The purpose of this study is to evaluate the ecosystem soundness in landscape scale using landscape indices, and to extract regional information that can be used for sustainable landuse planning. About BongWha-gun, the landcover classification using Landsat TM images and patch analysis ware carried out, and some landscape indices were calculated using geographic information system(GIS) and patch analyst program. As the results of this study, Seokpo, Jaesan and Sochun got higher scores in landscape indices related to the ecosystem soundness. But, Bonghwa-eup got lowest scores in the 10 regions. When compared with normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI), this result showed consistency to some degree. Although, there needs more supplementary studies, it is anticipated that landscape scale ecosystem evaluation using landscape indices can gives us some informations related to sustainable landuse planning.

The opening status of Saemangeum sluice gate is an important factor to the coastal water qualities near Saemangeum dikes. The sluice gate opening information is important in analysing current velocity and water quality data measured at the Saemanguem observation tower as well as in determining boundary conditions of numerical simulation for coastal environment outside Saemangeum dikes. This study establishes unmanned camera monitoring system on Saemangeum observation tower using mini notebook and digital camera, and extracts information on the opening status from images automatically. Images are analysed using variance difference of images together with edge detection techniques in order to get correct information.

This paper deals with the geographical scope of the East Sea introduced by major domestic institutions. The East Sea surrounded by South Korea, North Korea, Russia, Japan has a variety of marine resources, and is the very appropriate natural laboratory to study future global changes as a miniature ocean. However, there is a continuous conflict between Korea and Japan over the name of the East Sea because of the nature of international waters. So we need the active research achievements based on the exact geographic knowledge of the East Sea to promote the legitimacy of the East Sea in the international community. Nevertheless each domestic institution has a different way to define the southern border of the East Sea so that it showed a difference about linear distance of up to about 44 km. Also, they have defined the scope of East Sea not as the entire East Sea surrounded by South Korea, North Korea, Russia and Japan but as the jurisdiction of the Republic of Korea. It caused serious confusion about accurate statistical knowledge about East Sea such as area, volume, and mean water depth. Therefore, clear social consensus about the geographical scope of the East Sea would be required, there is also the need to institutionalize a legal order to spread it.
Recently more emphasis geographical thinking is high order thinking. Improving students' geographical thinking should ensure that geographical skills are used when developing teaching-Loaming activities. Much have been written about importance of geographical thinking, but less research have been geographical skills. As such, this study is to focus on the thinking skills of National Curriculum in England and strategy of thinking through geography(TTC). TTG is the strategy with teaching thinking as a teaching style. Main concern of TTG is not with geography, it is with students' teaming and that is difference. Thus, this study provide insight into improving contents and method of teaching thinking in geography education.
As the digital retail environement becomes prevalent, consumers are given greater opportunities to make purchases across physical and digital boundaries. Prior research emphasizes that the attractiveness of the digital or online channel is relatively determined by spatial specifics of physical locations. The overall market trend combined with prior research suggests that understanding spatial specifics becomes a key to managing both offline and online sales performance together. In this study, we focus on geographic variation in sales performance through offline and online channels and aim to investigate the channel-level sales difference between central and subsidiary areas. To this end, we obtain sales data of skincare and makeup products from a leading cosmetic company. Next, we examine spatial autocorrelations in data and then employ the spatial error models to study the effects of spatial specifics. The empirical findings are as follows. First, there are significant differences in category-specific and channel-level sales between central and subsidiary areas. Second, Moran's I statistics demonstrate the spatial autocorrelations of each variable. Third, spatial error models outperform simple regression models with lower AIC values. Finally, spatial specifics play a greater role in understanding online sales in subsidiary areas whereas they exert greater influence on offline sales in central areas. We believe our study advances the related theory and knowledge of multi-channel retailing and also contributes practically to location-dependent multi-channel strategies and sales data analytics.
