Exendin-4 (Ex-4), a peptide secreted from the salivary glands of the Gila monster lizard, can increase pancreatic $\beta$-cell growth and insulin secretion by activating glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor. In this study, we expressed a fusion protein consisting of exendin-4 and the human immunoglobulin heavy chain (Ex-4/IgG-Fc) in E. coli and explored its potential therapeutic use for the treatment of insulin-resistant type 2 diabetes. Here, we show that the Ex-4/IgG-Fc fusion protein induces expression of insulin receptor substrate-2 in rat insulinoma INS-1 cells. Our findings therefore suggest that Ex-4/IgG-Fc overexpressed in E. coli could be used as a potential, long-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 mimetic.

In this paper, transient temperature and vibration characteristics of a brushless DC (BLD(c) motor are studied for external load (165W~495W) and rotational speed (2000 rpm~4000 rpm). For experiment, a simple measurement system is developed to allow a change in load and speed for measuring transient temperature and vibration simultaneously. Temperature and vibration were also measured under the conditions of natural convection and forced convection. Vibrations in the directions of x-axis (#Ch1), y -axis (#Ch2) and z -axis (#Ch3) were obtained by three accelerometers and temperature was obtained by a thermo-couple with respect to time until the motor is steady. Experimental results show that the amplitude of vibration is higher in the order of z-axis (#Ch3), x -axis (#Ch1) and y-axis (#Ch2) and the amplitude of vibration at the forced convection conditions is 10.6% to 17.8% lower than that of vibration at the natural convection. However, the ratio of the vibration value is similar on average regardless of external convection condition.

A major element in the evaluation of reliability worth is the customer cost associated with a loss of supply. This paper proposes a new methodology to estimate the IEAR(Interrupted energy assessment rate) based on expectation value of outage time by using micro approach. The case study in this paper was performed on the basis of the survey data which had been conducted in a previous research.

The ambient $PM_{2.5}$ samples were collected by $PM_{2.5}$ sampler from September 2010 to December 2012 at Daegu University, Gyeongsan. A total of 260 samples were collected and 27 species were analyzed by inductively coupled plasma, ion chromatography, and thermal optical reflectance methods. Factor analysis identified four sources such as biomass burning source/secondary aerosol source, soil source, industry source, and incinerator source/mobile source. Also, backward trajectories were calculated using HYSPLIT 4 (Hybrid single-particle lagrangian integrated trajectory) model and PSCF (Potential source contribution function) model was applied to identify the possible source locations of carbonaceous species and water soluble ions species. PSCF results showed that the possible source locations of most chemical constituents measured in Gyeongsan were the industrial areas in the eastern coast of China, northeast regions of China, the Gobi Desert, and east sea of Korea.

The paper refers to ordered semigroups in which $x^2 (x \in S)$ are left ideal elements. We mainly show that this $po$-semigroup is left regular if and only if S is a union of left simple subsemigroups of S.
