마황이 LPS투여 흰쥐의 면역조절능에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Ephedrae Herba on Immunomodulatory Activity in Lipopolysaccharide-Exposed Rats and Raw 264.7 Cells)

  • in vivo 및 in vitro에서 마황의 항염증효과를 검토하기 위하여 마황추출물을 급여한 흰쥐에게 LPS shock로 급성기 염증반응을 유발시킨 후, 혈액 및 간장의 전염증성 cytokines들의 농도를 경시적으로 조사하였으며, 한편으로는 Raw 264.7 cell에 LPS shock를 가한 후, 마황추출물이 각종 전염증성 cytokines들의 생산량에 미치는 영향을 조사했다. in vivo 실험에서, 각 처리군 별 plasma IL-$1{\beta}$, IL-6, TNF-$\alpha$ 및 IL-10 농도의 경시적 변동은 전 처리군 모두가 LPS 처리 후, 2h째 급격하게 증가하여, 5h째에 최고치를 나타내었다. Plasma IL-$1{\beta}$, IL-6 및 TNF-$\alpha$의 농도는 LPS처리 후 5h째에서 마황 첨가군 모두가 대조군보다 낮은 값을 나타내었다. Plasma IL-10의 농도는 LPS처리 후, 2h째 및 5h째 모두 에서 마황추출물 첨가군 들이 대조군보다 높은 값을 나타내었다. Raw 264.7 macrophages를 이용한 in vitro 실험에서, IL-$1{\beta}$, IL-6 및 TNF-$\alpha$의 농도들은 대조군보다 마황처리 군들 모두가 낮은 값을 나타내었다. IL-10의 농도는 대조군보다 마황처리군들이 다소 높은 경향을 보였으나, 유의한 차이는 아니었다. 이상의 결과들을 종합해보면 마황에 내재하는 기능성 물질들이 염증반응을 완화하는 효과를 가지고 있음을 시사해 준다.

  • 마황 추출액이 흰쥐의 혈액내 지질구성, 간장기능 및 혈구성상에 미치는 영향을 검토했다. 혈장내 FFA 농도는 처리군 간에 유의한 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 그러나 triglyceride 농도는 마황 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 감소하였다. 총콜레스테롤량은 마황 첨가군에서 현저하게 감소했다. 그러나 HDL 및 LDC-cholesterol 농도는 처리군 간에 유의한 차이를 나타내지 않았다. GOT 활성치는 마황 첨가군에서 높은 경향을 보였으나, GPT 활성치는 처리군 간에 유의한 차이를 나타내지 않았다. RBC는 마황 첨가군에서 높은 수치를 보였으나, Hb 및 PCV는 처리군 간에 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. WBC 총수는 처리군 간에 유의한 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 백혈구 구성비는 neutrophils의 비율이 마황 첨가군에서 증가하는 경향을 보였으나 나머지 종류들은 처리군 간에 유의한 차이를 나타내지 않았다.

태음조위탕(太陰調胃湯)과 마황(麻黃)이 비만(肥滿) 백서(白鼠)의 Leptin에 미치는 영향(影響) (The effect of Taeumjowetang and Herba Ephedrae on the Obese mRNA and TNF-α mRNA in obesity-induced rats)

  • In order to investigate the effect of Taeumjowetang and Herba Ephedrae on obesity-induced rats, after Taeumjowetang and Herba Ephedrae were administered by mouth, and then body-weight, serum triglyceride, total cholesterol, Obese mRNA and TNF-${\alpha}$/ mRNA were measured. The reselts were as follows ; 1. The body-weight was decresed with the statistical significance in both the Taeumjowetang and the Herba Ephedrae group as compared with the control group. 2. The quantitation of serum triglyceride was decresed with the statistical significance in both the Taeumjowetang and the Herba Ephedrae group as compared with the control group. 3. The total cholesterol was slightly decresed in both the Taeumjowetang and the Herba Ephedrae group as compared with the control group, but there was no statistical significance. 4. The manifestation of Obese mRNA and TNF-${\alpha}$/ mRNA in epidymal, retroperitoneal, mesenteric and skeletal muscle tissues were inhibited in Taeumjowetang and Herba Ephedrae group. According to the above results, Taeumjowerang and Herba Ephedrae were recognized to be helpful for the treatment of obesity.

