계통연계 풍력발전 시스템의 최대출력 제어를 위한 PI 제어기의 성능 분석 (Performance of PI Controller for Maximum Power Extraction of a Grid-Connected Wind Energy Conversion System)

  • This paper presents a modeling and simulation of a PI controller for maximum power extraction of a grid-connected wind energy conversion system with a link of a rectifier and an inverter. It discusses the maximum power control algorithm fnr a wind turbine and proposes, in a graphical form, the relationships of wind turbine output, rotor speed, power coefficient, tip-speed ratio with wind speed when the wind turbine is operated under the maximum power control. The control objective is to always extract maximum power from wind and transfer the power to the utility by controlling both the Pitch angle of the wind turbine blades and the inverter firing angle. Pitch control method is mechanically complicated, but the control performance is better than that of the stall regulation method. The simulation results performed on MATLAB will show the variation of generator's rotor angle and rotor speed, pitch angle, and generator output.

  • This paper elucidates a hysteresis current controller for enhancing the performance of static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) using cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter. Due to the rising power demand and growing conventional generation costs a new alternative in renewable energy source is gaining popularity and recognition. A five level single phase cascaded multilevel inverter with two separated dc sources, which is energized by photovoltaic - wind hybrid energy source. The voltages across the each dc source is balanced and standardized by the proposed hysteresis current controller. The performance of STATCOM is analyzed by connecting with grid connected system, under the steady state & dynamic state. To reduce the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and to improve the output voltage, closed loop hysteresis current control is achieved using PLL and PI controller. The performance of the proposed system is scrutinized through various simulation results using matlab/simulink and hardware results are also verified with simulation results.

  • 본 논문에서는 계통 연계형 태양광 발전 시스템의 새로운 FFT에 의한 위상추종 알고리즘을 제안한다. 신재생 에너지 분야에 적용되는 계통연계형 인버터에서는 계통과 동기를 위해서 반드시 계통의 위상 정보가 필요하다. 일반적으로 사용하는 3상 D-Q 변환에 의한 위상 추종과 달리 새롭게 제안하는 FFT를 사용하는 알고리즘은 게인튜닝 부분이 필요 없어 직접제어가 가능하며, FFT의 특성상 기본주파수 이외의 성분을 제외한 강력한 노이즈 제거효과로 인해 노이즈에 강한 특징을 가지고 있다. 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통하여 제안한 알고리즘의 성능이 만족함을 보였다.

Maximum Power Point Tracking Control Scheme for Grid Connected Variable Speed Wind Driven Self-Excited Induction Generator

  • This paper proposes a wind energy conversion system connected to a grid using a self-excited induction generator (SEIG) based on the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control scheme. The induction generator (IG) is controlled by the MPPT below the base speed and the maximum energy can be captured from the wind turbine. Therefore, the stator currents of the IG are optimally controlled using the indirect field orientation control (IFOC) according to the generator speed in order to maximize the generated power from the wind turbine. The SEIG feeds a (CRPWM) converter which regulates the DC-link voltage at a constant value where the speed of the IG is varied. Based on the IG d-q axes dynamic model in the synchronous reference frame at field orientation, high-performance synchronous current controllers with satisfactory performance are designed and analyzed. Utilizing these current controllers and IFOC, a fast dynamic response and low current harmonic distortion are attained. The regulated DC-link voltage feeds a grid connected CRPWM inverter. By using the virtual flux orientation control and the synchronous frame current regulators for the grid connected CRPWM inverter, a fast current response, low harmonic distortion and unity power factor are achieved. The complete system has been simulated with different wind velocities. The simulation results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed MPPT control scheme for a wind energy system. In the simulation results, the d-q axes current controllers and DC-link voltage controller give prominent dynamic response in command tracking and load regulation characteristics.

