지시적 심상요법이 혈압과 맥박에 미치는 효과 - 간호대학생을 대상으로 - (The Effect of Guided Imagery on Blood Pressure and Pulse Rate - In Nursing Students -)

  • The purpose of this study was to test the effect of guided imagery on blood pressure and pulse rate. The subjects were thirty-nine nursing students in I university located in Busan, Korea To enhance the effect of treatment, they were trained getting themselves absorbed in guided imagery on three different occasions before the study. Actually in the study, the subjects were given instruction in Mason's guided imagery for 19 minutes and 58 seconds. Blood pressure and pulse rate were measured before and after guided imagery application. The data were analyzed through paired t-test. The Results were as follows : 1) There was a significant decrease in systolic blood pressure after the use of guided imagery. 2) There was no significant decrease in diastolic blood pressure after the use of guided imagery. 3) There was a significant decrease in pulse rate after the use of guided imagery. These results indicate that guided imagery is a helpful technique for decreasing blood pressure and pulse rate, which are increased in stress condition.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test the effect of pleasant guided imagery on the vital signs of elderly. Method: The subjects of this study were 15 elderly women. Collecting data were blood pressure, pulse rate, body temperature, the degree of imagination and relaxation. Data were analyzed using SPSS PC+ program with percentage, paired t-test. Result: After practicing of pleasant guided imagery, systolic blood pressure and pulse rate were significantly lowered than before practicing of pleasant guided imagery. After practicing of pleasant guided imagery, Diastolic blood pressure and body temperature were not significantly changed. After practicing of pleasant guided imagery, the degree of imagination and relaxation were relatively higher in old women. Conclusion: Pleasant guided imagery can be used for elderly patients with hypertension. And it can be used to promote relaxation of elderly with stress.

  • Purpose: This study examined the effects of guided imagery on stress, state anxiety, test anxiety and core basic nursing skill performance score of undergraduate nursing student. Methods: An equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was utilized. A total of 45 senior nursing students were randomly assigned to either an intervention group to receive guided imagery, or a control group (experimental group=23 students, control group=22 students). The guided imagery was provided via audio files to the intervention group for eight minutes, once a day for five days. The pretest was given before the intervention to measure variables for both groups, and the posttest was performed immediately afterward and three days after the intervention. Results: Significant differences were found between the two groups in stress ((F=4.94, p=.012), state anxiety (F=5.99, p=.005), and basic core nursing skill performance scores (Z=-2.45, p=.015). Conclusion: Guided imagery for nursing students has been identified as effective for stress, state anxiety, and basic core nursing skill performance scores. Guided imagery can be used as an effective intervention before performance tests. These study results can provide useful data for nursing education.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of Guided Imagery on the stress and anxiety of nursing students in clinical practice. Method: The research design was a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The data were collected from the 20th of June to the 11th of July 2003. The objects of this study were 32 nursing students of college(16 for the experimental group, 16 for the control group). The instruments used in this study were State Trait Anxiety Inventory, the stress scale developed by Choi(1991). The guided imagery was provided through audiotapes to the subjects for 8 minutes, a time for 5 days. The pretest was given before the therapy to measure variables for both groups and the posttest was performed after intervention. The data were analyzed by the SAS program using t-test. Result: The results of this study are as follows. The stress scores of students were decreased in the experimental group, but were not significantly different between the experimental group and the control group after the guided imagery. The anxiety scores of students were significantly different between the experimental group and the control group after the guided imagery. Conclusion: The guided imagery can be suggested as an effective nursing intervention to reduce the anxiety. Further studies to identify the effects of stress reduction according to the frequency of the guided imagery can be needed.

간호학생의 근육주사 처치 실습에서 지시적 심상요법의 효과 - 불안, 스트레스 및 처치 수행도를 중심으로 - (The Effects of Guided Imagery on Nursing Students Performing Intramuscular Injections)

