A Generative Research Methodology for Implementing TQM in Small and Medium-sized Manufacturing Enterprises

  • Many researchers and practitioners have acknowledged the need to investigate the relationships amongst various criteria of implementing total quality management (TQM) in small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises (SMMEs). There is a need to have practical research methodologies that take cognisance of the peculiarities of SMMEs and impact on their quality management practices in developing countries. This paper presents the theoretical foundation of a proposed Generative Research Methodology and configures the specification of a TQM implementation framework in SMMEs. The methodology combines rigorous research approaches, builds theory based on the dynamics of the environment and the firms' characteristics and incorporates various TQM criteria into the design of the framework. It synchronises inductive and deductive research methods in three phases and uses various means to acquire empirical evidence and examine the dependent and independent variables of TQM implementation. It is anticipated that the methodology could help SMMEs to develop, analyse and evaluate the framework for attaining quality performance goals.

A Novel Broadband Channel Estimation Technique Based on Dual-Module QGAN

  • In the era of 6G, the rapid increase in communication data volume poses higher demands on traditional channel estimation techniques and those based on deep learning, especially when processing large-scale data as their computational load and real-time performance often fail to meet practical requirements. To overcome this bottleneck, this paper introduces quantum computing techniques, exploring for the first time the application of Quantum Generative Adversarial Networks (QGAN) to broadband channel estimation challenges. Although generative adversarial technology has been applied to channel estimation, obtaining instantaneous channel information remains a significant challenge. To address the issue of instantaneous channel estimation, this paper proposes an innovative QGAN with a dual-module design in the generator. The adversarial loss function and the Mean Squared Error (MSE) loss function are separately applied for the parameter updates of these two modules, facilitating the learning of statistical channel information and the generation of instantaneous channel details. Experimental results demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed dual-module QGAN technique in channel estimation on the Pennylane quantum computing simulation platform. This research opens a new direction for physical layer techniques in wireless communication and offers expanded possibilities for the future development of wireless communication technologies.

비정형 건축 구현을 위한 디지털 디자인 프로세스에 관한 연구 (A Study on Digital design process of the materialization of Free form Design Architecture)

  • Starting in modern times by Le Corbusier, architectures made by concretes are still developing in these times. For several decades, the shape of box architecture has been the most familiar type of buildings. Of course "The concrete is the type of box building" isn't always right, but what we have most seen was the buildings which has been stylized and made by concretes. Through modern times to these days based on international style and functionalism, the type of box building was the most effective and good profit type of architecture which has not disregarded the capitalism. Free-form building are becoming a common place, and many of these are designed and constructed using sophisticated techniques. The main technique being used is Generative Technology of Form for free-form construction. People's interest is growing in this, and it is becoming widely used both abroad and domestically. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the use of Generative Technology of Form which is a digitally adapted design methodology in architecture. The digital design process used for contemporary buildings share many typical features that exist within a standard digital template, but also an increasing amount of mass customization that has to be produced at an additional cost. This paper will summarize these features in terms of free-form architecture, and in terms of the digital design process. In fact, 3D models have to be conceded as main design products considering features of Free Form Design Architecture. However it is practical to design twice over, because all forms of architectural drawings are 2D. From now on, design of Free Form Design Building is not to separate between design process and practical process, but to compound them as unified design system applied the process to communicate information interactively. For this, it should be required to impose unified digital design process and perform researches about effective way to apply in the field of Free-form Design Architecture.

치아 보철물 디자인을 위한 이미지 대 이미지 변환 GAN 모델 (An Image-to-Image Translation GAN Model for Dental Prothesis Design)

  • Traditionally, tooth restoration has been carried out by replicating teeth using plaster-based materials. However, recent technological advances have simplified the production process through the introduction of computer-aided design(CAD) systems. Nevertheless, dental restoration varies among individuals, and the skill level of dental technicians significantly influences the accuracy of the manufacturing process. To address this challenge, this paper proposes an approach to designing personalized tooth restorations using Generative Adversarial Network(GAN), a widely adopted technique in computer vision. The primary objective of this model is to create customized dental prosthesis for each patient by utilizing 3D data of the specific teeth to be treated and their corresponding opposite tooth. To achieve this, the 3D dental data is converted into a depth map format and used as input data for the GAN model. The proposed model leverages the network architecture of Pixel2Style2Pixel, which has demonstrated superior performance compared to existing models for image conversion and dental prosthesis generation. Furthermore, this approach holds promising potential for future advancements in dental and implant production.

이미지 생성형 AI의 창작 과정 분석을 통한 사용자 경험 연구: 사용자의 창작 주체감을 중심으로 (A Study on User Experience through Analysis of the Creative Process of Using Image Generative AI: Focusing on User Agency in Creativity)

  • 이미지 생성형 AI의 등장으로 미술, 디자인 전문가가 아니어도 텍스트 입력을 통해 완성도 높은 그림 작품을 만들 수 있게 되었다. 생성 이미지의 활용 가능성과 예술 산업에 미치는 영향력이 높아짐에 따라 사용자가 AI와 공동 창작하는 과정을 어떻게 인식하는지에 대해 연구 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 일반 사용자들을 대상으로 이미지 생성형 AI 창작에 대한 예상 과정과 체감 과정을 알아보고 어떤 과정이 사용자의 창작 주체감에 영향을 미치는지 알아보는 실험 연구를 진행하였다. 연구 결과 사용자들이 기대한 창작 과정과 체감한 창작 과정 간 격차가 있는 것으로 나타났으며 창작 주체감은 낮게 인식하는 경향을 보였다. 이에 AI가 사용자의 창작 의도를 지원하는 조력자의 역할로 작용하여 사용자가 높은 창작 주체감을 경험할 수 있도록 8가지 방법을 제언한다. 본 연구를 통해 사용자 중심적인 창작 경험을 고려하여 향후 이미지 생성형 AI의 발전에 기여할 수 있다.