  • In this paper, a operating characteristics of the 50 kW grid-connected Photovoltaic(PV) Power system which is by means of initial PV datum analyzing is reported. The development of a 50 kW class photovoltaic power generation system including a DC/AC inverter is suggested to investigate the system performance for grid connection. The results of the demonstration test of a 50 kW class grid-connected PV system show that the system utilization rate is 15.6% and the inverter efficiency is 94% at 80% load.

  • This paper presents a robust current control in a three phase grid connected inverter using an LCL filter. This controller is based on the optimal control theory and typically designed in a complex-valued state-space. The proposed current controller has a robust tracking performance for the grid voltage harmonics and robustness to parameter error and load variation. Finally, the simulation results are presented to verify the validity of the proposed method.

  • A new simple and effective scheme to improve power quality for a grid-connected inverter in distributed generation systems under distorted grid voltages will be presented. The proposed scheme is constructed with two controllers to regulate fundamental and harmonic components separately. In order to accomplish the proposed control scheme, the fourth order band pass filter is used to extract harmonic components from distorted gird voltages. Then, the undesired harmonic components are excellently suppressed by proportional decoupling controller. Experimental results are presented to verify the simplicity and effectiveness of proposed scheme.

  • 태양 에너지는 재생 가능하고 오염이 없는 특성으로 바람직한 에너지 원이다. 계통에 이용하기 위해서는 dc-dc 컨버터와 계통 연계 do-ac 인버터가 필요하다. dc-dc 컨버터는 태양광 시스템이 높은 dc전압에 동작하기 위하여 필요하고, 인버터는 계통에 연결하기 위하여 필요한 전압과 주파수를 만들어 내는데 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 첫째로 단상 계통 연계 인버터에서 전류 루프 전달 함수가 유도되고, 둘째로 컨버터 측에서 컨덕턴스 증가 방식의 MPPT 방식이 제안하여 인버터 측에 최대 전력을 공급하는데 있다. 시뮬레이션 결과가 계통에서 태양광 인버터 시스템의 성능과 특성을 보여준다.

Single-Phase Inverter for Grid-Connected and Intentional Islanding Operations in Electric Utility Systems

  • Small distributed generation units are usually connected to the main electric grid through single-phase voltage source inverters. Grid operating conditions such as voltage and frequency are not constant and can fluctuate within the range values established by international standards. Furthermore, the requirements in terms of power factor correction, total harmonic distortion, and reliability are getting tighter day by day. As a result, the implementation of reliable and efficient control algorithms, which are able to adjust their control parameters in response to changeable grid operating conditions, is essential. This paper investigates the configuration topology and control algorithm of a single-phase inverter with the purpose of achieving high performance in terms of efficiency as well as total harmonic distortion of the output current. Accordingly, a Second Order Generalized Integrator with a suitable Phase Locked Loop (SOGI-PLL) is the basis of the proposed current and voltage regulation. Some practical issues related to the control algorithm are addressed, and a solution for the control architecture is proposed, based on resonant controllers that are continuously tuned on the basis of the actual grid frequency. Further, intentional islanding operation is investigated and a possible procedure for switching from grid-tied to islanding operation and vice-versa is proposed.

  • 태양광 발전시스템 등에서 전력을 공급하기 위한 계통연계 인버터에서 계통전압의 동기화를 위하여 PLL시스템이 많이 사용되어 왔다. 본 논문은 단상 및 3상 계통연계 인버터의 동기화 성능을 향상시키기 위하여 루프필터 및 PI 제어기가 없는 PLL 알고리즘을 제시한다. 단상 또는 3상 계통전압으로 유도한 2상 전압을 사용하여 위상 검출기 출력이 직류성분만 있으면서 동기화되었을 때 0이 되도록 궤환신호를 결정한다. 소신호 해석방법으로 비례제어기를 사용한 PLL시스템을 모델링하여 안정도 및 정상상태 오차를 관찰한다. 시뮬레이션 및 실험결과를 통하여 제시한 PLL알고리즘의 타당성을 확인한다.
