Purpose : This study aimed to investigate the effects of cognitive-physical integrated training on gait function and cognitive function in elderly patients with dementia. Methods : This study evaluated gait function and cognitive function in elderly patients with dementia. Participants were randomly assigned using the random number generation (random number generator) function in microsoft excel, with odd-numbered patients allocated to the cognitive-physical integrated training group (n= 15) and even-numbered patients assigned to the conventional physical therapy group (n= 15). The experimental group received cognitive-physical integrated training in addition to conventional physical therapy, while the control group received only conventional physical therapy. Gait function was measured using the G-Walk, assessing cadence, gait speed, and step length, while cognitive function was measured using the Korean version of the Montreal cognitive assessment (K-MoCA). The intervention was conducted five times per week over six weeks. Results : After the intervention, both the cognitive-physical integrated training group and the conventional physical therapy group showed statistically significant improvements in cadence, gait speed, step length, and cognitive function (p<.05). However, between-group comparisons revealed that the experimental group experienced significantly greater improvements than the control group in cadence, gait speed, step length, and cognitive function (p<.05). Conclusion : The results of this study confirmed that both the cognitive-physical integrated training group and the conventional physical therapy group were effective in improving gait function and cognitive function in elderly patients with dementia. Notably, the cognitive-physical integrated training group showed greater improvements in cadence, gait speed, step length, and cognitive function compared to the conventional physical therapy group. These findings suggest that cognitive-physical integrated training may be an effective approach to enhancing gait and cognitive abilities in elderly patients with dementia. Future research should explore the long-term effects of this training and include a larger sample size for further investigation.

Purpose : This study examined the effects of an integrated management program on physical function, cognitive function, and depression in patients with subacute stroke. Methods : A nonequivalent control group design was adopted. The participants were assigned to either the experimental group (n=20) or control group (n=23). The experimental group received an 8-week integrated management program and standard rehabilitation service (i.e., physical therapy and occupational therapy), while the control group received the standard rehabilitation service only. Physical function was measured as gait speed and balance ability using the Berg Balance Scale (BBS). Cognitive function was measured with neuro-behavioral cognitive status examination (NCSE), and depression was measured using the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II). Repeated measure ANOVA was used to determine changes in physical function, cognitive function, and depression over 8-weeks. Results : The interaction between group and time was significant, indicating that the experimental group showed improvement in gait speed, balance ability, cognitive function (linguistic ability, linguistic memory, reasoning), and a decrease in depression compared to the control group. Conclusion : These results indicate that the integrated management program developed herein was beneficial in restoring physical function, cognitive function, and depression in subacute stroke patients.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of postural correction training on pulmonary function on 28 college students suspected of turtle neck syndrome, and the following conclusions were obtained. Methods : Turtle neck syndrome suspicion 28 person were randomly divided into a posture training group (n = 14) and group that does not perform posture training (n = 14). Respiratory function was measured by SPIROVIT SP-1 and respiratory gas analyzer. The posture training group performed balloon blowing and stair climbing after 20 minutes of posture training, and the group without posture training carried out balloon blowing training and stair climbing. Five times a week and for two weeks. Results : 1. The comparison of the FVC before and after experiments caused by balloon blowing showed a higher level of effortful pulmonary function in the control group than in the experimental group. 2. Comparison of PEFs before and after the experiment by balloon blowing showed that the experimental group's peak flow rate was higher than that of the control group. 3. Comparison of the FIVC before and after experiments with balloon blowing showed that the comparison of the FIVC showed a higher level of effortless intake pulmonary function in the control group than in the experimental group. 4. The comparison of the maximum ventilation volume(VE) before and after the experimental gas measurement showed that the maximum ventilation rate of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group. 5. The comparison of pre-test and post-test heart rate(HR) by breath gas measurement showed that the heart rate of the control group was higher than that of the experimental group. Conclusion : the results of this study showed that postural correction training, balloon blowing training, and stair climbing could have a positive impact on improving pulmonary function. However, the two-week experiment conducted five times a week showed an increase in pulmonary function, but it was difficult to see the effect due to the short study period. Therefore, it is hoped that later studies will be conducted more systematically on the effects of breathing exercises on improving pulmonary function after post-postural correction training for patients with pulmonary function problems.

