Purpose: To determine the benefits of autogenous tooth bone (ATB) graft in combination with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in the rates of success and survival of dental implants placed simultaneously with maxillary sinus floor augmentation (MSFA). Materials and Methods: Patients who visited the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Ulsan University Hospital from 2012 to 2014 and underwent simultaneous placement of implants with MSFA using ATB plus PRP were included in the study. Success and survival rates of the implants were evaluated based on the parameters of age and sex of the patient, site, follow-up period, residual bone height before surgery, diameter, and length of implant, sinus mucosa impairment, and postoperative complications. Result: A total of 23 patients and 67 implants were included in this study. The average age of the patients was $53.78{\pm}10.00$ years. The average follow-up period after installation of the prosthesis was $53{\pm}5$ months. The success and survival rates of the implants after placement of prosthesis were 95.52% and 97.01%, respectively. Conclusion: Combination of ATB and PRP showed high overall success rate, and it can be concluded that this combination is a predictable bone graft procedure for MSFA.
Purpose: Paraffin has been used to augment depressed nasal contour for many years by illegally. Reported complications of nasal paraffinoma were skin thinning, displacement of nasal profile, redness, chronic inflammation and malignant change to skin cancer. The current authors report results of the secondary rhinoplasty after excision of nasal paraffinoma. Methods: Through the open rhinoplasty incision, paraffinoma was removed under direct vision. Saline irrigation and meticulous hemostasis were performed. Simultaneously, the secondary depressed nasal deformity was corrected with autogenous dermofat graft harvested from inferior gluteal fold. The dermofat was fixed to the nasofrontal area with bolster suture, and the interdormal area of the tip. Results: A total of 13 patients underwent secondary augmentation with autogenous dermofat graft after removal of paraffinoma from 2000 to 2004. The mean follow-up period was 15 months. There were no postoperative complications. All patients were satisfied with their surgical results. However, there were 10 to 20 percent resorption of the grafted dermofat. Conclusion: It is suggest that autogenous dermofat be one of good materials for the correction of the secondary deformity after removal of nasal paraffinoma. In addition, autogenous dermofat graft presented easy harvesting and manipulation for transfer, high survival rate by firm fixation to the recipient site and stable surgical results.
Simultaneous implant installation with bone graft was performed in 15 cases. Four cases were cleft alveolus patients. 56 implants were placed immediately with block bone grafts. 2 cases were cranial bone grafts and the others were iliac bone grafts. Three of 56 implants were lost(94.6% Survival rate). One of three was cleft alveolus case. The cleft alveolus patients with simultaneous implants installation showed functional and esthetic results without infraocclusion and positional changes. Bergland index was considered to be type I after 12 months later. Immediate implant installation with bone graft is one of choice of treatment in closing cleft alveolus hoping simultaneous implant installation could be related with function which might result in less resorption of graft. Functional and esthetic results are satisfaction ; there was no infraocclusion and positional changes.

Background A tie-over dressing is the accepted method to secure skin grafts in order to prevent haematoma or seroma formation. We describe the novel application of a barbed suture tie-over for skin graft dressing. The barbs act as anchors in the skin so constant tensioning of the suture is not required. Methods From January 2014 to August 2014 we used the technique in 30 patients with skin defects requiring split-thickness or full-thickness grafts. Patient demographics, clinicopathological details and graft outcome were collected prospectively. Results The majority of cases were carried out for split-thickness skin grafts (n=19) used on the lower limb (n=20). The results of this novel technique were excellent with complete (100%) graft take in all patients. Conclusions Our results demonstrate the clinical application of a barbed device for securing skin grafts with excellent results. We find the technique quick to perform and the barbed device easy to handle, which can be applied without the need for an assistant.

