Nutrients were investigated for surface water, bottom sediment and ground water in a rural watershed from January 2006 to March 2007. The concentrations of TN and $NO_3-N$ in ground water were higher than those in surface water due to fertilization on cabbage upland neighboring a river during March to August, but lower than those in surface water during September to February. However, the concentrations TP and $PO_4-P$ in ground water were lower than those in surface water. The concentrations of TP and $PO_4-P$ in surface water was lower than those in bottom sediment. The TP concentration in the bottom greatly decreased during rainy season. due to flush sediment of bottom, and then gradually increased.
Water supply plan by optimal conjunctive use of surface and ground water is studied to prepare expected water deficit in near future. The optimization model for conjunctive use of surface and ground water is developed using discrete differential dynamic programming technique to maximize net benefit by water supply. As a result of applying the model to Namdaechun river located in Yangyang, it is found that water supply reliability using optimal conjunctive use of surface and ground water is much higher than reliability using surface water alone.

A study on multivariate statistical classification of ground water hydrographs was conducted. The vast data of national ground water monitoring network (78 sites of alluvium) were used. 6 factors were selected to classify the ground water level change. Factor analysis was proved to be useful tool for classifying vast hydrogeological data.

The ground water regime analysis method, numerical analysis method, water budget method, and baseflow analysis method have been used for estimating ground water recharged quantity. This study, adapting water budget concept of unsaturated zone, and saturated zone of the DAWAST model, proposed a new method to estimate ground water recharged quantity.
Recently the ground-water development using the ground-water dam was proposed for the efficient use of the limited water resources especially for islands or seaside area. But in operating the ground-water dam adjacent to seaside an excessive pumping causes the sea-water intrusion which is caused by the drawdown of ground-water level. In this study, the effect of the recharging well method to reduce the sea-water intrusion was evaluated, and was applied to the downstream of the Ssangcheon ground-water dam site. The SUTRA model was used to simulate the salinity transport in the unsaturated and saturated zone. As the results, the effect of recharging method on the downstream of the ground-water dam was proven to be very efficient to reduce the salinity in the pumping well, and especially the best result was shown at the case that the recharging well is located at 40∼60m from the cutoff wall and the recharging rate is up to 6∼7%.

The objective of this study is to investigate the influence on the heating performance for a water-to-water 10RT ground source heat pump by using the water switching and refrigerant switching method. The test of water-to-water ground source heat pump was measured by varying the compressor speed, load side inlet temperature, and ground heat source side temperature. The heating capacity and COP of the heat pump increased with increasing ground heat source temperature. As a result, compared to a refrigerant switching method, the water switching method with counter flow improves the heating capacity and COP by approximately 5% in average, respectively.

Ground water source heat pump system is the oldest one of the ground source heat pump systems. Despite of this, little formal design information has been available until recently. The important design parameters for open system are the identification of optimum ground water flow, heat exchanger selection and well pump. In this study, the capacity of 50 RT system of two well type ground water heat pump system was used. As a result, static water level was -7 m and the level during the heating operation was -32 m, cooling operation was -40 m. The initial static water level recovered within 48 hrs. The temperature of ground water is $15.6^{\circ}C$ for heating season and $16.2^{\circ}C$ for cooling season and does not depend on the outdoor temperature. Operation efficiency of the system shows that, COP 3.1 for heating and COP 4.2 for cooling.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the respiratory function of patients with stroke was different on the ground and under water. Methods: We recruited 14 adults who had experienced a stroke (12 male, 2 female) for our study. We measured forced vital capacity, forced expiratory volume at one second, maximum inspiratory pressure, and maximum expiratory pressure when the participants breathed on the ground and under water. On the ground, the participants were safely supported using a table and chair and were measured in a standing posture. For measuring under water, the participants were immersed in water in a standing position to clavicle height. The participants were measured while standing, and the assistant supported them when they needed help. The collected data were analyzed by a paired t-test. Results: Forced vital capacity and forced expiratory volume at one second were significantly lower in water than on the ground when breathing at maximum. Maximum inspiratory pressure was not significantly different when standing on the ground or in water, but maximum expiratory pressure was significantly higher in water than on the ground. Conclusion: It has been confirmed that the hydrostatic pressure affecting stroke patients immersed in water affects the forced expiratory volume at one second while reducing the forced vital capacity and increasing the maximum expiratory pressure.
Water quality demonstrates physical, chemical and biological characteristics of water. The quality of surface and groundwater is currently an important concern with population growth and industrialization. Over exploitation of water resources due to demand is causing the deterioration of surface water and ground water. Periodic water quality testing must be carried out to protect our water resources. The present research analyses the spatial variation of surface water and groundwater in and around the lakes of Hyderabad. Twenty-Seven lakes and their neighboring bore water samples are obtained for water quality monitoring. Samples are evaluated for specific physico-chemical parameters such as pH, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Cl, SO4, Na, K, Ca, Mg, and Total Hardness (TH). The spatial variation of water quality parameters for the 27 lakes and groundwater were analysed. Correlation and multiple regression analysis were carried out to determine comparative study of lake and ground water. The study found that most of the lakes were polluted and this had an impact on surrounding ground water.

The purpose of this study is to propose an enhanced variable-speed control method of ground-water circulation pumps using inlet and outlet ground-water temperature difference and analyze its effect for the ground source multi-heat pump system installed in a single-family house. As a result, it has shown to significantly reduce the electricity use of ground-water circulation pump and improve overall system Coefficient of Performance (COP) due to the proposed variable-speed control under partial load conditions after oversized and inefficient single-speed pump retrofit.
