  • A novel topological index (TG Index) has been introduced. The graphical matrix representation of the TG index includes the use of directed subgraphs for the first time in graph theory literature. The application of the TG index on certain properties of polyenes yielded very well correlation data.

  • This paper deals with a problem on the selection of alternative tools in a flexible manufacturing system (FMS) where a lot of tools are required to produce a large variety of product items. An approach using branch and bound method is proposed to minimize a total number of tools required through the optimal use of the alternative tools. In this approach, tools are initially divided into tool subgroups based on graph theory for the purpose of the effective search of the optimal solution. A small example is also presented to highlight the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • Odd networks were introduced in the context of graph theory. However, their potential as fault-tolerant multiprocessor networks has been shown. Broadcasting is one of the most important communication primitives used in multiprocessor networks. In this letter, we introduce efficient one-to-all broadcasting schemes of odd networks for one-port and all-port models. We show the broadcasting time of the former is 2d-2 and that of the latter is d-1. The total time steps taken by the proposed algorithms are optimal.

  • Among the numerous topological indices considered in chemical graph theory, only a few have been found noteworthy in practical application, Randi$\acute{c}$ index is one of them. The dendrimer nanostars is a synthesized molecule built up from branched unit called monomers. In this article, we compute the Randi$\acute{c}$ index of two types of polymer dendrimers and a fullerene dendrimer.

  • Recently $L_{\delta}$-groups were introduced in the study of geometric group theory. Three levels of $L_{\delta}$-groups are difined and discussed. It is shown that each of these levels of $L_{\delta}$-groups is closed under taking a direct product.

  • This paper presents a method of constructing the switching function using edge-valued decision diagrams. The proposed method is as following. The edge-valued decision diagram is a new data structure type of decision diagram which is recently used in constructing the digital logic systems based on the graph theory. Next, we apply edge-valued decision diagram to function minimization of digital logic systems. The proposed method has the visible, schematic and regular properties.

  • Existing CAD systems do nto provide the advanced function for systematic checking of design and drafting errors in mechanical drawings. This paper describes a method for sytematic checking of global parts in mechanical drawings. The checking items are deficiency and redundancy of dimensions, input-errors in dimension figures and symbols, etc. Checking for deficiency and redundancy of global dimensions has been performed applying Graph Theory. This system has been applied to several examples and we have confirmed the feasibility of this checing method.

  • In case of Korea, while discrete mathematics is included in the traditional school curriculum the 7th Educational Reform adds a new topic of Graph Theory making it an optional subject of highschool mathematics. However, a systematic research on the curriculum of discrete mathematics is still unsatisfactory. This study is focused on comparing the curriculum of discrete mathematics in Korea with that of other countries including the United States, Britain, Japan, and Canada. Consequently, it looks into problems concerning the school curriculum of discrete mathematics in Korea to devise a proper measure to improve.

  • We investigate the number of the nontrivial solutions of the nonlinear biharmonic equation with Dirichlet boundary condition. We give a theorem that there exist at least three nontrivial solutions for the nonlinear biharmonic problem. We prove this result by the finite dimensional reduction method and the shape of the graph of the corresponding functional on the finite reduction subspace.