Objectives: This study evaluated implant success rate, survival rate, marginal bone resorption of implants, and material resorption of sinus bone graft in cases wherein tapered body implants were installed. Materials and Methods: From September 2003 to January 2006, 20 patients from Seoul National University Bundong Hospital, with a mean age of 54.7 years, were considered. The mean follow-up period was 19 months. This study covered 50 implants; 14 implants were placed in the maxillary premolar area, and 36 in the maxillary molar area; 24 sinuses were included. Results: The success rate was 92%, and the survival rate was 96.0%. The mean amount of sinus augmentation was $12.35{\pm}3.27$ mm. The bone graft resorption rate one year after surgery was $0.97{\pm}0.84$ mm; that for the immediate implantation group was $0.91{\pm}0.86$ mm, and that for the delayed implantation group was $1.16{\pm}0.77$ mm. However, the difference was not statistically significant. The mean marginal bone resorption one year after restoration was $0.17{\pm}0.27$ mm (immediate group: $0.12{\pm}0.23$ mm; delayed group $0.40{\pm}0.33$ mm); statistically significant difference was observed between the two groups. Conclusion: Tapered body implant can be available in the maxillary posterior edentulous ridge which sinus bone graft is necessary.

Introduction: This study examined the cumulative resorption of implants placed in a severely atrophic mandible and analyzed the radiologic bone resorption in the marginal bone, after an autogenous bone graft including both block and particulates that had been harvested from the ramus and iliac crest. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study was performed on patients who had bone grafts for augmentation followed by implant installation in the mandible area from 2003 to 2008. Twelve patients (6 men and 6 women) who received 34 implants in the augmented sites were evaluated. Cumulative radiologic resorption around the implants was measured immediately, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months after implant installation surgery. Results: The installed implant in grafted bone showed 0.84 mm marginal bone resorption after 3 months and 50% total cumulative resorption after 1 year. The mean marginal bone resorption around the implant installed in the grafted bone was 0.44 mm after 3 months, 0.52 mm after 1 year, after which it stabilized. The implant survival rate was 97% (failed implant was 1/34). Marginal bone resorption of the installed implant in the autogenous onlay block bone grafts was 0.98 mm after 3 months, which was significantly higher than that of a particulated bone graft (0.74 mm) (P <0.05). Conclusion: An autogenous graft including block type and particulate type is a predictable procedure for the use of dental implants in a severely atrophic mandible. Implant placement in augmented areas show a relatively high survival and minimal bone loss, as revealed by a radiologic evaluation.

Background: The endovascular approach to aortic disease treatment has been increasingly utilized in the past 2 decades. This study aimed to determine the long-term results of using the Seal thoracic stent graft. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the outcomes of patients who underwent thoracic endovascular aortic repair or a hybrid procedure using the Seal thoracic stent graft (S&G Biotech, Seongnam, Korea) from January 2008 to July 2018 at a single institution. We investigated in-hospital mortality and the incidence of postoperative complications. We also investigated the mid-term survival rate and incidence of aorta-related complications. Results: Among 72 patients with stent grafts, 15 patients underwent the hybrid procedure and 21 underwent emergency surgery. The mean follow-up period was $37.86{\pm}30.73$ months (range, 0-124 months). Five patients (6.9%) died within 30 days. Two patients developed cerebrovascular accidents. Spinal cord injury occurred in 2 patients. Postoperative renal failure, postoperative extracorporeal membrane oxygenation support, and pneumonia were reported in 3, 1, and 6 patients, respectively. Stent-related aortic complications were observed in 5 patients (6.8%). The 1- and 5-year survival and freedom from stent-induced aortic event rates were 81.5% and 58.7%, and 97.0% and 89.1%, respectively. Conclusion: The use of the Seal thoracic stent graft yielded good mid-term results. Further studies are needed to examine the long-term outcomes of this device.

