  • This paper presents a new forward-viewing mono-camera based obstacle detection algorithm for mobile robots. The proposed method extracts the coarse location of an obstacle in an image using inverse perspective mapping technique from sequential images. In the next step, graph-cut based image labeling is conducted for estimating the exact obstacle boundary. The graph-cut based labeling algorithm labels the image pixels as either obstacle or floor as the final outcome. Experiments are performed to verify the obstacle detection performance of the developed algorithm in several examples, including a book, box, towel, and flower pot. The low illumination condition, low color contrast between floor and obstacle, and floor pattern cases are also tested.

  • From the experimental study of W-EDM for alloyed steel, the characteristics such as Hand Drum Form and surface roughness have been observed and evaluated for various conditions. In square hole, the increase of IP as to made condition, the calculate high value of surface roughness. Also compare dimensionless square hole with circle hole' graph, In circle hole, if a value of surface roughness IP 6 in a side of circle it show a 0.4${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and in IP 8, 0.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, in IP 10, 0.7${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, in IP 12, 0.8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ higher than before. This figure show the surface roughness is higher than before, because a table move in either X-axis or Y-axis in square hole, on the contrary, in circle there table move in X-axis and Y-axis at the same time. hand drum form getting small when wire tension increase 1000gf to 1500gf, at the same working conditions. The smaller of off time, the maller of hand drum form in same condition and same wire tension. but if you compare square hole with circle hole' graph, hand drum form displayed in maintained term of working condision, on the contrary, in case of square hole variation of hand drum form is more increase than a grow of IP

  • In this paper, we proposed a advanced approach to resolve the trade-off problem for the threshold value determining the photo-consistency in the previous algorithms. The threshold value for the surface voxel is substituted the photo-consistency value of the inside voxel. As iterating the voxel coloring process, the threshold is approached to the optimal value for the individual surface voxel. we present an energy minimization formulation of the binary labeling problem that surface voxels classify into opacity or transparency. The energy formula consists of the data term and the smoothness term. As considering neighboring voxels in the labeling problem, the unevenness of reconstructed surface is reduced. The labeling whose energy is the global minimum can be computed using a graph cut.

  • This paper proposes a method for detection of objects temporally stop moving in video sequences taken by a moving camera. Even though the consequence of missed detection of those objects could be catastrophic in terms of application level requirements, not much attention has been paid in conventional approaches. In the proposed method, we introduce cues for consistent detection and tracking of objects: motion potential, position potential, and color distribution similarity. Integration of the three cues in the graph-cut algorithm makes possible to detect objects that temporally stop moving and are newly appearing. Experiment results prove that the proposed method can not only detect moving objects but also track objects stop moving.

  • Seam finding algorithm is one of the most important techniques to construct the high quality 360 VR image. We found that some degradations, such as ghost effect, are generated when the conventional seam finding algorithms (for examples, Voronoi algorithm, Dynamic Programming algorithm, Graph Cut algorithm) are applied, because those make the inefficient masks which cross the body of main objects. In this paper, we proposed an advanced seam finding algorithm providing the efficient masks which go through background region, instead of the body of objects. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional techniques in the viewpoint of the quality of the stitched image.

  • This paper proposes a method for segmenting objects from the background in IR(Infrared) images based on GrabCut algorithm. The GrabCut algorithm needs the window encompassing the interesting known object. This procedure is processed by user. However, to apply it for object recognition problems in image sequences. the location of window should be determined automatically. For this, we adopted the Otsu' algorithm for segmenting the interesting but unknown objects in an image coarsely. After applying the Otsu' algorithm, the window is located automatically by blob analysis. The GrabCut algorithm needs the probability distributions of both the candidate object region and the background region surrounding closely the object for estimating the Gaussian mixture models(GMMs) of the object and the background. The probability distribution of the background is computed from the background window, which has the same number of pixels within the candidate object region. Experiments for various IR images show that the proposed method is proper to segment out the interesting object in IR image sequences. To evaluate performance of proposed segmentation method, we compare other segmentation methods.

  • Adaptive routing methods are studied for effective routing in many topologies where occurrence of the faulty nodes are inevitable. Mesh topology provides simplicity in implementing these methods. Many routing methods for mesh are able to tolerate a large number of faults enclosed by a rectangular faulty block. But they consider even good nodes in the faulty block as faulty nodes. Hence, it results the degradation of node utilization. This problem is solved by a method which transmits messages to destinations within faulty blocks via multiple “intermediate nodes”. It also divides faulty block into multiple expanded meshes. With these expanded meshes, DAG(Directed Acyclic Graph) is formed and a message is able to be routed by the shortest path according to the DAG. Therefore, the additional number of hops can be resulted. We propose a method that reduces the number of hops by searching direct paths from the destination node to the border of the faulty block. This path is called SCP(Short-Cut Path). If the path and the traversing message is on the same side of outside border of the faulty block, the message will cut into the path found by our method. It also reduces the message traverse latency between the source and the destination node.

  • The demand for wire-cut EDM is increasing rapidly in the die and tool making industry. In this study machining characteristics such as machining rate, surface roughness, hand drum form and hardness of machined material are investigated experimentally under the conditions varing pulse on time, pulse off time, peak voltage, wire tension after fixing other conditions in SKD 11 and brass and brass workpiece. It was found that various operating conditions had significant influences on machining characteristics. But the hardness of workpiece was uneffected by operating conditions. Also it was obtained experimentally that brass workpeice had better machinability than SKD 11 one.dition according to the current(Ip) in an electric spark machine : 1) Electrode is utilized Cu and Graphite. 2) Work piece is used the material of carbon steel. • Motion capture devices have been utilized in producing several contents, such as movies and video games. However, since motion capture devices are expensive and inconvenient to use, motions segmented from captured data was recycled and synthesized to utilize it in another contents, but the motions were generally segmented by contents producers in manual. Therefore, automatic motion segmentation is recently getting a lot of attentions. Previous approaches are divided into on-line and off-line, where ow line approaches segment motions based on similarities between neighboring frames and off-line approaches segment motions by capturing the global characteristics in feature space. In this paper, we propose a graph-based high-level motion segmentation method. Since high-level motions consist of repeated frames within temporal distances, we consider similarities between neighboring frames as well as all similarities among all frames within the temporal distance. This is achieved by constructing a graph, where each vertex represents a frame and the edges between the frames are weighted by their similarity. Then, normalized cuts algorithm is used to partition the constructed graph into several sub-graphs by globally finding minimum cuts. In the experiments, the results using the proposed method showed better performance than PCA-based method in on-line and GMM-based method in off-line, as the proposed method globally segment motions from the graph constructed based similarities between neighboring frames as well as similarities among all frames within temporal distances.
