STEAM 프로그램이 초등영재학생의 과학적 의사소통능력과 학습몰입에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of STEAM Program on the Scientific Communication Skills and the Learning Flow of Elementary Gifted Students)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of STEAM program on the scientific communication skills and the learning flow of elementary gifted students. The main findings of this study are as follows: First, STEAM program that mathematical, technical, engineering and art factors were combined based on basic concepts of science were developed. Seconds, the change in the scientific communication skills of experimental group applying STEAM program had statistically meaningful difference (p<.05). Third, the flow of experimental class improved, but it had no meaningful difference statistically (p>.05). But it is expected that continuing level adjusted STEAM program might have positive effect on improving the flow with the following three reasons: 1) The gifted students' flow level on learning before experiment was rather too high to expect short term effect. 2) It was hard for them to achieve flow experience because topic difficulties and students' capacities were not balanced. 3) topic commitments and autotelic behaviors of gifted students were observed during classes. Fourth, by the result of the student satisfaction questionnaire survey on this program, students actively participated in the STEAM program with interest and curiosity. As achieved self-directed problem solving, versatile communication activities and success experiences, their class satisfaction was high. Based on such results, it was expected that the gifted class applied of STEAM program could enhance scientific communication capacity of the elementary gifted students and would further positively influence flow of learning as well. In addition, it was considered to have integrated approach value to elementary gifted and talented education in the aspect that it could satisfy various educational demands of gifted students.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of science based enrichment STEAM gifted program on the creative thinking activities and emotional intelligence of elementary science gifted students. The study subjects were two science gifted classes of the 5th grade of local Office of Education in B Metropolitan City. One class including 20 students was experimental group and the other including 20 students was comparison group. For the purpose of study, the lesson unit 'The world of light through science' was practised, the science based enrichment STEAM gifted program was applied to experimental group, whereas comparison group was taught traditional gifted lesson. The results of this study were as follows. First, science based enrichment STEAM gifted program influenced significantly the improvement of the creative thinking activities of elementary science gifted students. Second, science based enrichment STEAM gifted program was showed to enhance the emotional intelligence of elementary science gifted students significantly.

  • Gifted education has been becoming a focus of every field in Chinese society as a special educational mode, since Special Class for the Gifted Youth in the University of Science and Technology of China began to enroll students. In this paper we first introduce the developing procedure of the gifted education in China, and then recommend and analyze the characteristics of a successful gifted educational base in China. At length, we probe into the problems that exist in process of carrying on the gifted education in China for reference.

관찰·추천제에 의한 영재교육대상자 선발에서 심사결과의 신뢰도 및 타당도 분석 (Analysis of the Reliability and Validity of Selection Results of the Gifted Student by Observation and Nomination System)

  • 본 연구는 대학부설 과학영재교육원에서 관찰 추천제에 의한 선발 및 융합과학전공의 도입 후에 학생 선발과 교육 내용 구성이 어느 정도 타당하게 진행되었는지를 분석해 보고 문제점을 파악하여, 향후 과학영재교육원의 학생 선발과 융합과학 전공 운영을 위한 제안을 하고자 하는 목적에서 실시되었다. 이를 위해 한 대학부설 과학영재교육원 융합과학전공의 입학사정 결과를 분석해 보고, 입학 성적과 입학 후 융합과학전공에서의 수행 능력과의 상관관계를 분석해 보았다. 그 결과 관찰 추천제가 추천자 및 심사자 대한 의존도가 높은 선발 방식임에도 불구하고 심사자들 사이의 관점이 매우 다른 것으로 나타났으며, 선발과 입학 후 교육이 일관성 있게 이루어지지 못했다는 문제점이 나타났다.