동의보감(東醫寶鑑) 중(中) 마황(麻黃)이 주약(主藥)으로 배오(配伍)된 방제(方齊)의 활용(活用)에 대한 고찰(考察) (Study on Application of Herba Ephedrae Main Blended Prescription from Dongeuybogam)

  • This report describes the remedial fields, symptoms, pathlogy, dosage, prescriptional constitution of 79 studies to the use of Herba Ephedrae main blended prescriptions from dongeubogam. The following conclusions were reached through investigations on the prescriptions that use Herba Ephedrae as a key ingredient Herba Ephedrae blended prescriptions are utilized for 26 therapeutic purposes, for example, in symptoms of cough, cold, wind. In particular, 20.2% of the prescriptions appear in the chapter of cough. Prescriptions that utilize Herba Ephearae as the main ingredient are used in the treatment of 47 different types of diseases, for example, in the treatment of wind-cold pathogen, cold, wind, exogenous febrile disease etc. Herba Ephedrae is most widely used in six pathogenic factors such as wind, cold, dampness, heat. The actual amount of Herba Ephedrae blended has ranged at a wide variety of amounts from 1 don to 2 don. It is widely applied with base prescriptions such as Mahwang-tang, Samyo-tang, Mahwangbujasesin-tang, Mahwangkanghwal-tang.

하수오, 황정 및 마황의 항산화성 및 미백효과 (Antioxidative Properties and Whitening Effects of the Polygoni Multiflori Radix, Polygonati Rhizoma and Ephedrae Herba)

  • In order to fine antioxidant and whitening agent source from nature, the comparisons of antioxidative activity and tyrosinase inhibitory activity were carried out for various ethanol extract on Polygoni Multiflori Radix, Polygonati Rhizoma and Ephedrae Herba. Comparing for three ethanol extracts, the highest electron donating ability was found at Polygonati Rhizoma (86.6%), but, the highest SOD-like ability, at the Ephedrae Herba (47.8%). Xanthine oxidase experiment exhibited 95.7% of hindrance effect in Ephedrae Herba, and 84.0% in Polygonati Rhizoma. A tyrosinase inhibitory activity assay was conducted to evaluate the whitening effects of the extracts, The tyrosinase inhibitory activity was 6.5% in the Polygoni Multiflori Radix, 32.6% in the Polygonati Rhizoma, 64.0% in the Ephedrae Herba. Based on these results, we suggest that the ethanol extracts of Polygoni Multiflori Radix, Polygonati Rhizoma and Ephedrae Herba can be used as food and cosmetic ingredients.

마황(麻黃) 추출물이 항산화에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Ephedras Herba on the activity of antioxidant)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the antioxidative effects of Ephedrae Herba extract. Methods : Total antioxidant status was examined by total antioxidant capacity(TAC), total antioxidant response(TAR) against potent free radical reactions, total phenolic content, DPPH radical scavenging activities, and the inhibitory effect of the extract on lipid peroxidation in rat liver mitochondria. Results : 1. TAC and TAR of Ephedrae Herba extract at the concentration of 5mg/ml were 3.76 and 1.65 mM Trolox equivalents , respectively. 2. Total phenolic content of Ephedrae Herba extract at the concenuation of 5mg/ml was 3.52 mM gallic acid equivalent. 3. Concentration of Ephedrae Herba extract at which DPPH radical scavenging activity was inhibited by 50% was 0.46mg/ml as compared to 100% by pyrogallol solution as a reference. 4. Ephedrae Herba extract at the concentration of 2mg/ml significantly decreased TBARS concentration by 97%, showing that Ephedrae Herba extract prevented lipid peroxidation at the low concentration. Conclusion : Thus antioxidant effects of Ephedrae Herba extract appear to be due to, at least in part, the prevention from free radicalsinduced oxidation, followed by inhibition of lipid peroxidation.

LPS로 활성화된 복강 대식세포에서 마황(麻黃)이 배오(配伍)된 10종(種) 처방의 NO 억제 효과 (Inhibitory Effect of Ten Kinds of Herbal Medicine Including Ephedrae Herba on Nitric Oxide in LPS-induced Murine Peritoneal Macrophage)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to find out whether Herba Ephedrae, solely used, and Herbal medicine in which this was included, have inhibitory effects of Nitric Oxide(NO). Methods : We tested the inhibitory effects of Nitric Oxide(NO) with Herba Ephedrae and ten kinds of Herbal medicine combined with Herba Ephedrae(Worlbikachul-Tang, 越婢加朮湯; Mahaengkamsuk-Tang, 麻杏甘石湯; Shinbi-Tang, 神秘湯; Mahwangbujaseshin-Tang, 麻黃附子細辛湯; Euiin-Tang, 薏苡仁湯; Galgeun-Tang, 葛根湯; Mahaengeuigam-Tang, 麻杏薏甘湯; Mahwang-Tang, 麻黃湯; Socheongryong-Tang, 小靑龍湯; Gaemagakban-Tang, 桂麻各半湯) on RAW264.7 cells. Results and Conclusions : 1. We carried out MTT assay on Herba Ephedrae and those decoctions including this in order to determine whether they accommodate cotytoxicity. The results were that Worlbikachul-Tang, Mahaengkamsuk-Tang, Mahwangbujaseshin-Tang, Mahaengeuigam-Tang, Mahwang-Tang, Socheongryong-Tang and Gaemagakban-Tang showed no cytotoxicity on RAW264.7 with 0.1mg/ml and 0.5mg/ml dosages of decoctions but displayed cytotoxicity on the cell with 1mg/ml. Solely used Herba Ephedrae, Shinbi-Tang, Euiin-Tang and Galgeun-Tang exhibited cytotoxicity beyond the concentration of 0.5mg/ml. 2. Worlbikachul-Tang, Mahaengkamsuk-Tang, Shinbi-Tang, Mahwangbujaseshin-Tang, Euiin-Tang, Galgeun-Tang, Mahaengeuigam-Tang, Mahwang-Tang and Socheongryong-Tang showed inhibition of NO production but solely used Herba Ephedrae and Gaemagakban-Tang did not exhibit such reaction.

