  • A new approach, referred to as a successive zooming genetic algorithm (SZGA), is proposed for identifying a global solution, using continuous zooming factors for optimization problems. In order to improve the local fine-tuning of the GA, we introduced a new method whereby the search space is zoomed around the design variable with the best fitness per 100 generation, resulting in an improvement of the convergence. Furthermore, the reliability of the optimized solution is determined based on the theory of probability, and the parameter used for the successive zooming method is optimized. With parameter optimization, we can eliminate the time allocated for deciding parameters used in SZGA. To demonstrate the superiority of the proposed theory, we tested for the minimization of a multiple function, as well as simple functions. After testing, we applied the parameter optimization to a truss problem and wicket gate servomotor optimization. Then, the proposed algorithm identifies a more exact optimum value than the standard genetic algorithm.

  • Recently, the genetic algorithm has been applied to the various types of optimization problems and these attempts have very successfully. However, in most cases on these approaches, there is not given by investigator about to the theoritical analysis. The reason that the analysis of the dynamics for genetic algorithm is not clear, is the probablitic aspect of genetic algorithm. In this paper, we investigate the analysis of the internal dynamics for genetic algorithm using stochastic differential method. In addition, we provide a new genetic algorithm, based on the study of the convergence property for the genetic algorithm.

  • This paper proposes a new hybrid algorithm for auto-tuning fuzzy controllers improving the performance. The presented algorithm estimates automatically the optimal values of membership functions, fuzzy rules, and scaling factors for fuzzy controllers, using a genetic-MGM algorithm. The object of the proposed algorithm is to promote search efficiency by a genetic and modified gradient optimization techniques. The proposed genetic and MGM algorithm is based on both the standard genetic algorithm and a gradient method. If a maximum point don't be changed around an optimal value at the end of performance during given generation, the genetic-MGM algorithm searches for an optimal value using the initial value which has maximum point by converting the genetic algorithms into the MGM(Modified Gradient Method) algorithms that reduced the number of variables. Using this algorithm is not only that the computing time is faster than genetic algorithm as reducing the number of variables, but also that can overcome the disadvantage of genetic algorithms. Simulation results verify the validity of the presented method.

  • In this study, a multi-step optimization technique combined with a simple genetic algorithm is introduced in order to minimize the static compliance, the dynamic compliance, and the weight of a high speed machining center simultaneously. Dimensional thicknesses of the eight structural members on the static force loop are adopted as design variables. The first optimization step is a static design optimization, in which the static compliance and the weight are minimized under some dimensional and safety constraints. The second step is a dynamic design optimization, where the dynamic compliance and the weight are minimized under the same constraints. After optimization, the weight of the moving body only was reduced to 57.75% and the weight of the whole machining center was reduced to 46.2% of the initial design respectively. Both static and dynamic compliances of the optimum design are also in the feasible range even though they were slightly increased than before.

  • To achieve high precision cutting as well as production capability in the machine tool, it is needed to develop excellent rigidity statically, dynamically and thermally as well. In order to predict the qualitative behavior of a machine tool, simultaneous analysis of mechanics and heat transfer is required. Generally, machine tool designers have solved designing problems based on partial estimation of the specified rigidity. This study clears the inter-relationship between therm, and propose multi-phase optimization of machine tool structure using a genetic algorithm. The multi-phase solution method is consists of a series of mechanical design problem. At this first phase of static design problem, multi-objective optimization for the purpose of minimization of the total weight and static compliance minimization is solved using the Pareto Genetic Algorithm.

  • In this paper, we have suggested the method of genetic algorithm to solve the trajectory optimization. The given nonlinear method is so complex and modeling is not easy. Also, we have suggested the nonlinear programming combined with genetic algorithm. The proposed algorithm gives simple and time-reducing method in solving nonlinear dynamic systems.

  • An optimization algorithm based on Genetic Algorithm(GA) is developed for discrete optimization of reinforced concrete plane frame by constructing databases. Under multiple loading conditions, discrete optimum sets of reinforcements for both negative and positive moments in beams, their dimensions, column reinforcement, and their column dimensions are found. Construction practice is also implemented by linking columns and beams by group ‘Connectivity’between columns located in the same column line is also considered. It is shown that the developed genetic algorithm was able to reach optimum design for reinforced concrete plane frame construction practice.

  • This paper proposes a method for seeking the scheme of substation restoration by using genetic algorithm. Genetic algorithm (GA), first introduced by John Holland, is becoming an important tool in machine learning and function optimization. GA is a searching or optimization algorithm based on Darwinian biological evolution principle. As a test system, we assume a simple substation system and for the transformer fault, the result is obtained.

  • The objectives of this study are to apply univariate search and genetic algorithm to tank model, and compare the two optimization methods. Hydrologic data of Baran watershed during 1996 and 1997 were used for correction the tank model, and the data of 1999 to 2000 were used for validation. RMSE and R2 were used for the tank model's optimization. Genetic algorithm showed better result than univariate search. Genetic algorithm converges to general optima, and more population of potential solution made better result. Univariate search was easy to apply and simple but had a problem of convergence to local optima, and the problem was not solved although search the solution more minutely. Therefore, this study recommend genetic algorithm to optimize tank model rather than univariate search.

  • In recent years, the number of devices being connected to the internet has grown enormously, as has the intrusive behavior in the network. Thus, it is important for intrusion detection systems to report all intrusive behavior. Using deep learning and machine learning algorithms, intrusion detection systems are able to perform well in identifying attacks. However, the concern with these deep learning algorithms is their inability to identify a suitable network based on traffic volume, which requires manual changing of hyperparameters, which consumes a lot of time and effort. So, to address this, this paper offers a solution using the extended compact genetic algorithm for the automatic tuning of the hyperparameters. The novelty in this work comes in the form of modeling the problem of identifying attacks as a multi-objective optimization problem and the usage of linkage learning for solving the optimization problem. The solution is obtained using the feature map-based Convolutional Neural Network that gets encoded into genes, and using the extended compact genetic algorithm the model is optimized for the detection accuracy and latency. The CIC-IDS-2017 and 2018 datasets are used to verify the hypothesis, and the most recent analysis yielded a substantial F1 score of 99.23%. Response time, CPU, and memory consumption evaluations are done to demonstrate the suitability of this model in a fog environment.