Background: This study evaluated the early, 1-year, and 3-year graft patency rates and mid-term clinical outcomes after no-touch saphenous veins (NT-SVs) were used as aortocoronary grafts in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Methods: In total, 101 patients who underwent CABG using NT-SVs as aortocoronary grafts were included. The 2 most common indications for performing aortocoronary grafting with NT-SVs were unavailability of the left internal thoracic artery (n=36) and moderate lesions where flow competition was expected (n=27). Early (median, 1 day; interquartile range [IQR], 1-2 days), 1-year (median, 13 months; IQR, 11-16 months), and 3-year (median, 34 months; IQR, 27-41 months) graft angiography was performed in 98 (97.0%), 84 (83.2%), and 40 patients (39.6%), respectively. The median follow-up duration was 43 months (IQR, 13-76 months). Overall survival rates and the cumulative incidence of major adverse cardiac events were evaluated. Results: The operative mortality rate was 2% (2 of 101 patients). Early postoperative patency rates for overall and aortocoronary NT-SV grafts were 98.2% (223 of 227 distal anastomoses) and 98.2% (164 of 167), respectively. The 1- and 3-year patency rates for aortocoronary SV grafts were 94.9% (131 of 138) and 90.6% (58 of 64), respectively. The overall survival rates at 5 and 10 years were 81.7% and 59%, respectively. The cumulative incidence of major adverse cardiac events at 5 and 10 postoperative years was 20.7% and 39%, respectively. Conclusion: The feasibility of using NT-SVs as aortocoronary grafts in CABG was shown in this study, based on the graft patency rates up to 3 years and the mid-term clinical outcomes.
Purpose: This study evaluated the clinical applications of implant placement and guided bone regeneration using a mineralized bone allograft and a barrier membrane derived from ox pericardium Methods: From January 2007 to June 2009, among the patients who received an implant at Chosun University Dental Hospital, patients were selected if they were treated with guided bone regeneration (GBR) with simultaneous implant placement or GBR prior to implant placement. The selected patients were sorted according to the materials and membranes used in GBR, and the implant survival rate was recorded by clinical examination and reviewing the medical records and the radiographs. Each study list was analyzed by SPSS (version 12.0, SPSS Inc., USA) software and the survival rate was verified by Chi-square tests. $P$ values less than 0.05% were deemed significant. Results: 278 implants were placed on a total of 101 patients and 8 implants resulted in failure. Three implants failed among 15 implants with only a mineralized bone allograft. No failure was shown among the 74 implants placed with mineralized bone allograft and a barrier membrane derived from ox pericardium. One group of 4 implant placements showed failure among the 102 implants placed with a mineralized bone allograft and another bone graft material. The group that had a barrier membrane derived from ox pericardium with a mineralized bone allograft or other bone materials showed no implant failure. Three failures were shown among the 21 implants placed with only bone graft and not using a membrane. The group with membranes other than a barrier membrane derived from ox pericardium showed 5 failures among 170 implants. Conclusion: The implant survival rate of the group with GBR using a mineralized bone allograft was 96.3%, which meant there was little difference compared to the groups of another bone graft materials (98.9%). The implant survival rate of the group without a membrane-was 85.7% and it showed a significant difference compared to the group using a barrier membrane derived from ox pericardium (100%) and the group using another membrane (97.1%).
Missing of the upper posterior dentition can cause alveolar bone resorption & pneumatization of Maxillary sinus wall, which makes traditional implant placement impossible, The solution includes various methods to the posterior maxilla to provide adequate bone support for implant installation and long-term survival. -- sinus floor elevation, sinus-lift graft, inlay graft using LeFort I osteotomy, onlay graft, This is a clinical Sr. retrospective study on implant surgery & prosthodontic restoration with upper edentulous posterior jaw from Jan. 1990. to Jun. 1997 at implant clinic of Chonbuk National University Hospital. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Six hundred ninety-nine implants were placed on upper posterior jaw of two hundred seventeen patients, among them one hundred sixty-five implants were placed in forty-four patients with sinus lift. 2. The height of the remained alveolar bone was classified on the base of Misch's concept. This included seventy-nine SA-1s, ninety-seven SA-2s, sixty-five SA-3s and sixty SA-4s. 3. Ninety percent of implants were successfully integrated in non-grafted area and eighty-seven percent of implants were successully integrated in sinus lift area.