  • 오랜만에 지난 작업들을 뒤돌아 볼 기회가 생겼습니다. 누구에게나 인생의 큰 흐름에 영향을 미치는 사건이 일어나기 마련인데요, 저의 경우는 지난 근 십년간 함께 해온 파라메트릭 디자인을 접하게 된 일이 그러한 사건들 중 하나였다고 생각이 됩니다. 그런 의미에서 트레이싱지 위에 로트링펜으로 선을 처음 그었던 그 강렬했던 기억 이후로 건축 설계를 해오면서 가장 기억에 남는 한 사건을 꼽으려고 한다면 단연히 Cornell 건축 대학원 재학 당시 처음 접하게 되었던 GenerativeComponents 수업을 이야기 하고 싶습니다. 연재를 시작하면서 잠시 언급한 바가 있었던 것 같은데요, 파라메트릭 디자인이라는 미지의 영역을 알게 해준 것이 바로 Bentley 사에서 만든 GenerativeComponents 라는 파라메트릭 디자인 툴 입니다. Microstation은 Autocad와 함께 건축설계 시장에서 많은 사용자층을 확보 하였던 캐드 툴 중 하나 이었으며 자체적으로 BIM 및 파라메트릭 툴을 위한 패키지가 Rhino의 Grasshopper의 출현 이전부터 존재하여 왔을 정도로 발전된 자동화 설계 플랫폼이었습니다. 현재도 특정 건축사사무소들이 Microstation을 꾸준히 사용하고 있으며 특히 Infra structure, plant나 civil engineering 등의 건축 외 설계 분야에서는 여전히 폭넓은 사용자층을 확보하고 있습니다. 하지만 건축 시장에서는 Rhino를 바탕으로 하는 플러그인 패키지 및 Autodesk의 건축설계 통합 패키지 등에 밀려서 사용자층이 얇아진 편입니다.

  • GAN (Generative Adversarial Networks) creates highly sophisticated counterfeit products by learning real images or text and inferring commonalities. Therefore, it can be useful in fields that require the creation of large-scale images or graphics. In this paper, we implement GAN-based game character creation AI that can dramatically reduce illustration design work costs by providing expansion and automation of game character image creation. This is very efficient in game development as it allows mass production of various character images at low cost.

  • 본 프로젝트는 Azure OpenAI Service (large language models and generative AI) 를 이용하여 IT 기술 및 현황을 생성형 AI (GPT-4)를 활용한 IT 카드 뉴스 서비스로서 업계 현직자들에게 정보를 제공하는 시스템을 구현하였다. IT 카드 뉴스 서비스의 부재와 뉴스 제작의 비용 및 시간 소요의 문제를 해결하기 위해 생성형 AI 시스템을 고안하였다. 해당 서비스를 통해 IT 업계에 관심이 많은 사용자에게 정리된 뉴스를 한 번에 제공하는 효과를 가져올 것으로 예상한다.

Few-Shot Content-Level Font Generation

  • Artistic font design has become an integral part of visual media. However, without prior knowledge of the font domain, it is difficult to create distinct font styles. When the number of characters is limited, this task becomes easier (e.g., only Latin characters). However, designing CJK (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) characters presents a challenge due to the large number of character sets and complexity of the glyph components in these languages. Numerous studies have been conducted on automating the font design process using generative adversarial networks (GANs). Existing methods rely heavily on reference fonts and perform font style conversions between different fonts. Additionally, rather than capturing style information for a target font via multiple style images, most methods do so via a single font image. In this paper, we propose a network architecture for generating multilingual font sets that makes use of geometric structures as content. Additionally, to acquire sufficient style information, we employ multiple style images belonging to a single font style simultaneously to extract global font style-specific information. By utilizing the geometric structural information of content and a few stylized images, our model can generate an entire font set while maintaining the style. Extensive experiments were conducted to demonstrate the proposed model's superiority over several baseline methods. Additionally, we conducted ablation studies to validate our proposed network architecture.

  • In the turn of the twentieth century, Vienna emerged as a great cultural centre that stood at the forefront of developments in music, psychology, and the natural sciences. Equally influential, and still tremendously popular today, are the designs of the Wiener $Werkst{\ddot{a}}tte$ a group that was at the heart of the city's cultural scene and whose collaborators included such luminaries as the architect Josef Hoffman and the designer Koloman Moser under the slogan of Gesamtkunstwerk. The term "Gesamtkunstwerk" was introduced in the romantic period. It describes the desire for and practice of combining various art forms into a whole, such as performances that combine text, visual arts, various design and architecture. Richard Wagner was one of the early theorists of the concept, inspiring many modernist artists. As a co-founder of the Wiener $Werkst{\ddot{a}}tte$, Josef Hoffmann had a decisive influence on modern Viennese architecture and Interior design on the basis of the concept of Gesamtkunstwerk. In this view point, this study is to analyze about the generative background and design characteristics of gesamtkunstwerk advocated Wiener $Werkst{\ddot{a}}tte$. Josef Hoffmann was by all accounts a very successful architect and Interior designer in Vienna. His influence would undoubtedly have been felt simply because of his talent and energy. His special ability to range across multiple domains, coupled with a willingness to collaborate with other artists has created a synthesis and synergy that is compelling to this day.
