Appliciltion systems focusing class units, as component abstraction based on source code, has insufficient benefit of independency and reuse of elements. Only few effects are acquired, because it is only inclined implementation. We need design pattern to represent not only the problem abstraction but also information and relationship between system elements for generic solutions of specific domain Also, it is essential to software reverse engineering to catch the correct system through examming the cxisting system and utilizing the acquired knowledges as reusable resource. Namely, software reverse engineering for extracting the design pattern is very important because it improves the understand ability for system analysis and design through extracting the design structure of object-oriented system, and provides rich and high leIel reusabilitv through grasping the standard idioms and relationships between components. In this paper, we defined the extraction algorithm for design patterns with standardized, packaged and quantitative measlIIul thruugh applying reyerse engineering into existing ubject Olicnted system. And we designed the reengineering toul including reverse engineering for autumatic extractiun of design patterns ami reuse fur retrieval. editing and rebuilding oi design patterns. Also we applied the algorithms into Java applications.

In general, it is known a single biometric-based personal authentication has limitation to improve recognition rate due to weakness of individual recognition scheme. The recognition rate of face recognition system can be reduced by environmental factor such as illumination, while speaker verification system does not perform well with added surrounding noise. In this paper, a multi-modal biometric system composed of face and voice recognition system is proposed in order to improve the performance of the individual authentication system. The proposed empirical weight sum rule based on the reliability of the individual authentication system is applied to improve the performance of multi-modal biometrics. Since the proposed system is implemented using JAVA applet with security function, it can be utilized in the field of user authentication on the generic Web.
Implementation of DPI(Deep Packet Inspection) system on a general purpose multiprocessor platform is an attractive option from the implementation cost point of view, since it does not require high-cost customized hardware. Load balancing has been considered as a primary means to achieve high performance in multi processor systems. We claim, however, that in case of DPI system design simply balancing the load of each processor does not necessarily yield the highest system performance. Instead, we propose a method in which tasks are allocated to processors based on their functions. We implemented the proposed method in dual processor Linux system and compare its performance with the existing load balancing methods. Under the proposed method, one processor is dedicated to deal with interrupt handling and generic packet processing, while another processor is dedicated to DPI processing. According to experimental results, the proposed scheme outperforms the existing schemes by 60%, mainly because of the reduction of cache miss and spin lock occurrences.

Domain Name System(DNS), one of the most important Internet services, handles mapping from host names to Internet addresses and vice versa, and precedes many Internet applications such as Web, e-mail, file transfer, etc. In this paper, we propose a structural design of a generic name server system providing name services for a huge domain for the purpose of improving the performance as well as the reliability of the system. We demonstrate the validity of the design by implementing and running a testbed system. Our testbed employs a couple of master name sowers for distributing the service overhead over two, rather than one, servers and for achieving high availability of the system as a whole. We suggest the use of dynamic update to add and delete records from a zone for which the name server has authority. The slave name servers located remotely then get a new, updated copy of the zone via incremental zone transfers(IXFRs). The experiments with the implemented testbed show that the proposed structure would easily manage increasing demands on the server power, and be highly available in the face of transient faults of a module in the system.

Foreign object debris (FOD) is a generic term for various metals and non-metal foreign object and materials with potential hazards to aircraft operations. Since the method of manual FOD detection and collection in the aircraft moving area is very low in efficiency and economic efficiency, it is essential to develop to FOD automatic detection system suitable for domestic environment. This paper is the result of the performance comparison test results of the two systems for the combined operation of each optimal detection time and 95% accuracy above 100 m for complex operation using the fixed FOD automatic detection system and the mobile FOD system using EO/IR camera and radar at Taean Airfield Hanseo University. It is expected that FOD can be performed unattended through continuous R & D.
This study was conducted to explore the applicability and effects of Smart Support System for Creative Problem Solving(S3CPS) in engineering education. S3CPS is an online system developed to support learners' creative problem solving activities based on the CPS model proposed by Treffinger et al.(2000). In this study, it was applied in an engineering course in which students work in teams to design and produce creative robots with the purpose of verifying its effects on creative problem solving and team projects. To address the purpose, interviews and surveys were carried out to examine the effects of S3CPS. The qualitative data were analyzed through a generic coding process. Three ways to apply S3CPS in an engineering course based on team project were derived and effects of the system were also analyzed. It implies that specific design guidelines are required for the optimal use of the system for existing engineering courses.