  • The anxiety and stress of nursing students on performance intramuscular injection diminished nursing skill performance. The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of the guided imagery program on anxiety, stress and nursing skill performance of nursing students. Method: The study design was time series with a nonequivalent control group pretest- posttest study. The Data were collected from the 30th of Oct. to the 6th of Nov. 2001. The objects of this study were 36 sophomores of university(18 for the experimental group, 18 for the control group). The Instruments used in this study were State Trait Anxiety Inventory developed by Spielberger (1972), Visual Analogue Scale for Stress and Nursing skill performance developed by the researcher. The guided imagery was provided through audiotapes to the subjects for 8 minutes. The pretest was given before the therapy to measure variables for both groups and the posttests were performed after intervention. The data were analyzed by the SAS program using t-test and paired t-test. Result: The results of this study are as follows. The level of anxiety of students who received the guided imagery were significantly lower than that of control group. the level of stress had a deeling tendency and the nursing skill performance level was significantly higher than that of control group. Conclusion: The guided imagery suggested as an effective nursing intervention did reduce the anxiety and promoted nursing skill performance of nursing students.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify effects of guided imagery on stress including cognitive, affective, marital and social, and anxiety among women receiving in vitro fertilization (IVF). Methods: Data were collected between April, 21 and June, 17, 2008. The participants in this study were 57 women (26 for the experimental group, 31 for the control group) receiving IVF for primary or secondary infertility in one of the outpatient infertility centers in Seoul. The guided imagery (Suk, 2001) was provided through audio CD to the experimental group by themselves 8 minutes per day for 2 weeks. Data were analyzed by SPSS 12.0 windows program. Results: After guided imagery, the experimental group showed significantly lower affective stress and total stress scores. Anxiety scores increased significantly in the control group, but not in the experimental group after treatment. Conclusion: The findings suggest that guided imagery is an effective nursing intervention for reducing stress especially affective stress and anxiety among infertile women receiving IVF in outpatient infertility center.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of the guided imagery program on stress of adolescents. The study design was nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest study. The Data were collected from the 1st to 30th of September in 2000. Two schools were selected as an experimental group and a control group. Each group included two classes. The experimental group was consisted of 40 male students and 42 female students and the control group was consisted of 41 males and 42 females. The guided imagery was provided with audiotapes to the subjects in the classroom for 8 minutes per each therapy, 5 times a week for 4 weeks. The pretest was given before the therapy to measure variables for both groups and the posttests were performed twice after 2 weeks and 4 weeks from the start of intervention. The Instruments used in this study were perception of stress scale developed by Park(1996), Vividness of Imagery Scale; short form of bett's test scale developed by Sheenhan(1967). The data were analyzed by the SAS program using Chi-square test, t-test, repeated measure ANOVA and Bonferroni correction. The results of this study are as follows: 'The level of stress of adolescents who received the guided imagery will be significantly lower than that of control group' was supported(F=10.14, p=.00). In conclusion, the guided imagery was suggested as an effective nursing intervention did reduce the stress of adolescents which school nurses could utilize for adolescents at school.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the feeling state guided imagery(FSGI) and end state guided imagery(ESGI) on stress and performance of an intramuscular injection of nursing students. Method: The design was a time series with a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest study. Data was collected from the 23 rd to the 25th of Nov. 2004. The subjects of this study were 40 female sophomores (21 for the ESGI, 19 for the FSGI). The instruments used in this study were the Visual Analogue Scale for Stress and the Nursing Skill Performance Check-list on Intramuscular Injection developed by the researchers(10 items). Guided imagery was provided through audiotapes for 8 minutes. A pretest was given before applying the guided imagery, posttest 1 was performed after the intervention, posttest 2 was performed before the intramuscular injection and then evaluation of the performance of the intramuscular injection was done. Data was analyzed using t-test, and Repeated Measures ANOVA. Result: The level of stress for those who received the ESGI and FEGI was not significant and the level of the nursing skill performance for those who received the ESGI was significantly higher than that of students who received the FEGI. Conclusion: The use of ESGI has an effect on learning psychomotor nursing skills and further research is needed on stress.

GIM(Guided Imagery and Music)에서 GIM 치료사의 음악 선택에 관한 내러티브 문헌 고찰 (Music Choices of GIM(Guided Imagery and Music) Therapist in GIM: Narrative Literature Review)

  • 본 연구는 GIM 음악치료사의 GIM 치료에서의 음악선택에 대하여 고찰하고자 하는 것이다. 학술지 데이터베이스 7개와 음악치료 전문학술지 9개를 대상으로 1964년부터 2013년까지의 연구를 검색하였다. 검색어는 "Guided Imagery and Music", "GIM", "Helen Bonny", "Bonny method", "Music and Imagery", "BMGIM"였다. 초기 검색된 모든 연구의 초록을 확인하여 1차 선정된 126개의 연구에서 음악선택이 명시된 12개의 연구를 최종 선택하여 내러티브 문헌 고찰을 하였다. 12개의 연구에 대한 문헌고찰 결과 GIM 치료사들은 내담자의 이슈와 관련된 기분, 정서, 느낌의 특색(quality), 치료에서 다루어지는 내담자의 주제(theme)와 연관성이 있는 음악을 선택하였다. 이중 특히 5개의 연구에서는 내담자의 상태(state)와 연관 지을 수 있는 음악을 여러 음악요소를 분석적으로 고려하여 선택함으로써 보다 개연성을 가진 음악선택의 이유를 확인할 수 있었다. 문헌고찰을 위해 선택된 126개의 연구 대부분은 사례연구로 연구자 고유의 관점으로 질적으로 기술하고 있어 연구들 간의 공통점을 도출하는 것에는 한계가 있었다. 본 문헌고찰 연구를 통해 음악중심의 심층 음악심리치료기법인 GIM에서 음악선택에 대한 임상적 근거 마련을 위해 보다 기초적인 연구가 필요함을 확인할 수 있었다.

통증에 대한 지시적 심상요법의 효과 - 대학생을 중심으로 - (An Effect of Guided Imagery on Pain)

  • This study is conducted to test an effect of the guided Imagery program on artificially induced pain and to develop an effective nursing intervention for patients with pain. The subjects of this study were 37 normal female university students. The data were collected from September 1998 to December 1998. And two group non-equal quasi -experimental research with pre and post design was used in this study, The data were analyzed with the SPSS $PC^+$ program with percentage, t-test, paired t-test and ANCOVA. The results of this study were as follows : 1. There are no significant differences of systolic blood pressure between groups. 2. The experimental group showed significantly lower diastolic blood pressure than control group after treatment. 3. There are no significant differences of pulse rate between groups. 4. The experimental group showed significantly higher body temperature than control group after treatment. 5. There are no significant differences of pain intensity between groups. 6. There are no significant differences of pain sensation between groups. 7. There are no significant differences of perceived pain tolerance time between groups. 8. The experimental group showed significantly longer real pain tolerance time than control group after treatment. 9. There are no significant differences of anxiety scores between groups. 10. There are no significant differences of Self-esteem scores between groups. 11. There are no significant differences of Self-esteem scores between groups. 12. There are no significant differences of imagability scores between groups. 13. The post-experimental group showed significantly higher relaxation rate than pre -experimental group. 14. There are no significant differences of imaging depth degree between pre-experimental group and post-experimental group. From the above results, it can be concluded that 1. This guided imagery program could be recommenced as an effective nursing intervention to relieve pain. 2. A follow up study is needed to identify long-term effects.
