This paper deals with the dynamic hand gesture recognition based on computer vision using neural networks. This paper proposes a global search method and a local search method to recognize the hand gesture. The global search recognizes a hand among the hand candidates through the entire image search, and the local search recognizes and tracks only the hand through the block search. Dynamic hand gesture recognition method is based on the skin-color and shape analysis with the invariant moment and direction information. Starting point and ending point of the dynamic hand gesture are obtained from hand shape. Experiments have been conducted for hand extraction, hand recognition and dynamic hand gesture recognition. Experimental results show the validity of the proposed method.
This dissertation proposes a global search and a local search method to track the object in real-time. The global search recognizes a target object among the candidate objects through the entire image search, and the local search recognizes and track only the target object through the block search. This dissertation uses the object color and feature information to achieve fast object recognition. Finally we conducted an experiment for the object tracking system based on a pan/tilt structure.
To the unconstrained programme of non-convex function, this article give a modified BFGS algorithm. The idea of the algorithm is to modify the approximate Hessian matrix for obtaining the descent direction and guaranteeing the efficacious of the quasi-Newton iteration pattern. We prove the global convergence properties of the algorithm associating with the general form of line search, and prove the quadratic convergence rate of the algorithm under some conditions.
A hybrid search method based on the artificial bee colony algorithm (ABCA) with harmony search (HS) is suggested for finding a global solution in the field of optimization. Three cases of the suggested algorithm were examined for improving the accuracy and convergence rate. The results showed that the case in which the harmony search was implemented with the onlooker phase in ABCA was the best among the three cases. Although the total computation time of the best case is a little bit longer than the original ABCA under the prescribed conditions, the global solution improved and the convergence rate was slightly faster than those of the ABCA. It is concluded that the suggested algorithm improves the accuracy and convergence rate, and it is expected that it can effectively be applied to optimization problems with many design variables and local solutions.
This paper presents an extended computing procedure for the global optimization of the triple response system (TRS) where the response functions are nonconvex (nonconcave) quadratics and the input factors satisfy a radial region of interest. The TRS arising from response surface modeling can be approximated using a nonlinear mathematical program involving one primary (objective) function and two secondary (constraints) functions. An optimization algorithm named triple response surface algorithm (TRSALG) is proposed to determine the global optimum for the nondegenerate TRS. In TRSALG, the Lagrange multipliers of target (secondary) functions are computed by using the Hooke-Jeeves search method, and the Lagrange multiplier of the radial constraint is located by using the trust region (TR) method at the same time. To ensure global optimality that can be attained by TRSALG, included is the means for detecting the degenerate case. In the field of numerical optimization, as the family of TR approach always exhibits excellent mathematical properties during optimization steps, thus the proposed algorithm can guarantee the global optimal solution where the optimality conditions are satisfied for the nondegenerate TRS. The computing procedure is illustrated in terms of examples found in the quality literature where the comparison results with a gradient-based method are used to calibrate TRSALG.
In this paper, an efficient hybrid nonlinear conjugate gradient method is proposed to solve general unconstrained optimization problems on the basis of CD method [2] and DY method [5], which possess the following property: the sufficient descent property holds without any line search. Under the Wolfe line search conditions, we proved the global convergence of the hybrid method for general nonconvex functions. The numerical results show that the hybrid method is especially efficient for the given test problems, and it can be widely used in scientific and engineering computation.
Engineering applications of global optimization techniques are recently abundant in the literature and it may be caused by both new methodologies arising and faster computers coming out. Many of the optimization techniques are based on natural or biological phenomena. This study put focus on enhancing the performace of Cuckoo Search (CS) among them since it has the least number of parameters to tune. The proposed enhancement can be achieved by applying surrogate-based optimization at every cycle of CS, which fortifies the exploitation capability of the original method. The enhanced algorithm has been applied several engineering design problems with constraints. The proposed method shows comparable or superior performance to the original method.
Global sensitivity analysis (GSA) has been widely used to investigate the sensitivity of the model output with respect to its input parameters. In this paper a new single-solution search optimization algorithm is developed based on the GSA, and applied to the size optimization of truss structures. In this method the search space of the optimization is determined using the sensitivity indicator of variables. Unlike the common meta-heuristic algorithms, where all the variables are simultaneously changed in the optimization process, in this approach the sensitive variables of solution are iteratively changed more rapidly than the less sensitive ones in the search space. Comparisons of the present results with those of some previous population-based meta-heuristic algorithms demonstrate its capability, especially for decreasing the number of fitness functions evaluations, in solving the presented benchmark problems.
We propose a quantized gradient search algorithm that can achieve global optimization by monotonically reducing the quantization step with respect to time when quantization is composed of integer or fixed-point fractional values applied to an optimization algorithm. According to the white noise hypothesis states, a quantization step is sufficiently small and the quantization is well defined, the round-off error caused by quantization can be regarded as a random variable with identically independent distribution. Thus, we rewrite the searching equation based on a gradient descent as a stochastic differential equation and obtain the monotonically decreasing rate of the quantization step, enabling the global optimization by stochastic analysis for deriving an objective function. Consequently, when the search equation is quantized by a monotonically decreasing quantization step, which suitably reduces the round-off error, we can derive the searching algorithm evolving from an optimization algorithm. Numerical simulations indicate that due to the property of quantization-based global optimization, the proposed algorithm shows better optimization performance on a search space to each iteration than the conventional algorithm with a higher success rate and fewer iterations.
Web 2.0 has features produced the content through the user of the participation and share. The content production activities have became active since social network service appear. The social bookmark, one of social network service, is service that lets users to store useful content and share bookmarked contents between personal users. Unlike Internet search engines such as Google and Naver, the content stored on social bookmark is searched based on tag keyword information and unnecessary information can be excluded. Social bookmark can make users access to selected content. However, quick access to content that users want is difficult job because of the user of the participation and share. Our paper suggests a method recommending search word to be able to access quickly to content. A method is suggested by using Collaborative Filtering and Jaccard similarity coefficient. The performance of suggested system is verified with experiments that compare by 'Delicious' and "Feeltering' with our system.
