ADHD clinical studies in China and these studies can be applied to the clinical practices in Korea.

  • 협업시스템은 분산된 작업그룹의 구성원들이 정보를 쉽게 교환하고 공유할 수 있도록 지원하는 공동작업환경이다. HTTP/1.1 을 확장한 WebDAV는 사용자가 원거리 서버의 자원을 수정하고 관리하는 기능을 제공하는 웹 통신 프로토콜이다. CoSlide 협업시스템은 효과적으로 협업을 지원하기 위하여 WebDAV 프로토콜을 확장하여 개발된 협업시스템으로서 협업을 위한 가상공 간을 제공하며 가상공간에 다양한 자원을 등록하고 관리할 수 있다. 하지만, CoSlide 협업시스템이 제공하는 기존의 작업장들은 그룹 구성원들간의 효과적인 협업을 위한 구성원들의 행위 인식 (Behavior Awareness) 을 지원하지 않고 있다. 본 논문에서는 CoSlide 협업시스템을 이용하여 협업을 수행할 때, 협업의 효율성을 증대시키기 위하여 구성원이 수행하는 행동을 인식할 수 있도록 자바 메시지 서비스를 이용하여 CoSlide 서버의 Awareness를 지원하기 위한 시스템을 설계하였다. 또한 CoSlide 서버의 Awareness 지원을 위하여 CoSlide 클라이언트인 CoSpace의 확장을 설계하였다. 사용자는 CoSpace 협업 클라이언트를 이용하여 협업을 수행하면 CoSlide 서버는 구성원이 수행하는 작업을 인식하고, 인식한 정보의 공개수준 여부와 수신여부를 참조하여 관련된 구성원에게 알려줌으로써 협업의 효율성이 증대된다.

중국 오태인 체질이론의 문헌연구: 체질 특성과 치료, 양생법 (A Literature Study on Five Type Personality (Wutairen) in China: characteristic, treatment and prevention)

  • Objectives Because of growing interest in personalized medicine, constitutional medicine also becomes more important. Constitutional medicine has already developed in many countries. In this study, we tried to investigate five type personality (Wutairen), a kind of Chinese constitutional medicine. Methods We did a research on five type personality using CNKI (http://www.cnki.net) up to Jan 15, 2018. Total 204 papers were searched with the keyword "Wutairen". We excluded 170 papers away from the subject or clinically studied. As a result, 34 papers were selected and analyzed. Results and Conclusions Five type personality (Wutairen) originated from Huangdi Neijing-Lingshu. There are 5 types: greater Yin person (Taiyin), lesser Yin person (Shaoyin), greater Yang person (Taiyang), lesser Yang person (Shaoyang) and Yin-yang balanced person. These are classified according to Yin-Yang content. Each type has different characteristic, treatment and prevention. Five type personality theory considers internal factors more important than external factors. Also, it considers the balance of Yin-Yang important.

  • As technological development is progressing recently, various technologies are actively being studied in the course of the 4th industrial revolution. So, even in the educational field, virtual reality and augmented reality technology are used in educational environments, but specialized additional equipment is required and the price is very expensive. Also, since a plurality of equipment are required for a large number of people, it is urgent to study the technology that can be effectively applied to the industrial education field. So in this paper, we propose an industrial training system for HMD-AR, MPEG-DASH and SOAP based HTTP based Live Machinery Operation using Smartphone to solve the problems of existing system.

A Triple Residual Multiscale Fully Convolutional Network Model for Multimodal Infant Brain MRI Segmentation

  • The accurate segmentation of infant brain MR image into white matter (WM), gray matter (GM), and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is very important for early studying of brain growing patterns and morphological changes in neurodevelopmental disorders. Because of inherent myelination and maturation process, the WM and GM of babies (between 6 and 9 months of age) exhibit similar intensity levels in both T1-weighted (T1w) and T2-weighted (T2w) MR images in the isointense phase, which makes brain tissue segmentation very difficult. We propose a deep network architecture based on U-Net, called Triple Residual Multiscale Fully Convolutional Network (TRMFCN), whose structure exists three gates of input and inserts two blocks: residual multiscale block and concatenate block. We solved some difficulties and completed the segmentation task with the model. Our model outperforms the U-Net and some cutting-edge deep networks based on U-Net in evaluation of WM, GM and CSF. The data set we used for training and testing comes from iSeg-2017 challenge (http://iseg2017.web.unc.edu).