In the present study, muscle tissues were obtained separately from individuals from Atlantic hairtail population (AHP), Gunsan hairtail population (GHP) and Chinese hairtail population (CHP), respectively. The seven decamer primers were used to generate the shared loci, specific, unique shared loci to each population and shared loci by the three hairtail populations. Here, averagely, a decamer primer generated 64.7 amplified products per primer in the AHP population, 55.7 in GHP population and 56.4 in CHP population. The number of unique shared loci to each population and number of shared loci by the three populations generated by genetic analysis using 7 decamer primers in AHP, GHP and CHP population. 119 unique shared loci to each population, with an average of 17 per primer, were observed in the AHP population, and 28 loci, with an average of 4 per primer, were observed in the CHP population. The hierarchical dendrogram point out three main branches: cluster 1 (ATLANTIC 01 ~ ATLANTIC 07), cluster 2 (GUNSAN 08 ~ GUNSAN 14) and cluster 3 (CHINESE 15 ~ CHINESE 21). The shortest genetic distance displaying significant molecular difference was between individuals' CHINESE no. 16 and CHINESE no. 18 (0.045). In the long run, individual no. 01 of the AHP population was most distantly related to CHINESE no. 19 (genetic distance = 0.430). Consequently, PCR analysis generated on the genetic data displayed that the geographic AHP population was widely separated from CHP population, while individuals of CHP population were fairly closely related to those of GHP population.
In the beginning of $20^{th}$ century, the coal mining industry had an important role in Japan at which two-thirds of the coal product came from the Kitakyushu-Chikuho District (KCD). As a consequence of mining activities, land-use condition in this district showed notable changes. This paper presented a study of land-use changes in coal mining area by characterizing land-use pattern transition over the last 100 years. In order to carry out the rigorous analysis of land-use, a series of land-use maps over the last 100 years was developed using geographic information systems (GIS). The historic topographic map and another available old data were used to investigate the long-term changes of land-use associated with past mining within the GIS platform. The results showed that the utilization of a series of developed land-use maps successfully indicated the difference of land-use pattern in the KCD before and after the peak of mining activities. The general findings from land-use analysis described that forest and farm lands were lost and turned into abandoned sites in the last 100 years.
In a route plan, the route selection is a complicated problem to consider the spatial distribution and influence through overall related data and objective analysis on the social, economic and technical condition. The developed system in this study was compared and estimated by deciding a practical section for its validity and efficiency. Using Geographic Information System (GIS), the various information required for route selections in database was constructed, the characteristics of subject area by executing three-dimensional terrain analysis was grasped effectively, and the control point through buffering, overlay and location operation was extracted. An optimum route was selected by calculating the sum of alternatives to the sub-criteria weight, and from this result, there is a difference between real route and proposed route according to the prioritization of decision criteria based on the importance. This research could be constructed and applied geospatial information to the reasonable route plan and an optimum route selection efficiently using GIS. Therefore, the applications are presented by applying Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to the decision-making of information needed in route selection.
Physiological and morphological differences in larvae and female adults of Thecodiplosis Japonensis from Haenam, Chullanamdo, and Chunsung, Kangweondo, were studied by means of electrophoretic technique and scanning electron microscope (SEM). On zymograms of whole body, third instar larvae of T. japonensis showed geographic differences in the band patterns of esterase and MDH iszymes, but patterns and the staining density of general proteins were similar in tow populations. In female adults, the populations revealed geographic differences in general proteins and esterase isozymens. In external ultrastructures, especially in genital segments, each population had distinctive structures in the 2nd segment of ovipositor.

The importance of establishing a greenhouse gas inventory is emerging for policymaking and its implementation to cope with climate change. Thus, it is needed to establish Approach 3 level Land Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF) matrix that is spatially explicit regarding land use classifications and changes. In this study, four types of spatial information suitable for establishing the LULUCF matrix were analyzed - Cadastral Map, Land Cover Map, Forest Map, and Biotope Map. This research analyzed the classification properties of each type of spatial information and compared the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the maps in Boryeong city. Drawn from the conclusions of the quantitative comparison, the forest area showed the maximum difference of 50.42% ($303.79km^2$) in the forest map and 46.09%($276.65km^2$) in the cadastral map. The qualitative comparison drew five qualitative characteristics: data construction scope difference, data construction purpose difference, classification standard difference, and classification item difference. As a result of the study, it was evident that the biotope map was the most appropriate spatial information for the establishment of the LULUCF matrix. In addition, if the LULUCF matrix is made by integrating the biotope, the forest map, and the land cover map, the limitations of each spatial information would be improved. The accuracy of the LULUCF matrix is expected to be improved when the map of the level-3 land cover map and the biotope map of 1:5,000 covering the whole country are completed.