Proposing a Pre-service Teacher Training Program for the Gifted Education

  • Since 1998, an elementary teacher education institute in Korea has hosted the center for the gifted education. The institute hired undergraduate students to escort and liaison each class of the gifted student participants with assisting classroom activities. These liaison teachers observed the gifted classroom activities and evaluated them by using a given checklist and filling out pre-made evaluation forms. Currently this system is being transferred from part-time jobs for students to earn allowance into well organized pre-service teacher program focusing on the gifted education. In other words, the purpose of system is being shifted from how liaison teachers facilitate the gifted program to how the system helps the liaison teachers to be quality teachers for the gifted who can understand what the gifted are and how to facilitate them. Analyzed were the self reports of the liaison teachers regarding their perceptions and beliefs of the gifted and their education program. It was found participant liaison teachers purposed to have more live experiences with getting along with students as well. Liaison teachers’ perceptions on establishing a gifted teacher professional education sequence were reported in this study. The potential scaffolding of the pre-service teacher education program model of the gifted education was provided as a consequence of this study.

중학교 일반학급과 영재학급의 과학수업에서 교사와 학생사이의 언어적 상호작용 비교 분석 (Comparative Analysis of Verbal Interaction between Teachers and Students for the Gifted and the General Science Class in Middle School)

  • 이 연구는 중학교 일반학급과 영재학급의 과학수업을 관찰하여 교사의 발문과 피드백, 학생의 응답에 대한 유형과 빈도 분석을 통해 교사와 학생사이의 언어적 상호작용을 비교 분석한 것이다. 연구 결과, 일반학급의 과학수업에서 교사들은 교과서의 내용을 정리해서 묻거나 그대로 안내하는 발문을 많이 사용하였고, 재진술 형태의 즉각 피드백을 주로 사용하였다. 학생들은 네, 아니오, 와 같은 단순 확인 단답형 응답을 많이 사용하였으며, 언어적 상호작용 모형은 인지 기억적 사고 발문-단답형 응답-즉각 피드백 순서가 가장 많았다. 영재학급의 과학수업에서 교사들은 이유가 뭐에요? 왜 그런 거예요? 와 같은 개방적 발문의 확산적 사고 발문과 평가적 사고 발문을 사용하였고, 설명형 형태의 즉각 피드백을 주로 사용하였다. 일반학급과 비교하여 지연 피드백은 높게 나타났으나 즉각 피드백은 낮게 나타났다. 학생들은 짧은 단어나 간단한 문장 형태의 단답형으로 응답하였으며, 수업참여가 보다 적극적이었다. 언어적 상호작용 모형은 인지 기억적 사고 발문-문장 형태 단답형 응답-지연 피드백 순서가 많았다.

초등과학 영재교실에서 발견 학습 모형 수업에 효과적인 환경 조건의 탐색 (Effective Classroom Environments in Discovery Learning Classes for Gifted Science Pupils)

  • Those students with ability and interest in science should be supported to develop their potential and to reach high levels of achievement in science and technology. In order to ensure that gifted pupils are able to enhance their creativity as well as research abilities, appropriate learning programs and environments are essential. One of the various teaching and learning models for the gifted in science is the discovery learning model based on inductive science activities. There is a clear line of continuity between knowledge discovery at the forefront of research and student's learning activities. If students receive excellent training in organizing scientific concepts for themselves, they will be able to skillfully apply appropriate scientific concepts and solve problems when facing unfamiliar situations. It is very important to offer an appropriate learning environment to maximize the learning effect whilst, at the same time, understanding individual student's characteristics. In this study, the authors took great pains to research effective learning environments for gifted science students. Firstly, appropriate classroom learning environments thought by the teacher to offer the most potential were investigated. 3 different classes in which a revised teaching and learning environment was applied in sequence were examined. Inquiries were conducted into students' activities and achievement through observation, interviews, and examination of students' worksheets. A Science Education expert and 5 elementary school teachers specializing in gifted education also observed the class to examine the specific character of gifted science students. A number of suggestions in discovery learning classes for elementary students gifted in science are possible; 1) Readiness is essential in attitudes related to the inquiry. 2) The interaction between students should be developed. A permissive atmosphere is needed in small group activities. 3) Students require training in listening to others. In a whole class discussion, a permissive atmosphere needs to be restricted somewhat in order to promote full and inclusive discussion. 4) Students should have a chance to practice induction and abduction methods in solving problems.

