Design and Implementation of Engine to Control Characters By Using Machine Learning Techniques (기계학습 기법을 사용한 캐릭터 제어 엔진의 설계 및 구현)

  • This paper proposes the design and implementation of engine to control characters by using machine teaming techniques. Because the proposed engine uses the context data in the rum time as the knowledge data, there is a merit which the player can not easily recognize the behavior pattern of the intelligent character. To do this, the paper proposes to develop the module which gathers and trains the context data and the module which tests to decide the optimal context control for the given context data. The developed engine is ported to FEAR and run with Quake2 and experimented far the correctness of the development and its efficiency. The experiments show that the developed engine is operated well and efficiently within the limited time.

  • It is necessary that the developer has advanced programming skill for development of network or online game. It takes a lot of time and effort to learn the professional knowledge and program for network communication. We show the case analysis for development for network or online game by developing P2P connection module based on the Virtools engine. It should profitable to reduce the development time and cost.

  • 국내외로 수많은 게임개발자들이 이용하는 Unity 3D 엔진을 이용한 게임들을 제작 하였다. Unity 엔진이 많이 쓰이는 이유 중 하나는 복잡한 알고리즘을 코딩해야만 구현 할 수 있는 기능을 컴포넌트 형식으로 지원해줌으로써 개발을 좀 더 수월하게 진행할 수 있기 때문이다. 탈출 게임을 개발하려면 일단은 컨셉에 맞는 요소들을 만들어야 할 것이고 또한 탈출 게임의 기능들을 수행할 스크립트 구현을 하는 것 또한 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 게임 엔진 내에 있는 기능들을 이용하여 탈출 개발 과정에 대해 소개한다.

  • Recently, computer vision (CV)-based safety monitoring (i.e., object detection) system has been widely researched in the construction industry. Sufficient and high-quality data collection is required to detect objects accurately. Such data collection is significant for detecting small objects or images from different camera angles. Although several previous studies proposed novel data augmentation and synthetic data generation approaches, it is still not thoroughly addressed (i.e., limited accuracy) in the dynamic construction work environment. In this study, we proposed a game engine-driven synthetic data generation model to enhance the accuracy of the CV-based object detection model, mainly targeting small objects. In the virtual 3D environment, we generated synthetic data to complement training images by altering the virtual camera angles. The main contribution of this paper is to confirm whether synthetic data generated in the game engine can improve the accuracy of the CV-based object detection model.

  • A behavior tree is to express the behavior of artificial intelligence. The behavior tree has a characteristic that is easy to change state transitions than FSM(Finite State Machine), see the progress of the action. For these reasons, the behavior tree is widely used in more than FSM. This paper is to analyze the advantages and disadvantages on behavior trees of game engines, proposes the improved behavior tree based on analyzed them. To achieve this, in this paper, first, examines the role of node and the behavior tree structure of the unity engine, unreal engine. Second, discusses the advantages and disadvantages based on it. Third, proposes the behavior tree to improve the disadvantages of behavior tree of unity engine and unreal engine, depth of behavior tree and search time required to select the execution node. This paper can help developers using the tree to develop the game.

  • Recently, development of robot technology has been actively investigated that industrial robots are used in various other fields. However, the interface of the industrial robot is limited to the planned and manipulated path according to the target point and reaching time of the robot arm. Thus, it is not easy to create or change the various paths of the robot arm in other applications, and it is not easy to control the robot so that the robot arm passes the specific point precisely at the desired time during the course of the path. In order to overcome these limitations, this paper proposes a new-media content management platform that can manipulate 6 DOF industrial robot arm using 3D game engine. In this platform, the user can directly generate the motion of the robot arm in the UI based on the 3D game engine, and can drive the robot in real time with the generated motion. The proposed platform was verified using 3D game engine Unity3D and KUKA KR-120 robot.

  • Developing 3D games of quality is getting easier as commercial game engines have significantly evolved. It is still difficult, however, for entry-level developers to create various avatars which could affect the entire game because it requires expertise in 3D design and programming. We propose a design of an avatar assembly system based on a commercial game engine, Unity. It includes the assembly, customization, and management of avatars. It also provides an avatar update mechanism via the World Wide Web(WWW) provided by Unity's asset system so that various avatars can be supplied after the initial game distribution.

  • National agencies and corporations are making a lot of efforts to educate mechanics from high school to university and enterprise training center to train as skilled mechanic. but the theoretical training using textbooks and the training using equipment not used in the field did not provide proper maintenance training. And education using special equipment or assuming dangerous situation was very dangerous, so we were carrying out education with video or photo. In recent, there have been a number of cases in which effective training simulations have been researched and developed in order to experience situations and solve problems safely through simulation from simple maintenance to special maintenance by combining VR and AR. This paper describes the comparative study of the existing APIs such as Danuri VR, DisTi Engine and Remote AR for general purpose AR/VR contents. We also proposed a AR/VR API based on Unity 3D Engine for AR/VR maintenance contents. The API can be used for maintenance contents developers efficiently.

  • 모바일 게임 시장이 날이 갈수록 발전하고 성장하는 가운데 Unity 게임 엔진은 하나의 코드로 여러 플랫폼에서 동작하도록 하여 게임 개발이 전문가들만이 개발할 수 있는 영역이 아닌 누구나 쉽게 개발할 수 있도록 해주는 환경으로 인기를 받고 있다. 이에 따라 Unity 엔진을 이용하여 퍼즐 게임과 타워 디펜스 장르를 합친 퍼즐디펜스로 복합장르를 적용한 게임을 개발하였다.
