This paper presents a derivation of the capacitance of a shielded microstrip line using the Finite Element Method (FEM). The first approach adopts a 2-D version of Gauss's theorem and an approximation of integral to finite differencing. In this case, the choice of a contour and the size of a mesh affects the validity of the capacitance. Next, the method for deriving the capacitance by using of energy relation is shown. Finally, the simulation results are compared to those of the commercial tool (COMSOL) adopted FEM.
The kinetics of the interesterification of triolein and stearic acid catalyzed by immobilized Rhizopus delemar lipase were studied in a batch operation. In order to clarify the mechanisms of this reaction, three models are discussed under various conditions in terms of the ratio of triolein and stearic acid. The rate constants involved in the proposed model were determined by combining the numerical Gauss-elemination method, and the trial-and-error method so as to fit the calculated results with the experimental data. The accuracy of the obtained rate constants was confirmed after they were substituted for simultaneous differential equations and the equations simulated using an adaptive step-size Runge-Kutta method. Finally, the model which agrees with the calculated results and the experimental data was selected.
The spectral collocation method for a second order elliptic boundary value problem on a domain ${\Omega}$ with curved boundaries is studied using the Gordon and Hall transformation which enables us to have a transformed elliptic problem and a square domain S = [0, h] ${\times}$ [0, h], h > 0. The preconditioned system of the spectral collocation approximation based on Legendre-Gauss-Lobatto points by the matrix based on piecewise bilinear finite element discretizations is shown to have the high order accuracy of convergence and the efficiency of the finite element preconditioner.
We have carried out high precision orbit calculation, by using various numerical techniques with accuracy of higher than fourth order, in order for exact prediction on position and velocity of celestial bodies and artificial satellites. General second order ordinary differential equation has been solved numerically to test the performance for each of numerical methods. We have compared computed values with exact solution obtained by using universal variables for two body problem and discussed overall results of numerical methods used in our calculation. As a result, it is found that high order difference table method called as Gauss-Jackson method is best one with easiness and efficiency in the increase of accuracy by number of initial values.

For analyses of multi-phase flows in a water-cooled nuclear power plant, a three-dimensional SIMPLE-algorithm based hydrodynamic solver CUPID-S has been developed. As governing equations, it adopts a two-fluid three-field model for the two-phase flows. The three fields represent a continuous liquid, a dispersed droplets, and a vapour field. The governing equations are discretized by a finite volume method on an unstructured grid to handle the geometrical complexity of the nuclear reactors. The phasic momentum equations are coupled and solved with a sparse block Gauss-Seidel matrix solver to increase a numerical stability. The pressure correction equation derived by summing the phasic volume fraction equations is applied on the unstructured mesh in the context of a cell-centered co-located scheme. This paper presents the numerical method and the preliminary results of the calculations.

The purpose of this research is to study the vibration and acoustic pressure radiation from a thin isotropic flat plate stiffened by a rectangular array of beams, and excited by a time harmonic point force. These constructions on aircraft and ship structures are often subjected to fiequency dependent pressure fluctuations and forces. Forces from the these excitations induce structural vibrations in a wide range of fiequencies, which may cause such things as acoustic fatigue and internal cabin noise in the aircraft. It is thus important that the response characteristics and vibration modes of such periodic structures be horn. From this theoretical model, the sound pressure levels(SPL) in a semi-infinite fluid(water) bounded by the plate with the variation in the locations of an external time harmonic point farce on the plate can be calculated efficiently using three numerical tools such as the Gauss-jordan method the LU decomposition method md the IMSL numerical package.

This paper presents an analysis of 2-dimensional(2-D) multi-regions problem using boundary integral equation method(BIEM). When compared with finite element method(FEM), there are only a few unknown variables in BIEM because it implements numerical analysis only for the surface or boundary of a model. As a result, a lot of computational memory and time can be saved. Procedure to analyze 2-D multi-regions problem using potentials and its derivatives in a boundary as unknown variables, first, numerical analysis is performed for each of subregions. And then interface continuity condition is applied to the interface between them and Gauss Quadrature Formula are adopted to solve singular integral in a boundary in this paper.

In this paper, we proposed a new load flow analysis algorithm. In order to develop it, we converted typical power flow problem into optimal problem. This problem has the objective function that minimize the difference between calculated values and specified values of bus powers and subject to bus power equations of P and Q. Using it, we solved the divergence by singularity of Jacobian matrix, the divergence by initial value in the typical power flow study. In the study of a sample system, we verified the superiority of proposed algorithm.
The convergence rate of a numerical procedure barred on Schwarz Alternating Method (SAM) for solving elliptic boundary value problems (BVP's) depends on the selection of the interface conditions applied on the interior boundaries of the overlapping subdomains. It hee been observed that the Robin condition(mixed interface condition), controlled by a parameter, can optimize SAM's convergence rate. Since the convergence rate is very sensitive to the parameter, Tang[17] suggested another interface condition called over-determined interface condition. Based on the over-determined interface condition, we formulate the two-layer multi-parameterized SAM. For the SAM and the one-dimensional elliptic model BVP's, we determine analytically the optimal values of the parameters. For the two-dimensional elliptic BVP's , we also formulate the two-layer multi-parameterized SAM and suggest a choice of multi-parameter to produce good convergence rate .
