  • Wireless mobile networks that exploit generalized PF scheduling can dynamically allocate network resources by using scheduling parameters. There are limitations to predict throughputs by the conventional stochastic approach in general. Moreover the limitations make it difficult to find appropriate scheduling parameters for achieving the demanded throughputs. This paper derives a prediction algorithm that predicts throughputs of the networks by using deterministic approach. A throughput adjust algorithm and a throughput switching algorithm are derived from the prediction algorithm. The performance of the throughput prediction/switching algorithms is evaluated by a simulator based on IEEE 802.16m system.

  • In this paper, we show that if R is a commutative ring with identity and (S, ${\leq}$) is a strictly totally ordered monoid, then the ring [[$R^{S,{\leq}}$]] of generalized power series is a PF-ring if and only if for any two S-indexed subsets A and B of R such that $B{\subseteq}ann_R(|A)$, there exists $c{\in}ann_R(A)$ such that $bc=b$ for all $b{\in}B$, and that for a Noetherian ring R, $[[R^{S,{\leq}}$]] is a PP ring if and only if R is a PP ring.

  • In this paper, a generalized power loss algorithm for multilevel neutral-point clamped (NPC) PWM inverters is presented, which is applicable to any level number of multilevel inverters. In the case of three-level inverters, the conduction loss depends on the MI (modulation index) and the PF (power factor), and the switching loss depends on a switching frequency, turn-on and turn-off energy. However, in the higher level of inverters than the three-level, the loss of semiconductor devices cannot be analyzed by conventional methods. The modulation depth should be considered in addition, to find the different conducting devices depending on the MI. In a case study, the power loss analysis for the three- and five-level NPC inverters has been performed with the proposed algorithm. The validity of the proposed algorithm is verified by simulation for the three-and five-level NPC inverters and experiment for three-level NPC inverter.

  • An American Cocker Spaniel (3-year-old, intact female, 6.0 kg) was referred to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University for evaluation of pustules and crusts in the periocular region, dorsal and ventral region of the trunk, and digits. Complete blood count (CBC) revealed leukocytosis with mature neutrophilia, and a serum biochemistry profile revealed hypoalbuminemia. Tape strip tests identified numerous neutrophils and acatholytic cells. Histopathology identified intraepithelial pustules with neutrophils and acantholytic keratinocytes. Definitive diagnosis of pemphigus foliaceus (PF) was made by direct immunofluorescence (DIF) test with goat anti-canine IgG antibody. The human intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) was administered at a rate of 15 ml/h over 6 hours for 4 days. After that, the dog was maintained on prednisolone (2.2 mg/kg, PO, SID) and azathioprine (2.0 m/kg, PO, SID). An infusion of IVIG (0.5 g/kg) was repeated 3 days after 4 weeks. After 10 weeks, the dog showed the remarkable regression of lesions.

  • Let X be a vector space over a field K of real or complex numbers and $k{\in}{\mathbb{N}}$. We prove the superstability of the following generalized Golab-Schinzel type equation $f(x_1+{\limits\sum_{i=2}^p}x_if(x_1)^kf(x_2)^k{\cdots}f(x_{i-1})^k)={\limits\prod_{i=1}^pf(x_i),x_1,x_2,{\cdots},x_p{\in}X$, where $f:X{\rightarrow}K$ is an unknown function which is hemicontinuous at the origin.

  • A commutative ring with unity R is called an EM-ring if for any finitely generated ideal I there exist a in R and a finitely generated ideal J with Ann(J) = 0 and I = aJ. In this article it is proved that C(X) is an EM-ring if and only if for each U ∈ Coz (X), and each g ∈ C* (U) there is V ∈ Coz (X) such that U ⊆ V, ${\bar{V}}=X$, and g is continuously extendable on V. Such a space is called an EM-space. It is shown that EM-spaces include a large class of spaces as F-spaces and cozero complemented spaces. It is proved among other results that X is an EM-space if and only if the Stone-Čech compactification of X is.

  • Purpose: This study aims to examine the effects of nursing interventions based on the Extended Theory of Planned Behavior (ETPB) regarding self-efficacy for exercise (SEE), physical activity (PA), physical function (PF), and quality of life (QOL) in patients with lung cancer who have undergone pulmonary resection. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted between July 2015 and June 2018 in two university-affiliated hospitals. The intervention included pre-operative patient education, goal setting (action and coping planning), and feedback (behavior intention and perceived behavioral control). The intervention group (IG) (n=51) received nursing interventions from the day before surgery to 12 months after lung resection, while the comparison group (CG) (n=36) received usual care. SEE, PA, PF (dyspnea, functional status, and 6-minute walking distance [6MWD]), and QOL were measured before surgery and at one, three, six, and 12 months after surgery. Data were analyzed using the χ2 test, Fisher's exact test, Mann-Whitney U test, t-test, and generalized estimation equations (GEE). Results: There were significant differences between the two groups regarding SEE (χ2=13.53, p=.009), PA (χ2=9.51, p=.049), functional status (χ2=10.55, p=.032), and 6MWD (χ2=15.62, p=.004). Although there were no time or group effects, the QOL mental component (Z=-2.78, p=.005) of the IG was higher than that of the CG one month after surgery. Interventions did not affect dyspnea or the QOL physical component. Conclusion: The intervention of this study was effective in improving SEE, PA, functional status, and 6MWD of lung cancer patients after lung resection. Further extended investigations that utilize ETPB are warranted to confirm these results.