과학영재고등학생의 과학과 영어과목에서의 학습전략 사용 및 동기의 차이와 학업수행과의 관계 (Relationships of the Self-regulated Learning Strategies used in Both Science and English Classes and Motivation to Academic Performance by Science-gifted High School Students)

  • 본 연구는 과학영재 고등학생의 과학과 영어과목에서의 자기조절학습전략 사용 및 동기에서의 차이와 학업성취와의 관계를 알아보았다. 연구대상자는 과학영재 고등학교 1학년 144명이었다. 연구결과, 과학영재는 영어과목보다 과학과목에서 자기조절학습전략에 해당하는 인지전략, 초인지 전략, 자원관리전략을 적극적으로 사용하였고 동기 또한 유의미하게 높았다. 과학영재가 사용한 자기조절학습전략은 물리학점의 개인차를 전혀 설명해주지 못하였고 동기의 변인 중 과제가치만이 물리학점 분산의 2퍼센트를 설명해 주었다. 영어과목에서는 초인지 전략이 영어학점 분산의 8퍼센트를 설명해주고 자원관리전략 중 시간 및 공부환경조절이 15퍼센트를 설명해주는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고, 동기의 변인 중 자기효능감이 영어학점 분산의 30퍼센트를 설명해 주었다. 이러한 연구결과는 동질그룹인 과학영재가 교과목에 따라 어떠한 자기조절 학습전략과 동기를 사용하는 것이 중요한지를 시사해주고 있다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 효율적인 학업수행을 위해 어떠한 점이 교수학습과정에서 도모되어야 하는지 그 시사점이 논의되었다.

역할극과 토론을 통한 모의 교토의정서 수업이 중학교 영재학급 학생들의 지구적 소양에 미치는 영향 (The effect of mock Kyoto Protocol class which uses role-playing and discussion in middle school gifted class on student's global scientific literacy)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects which applies teaching program that search solution to prevent global warming in middle school gifted class. This program of total 10 class was theoretical and experimental class and the students presented after collecting the synthetic data about climate-change and roleplayed what they debated to firm their country's opinion about Kyoto Protocol. Finally, students as policymaker made mock Kyoto Protocol by discussion. Impression papers and images about climate-changes was made by students in last class. In discussion of making up mock Kyoto Protocol, developed and developing nations had an argument about carbon dioxide emissions because of their economic benefits. In the course of allocating mutual $CO_2$ reduction, they needed yield and negotiation among nations. Although they mainly took passive position about $CO_2$ reduction, atmosphere that all the country make greater effort for the future global environment was formed. Like this, students had more concepts over climate change by making mock Kyoto Protocol. And they could equipped global scientific literacy and responsibility by participating in social decision making process of solving global environmental issues.

주제탐구형 자료가 과학고 수학영재의 문제해결 및 태도에 미치는 효과 - 확률.통계 영역을 중심으로 - (Effects of Project Based Material on Problem solving Ability and Attitude of Mathematically Gifted in Science High School - Focusing on Probability and Statistics -)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze of gifted students' improvement on mathematical attitude and problem-solving ability through project-based materials in science high school. For this study, research questions are established as follows. 1. Does the project-based materials-used instruction have a positive effect on improving problem-solving ability? 2. Does the project-based materials-used instruction have a positive effect on improving mathematical attitude? To solve these research questions, this study employed a survey and interview type investigation for gifted students' mathematical attitude and problem-solving ability. A subject of classes were randomly selected among the 11th grader in D science high school and designated one class as the experimental group and the other class as the control group. Twelve hours of the project-based materials-used instruction and the traditional textbook-oriented instruction had been carried out in each class. Findings on this study are as follows: First, the project-based material-used instruction is shown to be more effective in enhancing problem-solving ability than the traditional textbook-oriented instruction. Second, the project-based material-used instruction is shown to be more effective in improving mathematical attitude than the traditional textbook-oriented instruction.