Circuit training과 마황(麻黃) 복용이 태음인 여성의 심폐기능향상과 체지방감소에 미치는 상관성 연구 (Correlation between Cardiopulmonary System Function and Body Fat by Circuit Training and Ephedra Herba in Taeumin Women)

  • Objectives : This study was aimed to find out correlation of relation between cardiopulmonary function and body fat. Methods : We studied tendency of change of cardiopulmonary function and body fat for medication of Ephedrae Herba capsule by ergogenic aids with circuit training. We got the results for Exercise stress test and Segmental Bioelectrical Impedence Analysis. Results : 1. Sample Group of Ephedrae Herba medication and Circuit training generally showed the insignificant improvement of Body composition, but Control Group of Placebo and Circuit training significantly(p<.05) showed significant improvement of Body composition. 2. Sample Group of Ephedrae Herba medication and Circuit training generally showed the significant improvement of cardio-pulmonary function. Control Group of Placebo and Circuit training showed insignificant elevation of Cardiopulmonary function. 3. In the case of Sample Group, there wasn't closely correlation relationship of improvement of cardiopulmonary function and body composition, but in the case of Control Group, there was closely correlation relationship of improvement of cardiopulmonary function and body composition. Conclusions : It might be recognized that cardiopulmonary function has the correlation of body composition, and Ephedrae Herba might help the reduction of Body Fat by elevation of Cardiopulmonary function for ergogenic aids and it might be needed further study In various viewpoints.

마황(麻黃)과 그 위품의 내부형태감별 (The Anatomical Identification-key of Ephedrae Herba and its adulterant)

  • Objectives : Ephedra regeliana, although similar to the other E. sinica, E. intermedia, and E. equisetina, is not authorized by The Korean Pharmacopoeia and yet has also been imported under the name of 'Ma-Hwang'. The aim of this study was to perform a comparative anatomical evaluation of Ephedrae Sinicae Herba (ESH), Ephedrae Intermedicae Herba (EIH), Ephedrae Equisetinae Herba (EEH) and Ephedrae Regelianae Herba (ERH). Methods : Permanent paraffin-embedded specimens were produced using the paraffin-tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) method, to visualize their anatomical features via light microscopy. Results : ESH and ERH transverse sections were in the shape of a long ellipse, while those of EIH and EEH were in the shape of a circle. These anatomical characteristics substantiated the results of external morphological examination. The sections revealed that each of the four samples showed significantly different cortexes. The cortex of ESH was wider than two thirds of the section, unlike that of the other samples which was relatively narrow. The xylems of ERH, EIH, and EEH demonstrated interconnectivity with other adjacent xylems, contrary to those in ESH. Therefore, the characteristic development of the xylems over time was used to distinguish ERH from the other. Furthermore, parenchymal morphology in the central cylinder was also a good criterion to differentiate between EIH and EEH, since EIH demonstrated parenchymal cells that were shaped like a rounded-triangle, whereas EEH parenchymal cells were chrysanthemum-shaped. Conclusions : The identification-keys established in this study would facilitate the accurate identification of microscopic features of the four varieties of 'Ma-Hwang'.

"상한론(傷寒論)"의 마행감석탕(麻杏甘石湯)에 대한 연구(硏究) (The Study on the "Sanghanron(傷寒論)"'s Mahanggamsuktang(麻杏甘石湯))

  • Objective : There are lots of wrong treatment cases in the "Sanghanron". Therefore, search the symptoms that before performed the wrong treatment is important, and that can be a another way to study "Sanghanron". Method : I'll have to figure out "Sanghanron" related publications. Result : The symptoms of Mahanggamsuktang already had the symptoms of Mahwantang(麻黃湯) and the fever of Lung before performed the wrong treatment. Because pathogenic heat is blockaged in the Lung, so we use the Mahanggamsuktang. Conclusion : The efficacies of this drug are disseminating Lung Gi(肺氣) and clearing heat. However, as the rise and fall of fever, the amount of HERBA EPHEDRAE(麻黃) and GYPSUM FIBROSUM(石膏) can be adjusted.