The private sector is currently reviewing the feasibility of the project or deciding economic policies by analyzing the economic ripple effects. However, the arms acquisition project focuses on the need for the national defense weapons system by analyzing the costs and the effectiveness of the analysis and reviewing the necessity and feasibility of the project. In order to analyze the economic ripple effects, KB (the Bank of Korea) prepares and publishes an analysis table of industrial associations in a given unit. IAAR (the industrial association analysis report) is difficult to apply directly to the defense weapons system. Therefore, research on the economic ripple effects applicable to the defense arms procurement project was needed. In this study, we propose the generic methodology for estimating economical and technical ripple effects resulted in acquiring new weapon systems. Based on the analysis of inter-industrial relations, economical ripple effects are estimated with production inducing effects, value-induced effects, employment-induced effects and export-induced effects. Also, the technological ripple effects are estimated with technological intensity represented by investment cost in research and development. To show the validity of proposed methodology, a case study of acquiring new weapon systems such as GR (guided rocket), destroyer, and helicopter is accomplished. From the case study, it is concluded that these economical & technological ripple effects can be used as a reference to decision making in the course of acquiring major future defense weapons systems.
In this paper, we present a network-oriented lightweight real-time system, which is composed of an event-driven operating system called the Embedded Lightweight Operating System (ELOS) and a generic multi hop ad hoc routing protocol suite. In the ELOS, a conditional preemptive FCFS scheduling method with a guaranteed time slot is designed for efficient real-time processing. For more elaborate configurations, we reinforce fault tolerance by supplementing semi-auto configuration using wireless agent nodes. The developed hardware platform is also introduced, which is a scalable prototype constructed using off-the-shelf components. In addition, in order to evaluate the performance of the proposed system, we developed a ubiquitous network test-bed on which several experiments with respect to various environments are conducted. The results show that the ELOS is considerably favorable for tiny ubiquitous networked systems with real-time constraints.
This paper describes a method for vision-based person identification that can detect, track, and recognize person from video using multiple cues: height and dressing colors. The method does not require constrained target's pose or fully frontal face image to identify the person. First, the system, which is connected to a pan-tilt-zoom camera, detects target using motion detection and human cardboard model. The system keeps tracking the moving target while it is trying to identify whether it is a human and identify who it is among the registered persons in the database. To segment the moving target from the background scene, we employ a version of background subtraction technique and some spatial filtering. Once the target is segmented, we then align the target with the generic human cardboard model to verify whether the detected target is a human. If the target is identified as a human, the card board model is also used to segment the body parts to obtain some salient features such as head, torso, and legs. The whole body silhouette is also analyzed to obtain the target's shape information such as height and slimness. We then use these multiple cues (at present, we uses shirt color, trousers color, and body height) to recognize the target using a supervised self-organization process. We preliminary tested the system on a set of 5 subjects with multiple clothes. The recognition rate is 100% if the person is wearing the clothes that were learned before. In case a person wears new dresses the system fail to identify. This means height is not enough to classify persons. We plan to extend the work by adding more cues such as skin color, and face recognition by utilizing the zoom capability of the camera to obtain high resolution view of face; then, evaluate the system with more subjects.

Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disease which produces repeated seizures. Over 30% of epileptic patients cannot be treated with anti-epileptic drugs, and surgical resection may cause loss of brain functions. Seizure suppression by electrical stimulation is currently being investigated as a new treatment method as clinical evidence has shown that electrical stimulation to brain could suppress seizure activity. In this paper, design of a real-time closed-loop neurostimulation system for epileptic seizure suppression is presented. The system records neural signals, detects seizures and delivers electrical stimulation. The system consists of a 6-channel electrode, front-end amplifiers, a data acquisition board by National Instruments, and a neurostimulator and Generic Osorio-Frei algorithm was applied for seizure detection. The algorithm was verified through simulation using electroencephalogram data, and the operation of whole system was verified through simulation and in- vivo test.