The purpose of the present study is to inspect the satisfied degree of each oral function in geriatric patients with the shortened dental arch and when their prosthetic treatment is on schedule, provide some references to such treatment. For the approach to such study, 521 subjects were reviewed by grouping them according to the number of their remaining teeth, and masticatory function, phonetic function, facial change, and TMJ disorders were inspected and clarified through some questionnaires. Also through the questionnaires, the correlations between the geriatiric patients with the shortened dental arch and dentition and between the geriatiric patients with the Free-end RDP at the shortened dental arch and their oral function were found out with their satisfied degree of oral function. Results or findings from such study are as follows : 1. With regard to their satisfied degree of oral function, there was a significant difference of satisfaction between or among the group having only the anterior teeth and the group having the part of premolars and the group having even the part of molars, however no significant difference of satisfaction appeard between the group having 1st molars and the group having 2nd molars. 2. With regard to their satisfied degree of phonetic function, no significant difference appeared between or among the group having only the anterior part of teeth and the group having even the part of premolars and the group having even the part of molars, and with regard to their satisfied degree of facial change, no significant difference of satisfaction appeared between the group having the part of premolars and the group having even the part of molars. 3. With regard to their satisfied degree of masticatory function, phonetic function, TMJ disorders, and facial change, no significant difference appeared between the group having both the anterior part of teeth and the part of premolars and the group attached with the Free-end RPD on the same conditions of the afore-said group.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of differences in computer-aided cognitive rehabilitation aimed at stroke patients on cognitive function and daily life. Methods: The study subjects were Gwangju, Jeonnam including the attention group (group I), memory group (group II), and visual perception group (group III), who were randomly placed in each of a 10 by one problem solving group (group IV). The PSSCogRehab was applied to all subjects who underwent eight weeks once a week after 20 minutes in each group by strengthening mediation 10 minutes 30 minutes total, with a five minute break in the middle. Results: Cognitive function and activities of daily living is security and inter-group differences before intervention, and post-test results in the memory training group II, the intervention group I, III, IV and more on cognitive function and activities of daily living compared to it was effective. Conclusion: The results of computer-aided cognitive rehabilitation measuring cognitive function and ADL in patients with stroke in accordance with the group I, III, and IV group cognitive function and activities of daily living compared to IV showed that it was more effective.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of group game play program on ADHD-liked children’s executive function. The game play program was implemented for children in experiment group to find out the effect of the group game play program on ADHD-liked executive function. The subjects of this study were 12 children (4th year elementary students), showing ADHD characteristics. 6 were put in experiment group and other 6 were put in control group randomly. The effectiveness of group game play on ADHD children’s executive function are as followings: The attention ability, behavior inhibition ability, cognitive flexibility of children in experiment group was improved more than in control group. It is concluded that group game play program is effective for ADHD-liked children’s executive function.

The goal of this study was to assess the effect of a group exercise program on cognitive function of elderly people. Subjects were chosen to be elders with dementia having minor to moderate degrees of cognitive function. Study was started out by randomly dividing the 16 subjects into two groups, each with 8 people; the group exercise group and the control group. The group exercise group performed 8 weeks of group exercise program and general physiotherapy while the control group only performed general physiotherapy. Cognitive function was measured by Korean version mini-mental state examination. The study group's attention and calculation statistically significantly improved but the control group saw no statistically significant change. The group exercise program affected improvement in cognitive function of elderly people with dementia and in particular, was effective for enhancing their attention and calculation.

PURPOSE : The purpose of this study was to determine whether tredmill exercise increases pulmonary function and decreases body mass index of the 20s obesity. METHOD : Thirty obesity in their 20s were randomly assigned to on experimental group (n=15) or control group (n=15). Over the course of four weeks, the experimental group participated in tredmill exercise for 30 minutes three times per week and the control group participated in auto-med exercise for 30 minutes three times per week. Subjects were assessed pre-test and post-test by measurement of pulmonary function (tidal volume, inspiration reserve volume, expiratory reserve volume, vital capacity) and body mass index. RESULT : Our findings show that the experimental group had significant difference in expiratory reserve volume and vital capacity and body mass index (p<.05). In the comparison of the two groups, the experimental group had higher pulmonary function and lower body mass index than the control group. CONCLUSION : In this study, the experimental group showed greater improvement in pulmonary function than the control group, which indicates that the tredmill exercise is effective at increasing the pulmonary function and body mass index 20s obesity.

Purpose: The impact of prolonged sitting in a cross-legged posture on physiological factors has not been extensively studied. We therefore attempted to evaluate whether prolonged sitting in a cross-legged posture affects pulmonary function in normal young adults. Methods: Twenty-four participants were recruited in this study, and the participants were equally allocated to the normal sitting posture group (NSP group, n=12) or sitting posture with the cross-legs group (SPCL group, n=12). The NSP group sat on chairs without crossing their legs for 30 minutes, and the SPCL group sat on the chair with legs crossed (the right knee on the left knee or the left knee on the right knee) for 30 minutes. The pulmonary function of the subjects was evaluated based on forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), FVC/FEV1, and peak expiratory flow (PEF) measured using a spirometer. Results: In the intra-group comparison, the SPCL group showed significant differences in FVC and FEV1 before and after sitting (p<0.05), but no significant differences (p>0.05) were observed in the NSP group. However, there were no significant differences between the two groups in the pulmonary function parameters measured before and after sitting (p>0.05). Conclusion: Our results confirmed that prolonged sitting in a cross-legged posture could have a negative influence on pulmonary function. Therefore, if a sitting position is maintained for a long time, the correct sitting posture should be maintained to prevent musculoskeletal disorders as well as to maintain normal pulmonary function.

Objective: This study was to develop and verify the effects of the exercise-cognitive combined dual-task training program on cognitive function and depression of the elderly with mild cognitive impairment(MCI). Methods: The subjects were randomly assigned to the exercise-cognitive combined dual-task training group(n=32) or single-task training group(n=31). To identify the effects on cognitive function, general cognitive function, frontal lobe function, and attention/working memory were measured. Depression was evaluated using Korean version of Geriatric Depression Scale. The outcome measurements were performed before and after the 8 weeks of intervention(2 days per week). Results: After 8 weeks, general cognitive function, frontal cognitive function, attention/working memory function, depression of the dual-task training group were significantly increased than those of the single-task training group(p<0.05). Conclusion: The results indicated that an exercise-cognitive combined dual-task training for MCI was effective in improving general cognitive function, frontal /executive function, attention/working memory function and reducing depression.
