  • Objective: This experimental study was performed to examine if Hang-Am-Dan non-boiled water extracts (HAD-N) induce apoptosis in human lung carcinoma NCI-H460 cells in vitro and inhibits the growth of NCI-H460 cell-transplanted solid tumor in vivo. Materials and Methods: We cultured NCI-H460 cell lines and xenografted them to nude mice. The mice were divided into 3 groups, NCI-H460 cell alone, NCI-H460 + 90 mg/kg HAD-N treated group, and NCI-H460 + 180 mg/kg HAD-N treated group, with seven mice per group. HAD-N was orally administrated every day for four weeks. We checked their body weight and tumor weight and volumes two times a week and their absolute organ weight and biochemical blood analysis at the final day by sacrificing them. We also calculated their tumor inhibition rate (IR), mean survival time and percent increase in life span (% ILS). Results: In this study, we observed that all of the HAD-N treated mice got smaller tumors. The more doses of HAD-N used, the less IR showed at the 8th day after starting this experiment. Tumor weight and volume of HAD-N treatment groups also decreased. Mean survival time and percent increase in life span (% ILS) in the high-dose HAD-N treatment groups were higher than those of other groups. The test substances in the blood level UN results showed reduction in the significance in both HAD-N 90 mg/kg and HAD-N 180 mg/kg (p<0.01). The blood level phosphatase results in HAD-N 90 mg/kg group compared to NCI-H460 cell alone group showed a reduction in significance (p<0.05). AST levels HAD-N 180 mg/kg group compared to NCI-H460 cell alone group significance as well (p<0.05). Conclusion: We suggest that the results of the in vivo study showed that HAD-N may have potential as a growth inhibitor of tumor-induced NCI-H460 of nude mice in spite of the shortcomings of this study. More studies to overcome those shortcomings and to find out significant antitumor mechanism will be needed.

  • The extended transseptal approach to the mitral valve replacement has been used for 30 patients. There were 19 women and 11 men. Twenty five patients had rheumatic heart disease, 4 had degenerative valve ,and 1 had valve prolapse. Fifteen of 30 patients had other associated procedure; 10 had aortic valve replacement; 5 had tricuspid annuloplasty. There were no postoperative complications associated with the approaches, ie, no bleeding, no sinus node dysfuction, and no atrioventricular conduction disturbance. Despite division of the sinus node artery, preoperative atrial rhythms[3 sinus rhythms and 27 atrial fibrillations were not changed during postoperative period. The extended transseptal approach provides good mitral valve exposure without inherent complications, and is superior to that of standard approach, so we use it routinely for mitral valve procedure.

  • This study examines the structural relationships between ecotourism village visitors' motivation, value, satisfaction, and loyalty. A self-administered survey was conducted based on 254 visitors to six ecotourism villages. According to the confirmatory factor analysis, there were four underlying dimensions of motivation (relaxation, adventure, nature experience, and learning) and on underlying dimension of value (tourism). According to structural equation modeling, relaxation had a positive effect on economic value, and relaxation and learning had positive effects of functional value. Relaxation had a positive effect on social value. Economic, emotional, and social value had positive effects on ecotourism village visitors' satisfaction, and economic value had the greatest effect on satisfaction. Satisfaction had a positive effect on destination loyalty. The results imply that economic, emotional, and social value played important mediating roles in the relationship between motivation and satisfaction.

  • The objective of this paper is to study burst through the influence of overheating to affect a seamed container using the cookers with different materials and bottom sizes. Following result are drawn from this study; When bottom size of the roast meat had 24cm diameter, the upper part temperature of a seamed container was increased over $40^{\circ}C$. Therefore the cooker material without regard to cooker size had a great influence on the temperature of seamed container. For the natural stone plate which had bottom length 65cm, a seamed container was burst at the cooker temperature $801^{\circ}C$, the surface temperature of a burner $573^{\circ}C$. the upside temperature of seamed container $379^{\circ}C$, the downside temperature of seamed container $236^{\circ}C$ and ambient temperature $34^{\circ}C$. For the cooker of the same bottom area, the stone plate had greater influence on effect of temperature than aluminium cooker. Overheating had a great influence on the seamed container if the bottom or upside diameter of a cooker had been larger than a trivet.
