In order to create and utilize experiential equipment that can be effectively used in school safety education, this paper uses the Korean Safety Education Association's CPR simulator to utilize the elements of educational games: goals, rules, competition, challenge, fantasy, safety, and fun. When the content that combines game elements with general educational equipment was utilized in school education sites, significant results were obtained on the effectiveness of education with active participation of students.
Thanks to the 4th Industrial Revolution, interest in virtual reality increased and many improvements of VR devices were made. Among the VR devices, the simulator plays an important role in improving the real feeling of virtual presence. In this paper, we analyze the case of existing simulator and control method for efficient interlocking of motion simulator and VR contents, and classify motion control elements in VR contents into four types. Based on this preliminary study, this paper proposes a modular motion control method to help the contents and simulator work more effectively in the production of VR contents.

Tsunami is a frightful natural disaster that causes severe damages worldwide. To minimize the damage, South Korea has built a tsunami warning system and designated evacuation sites in the east and south coasts. However, such countermeasures have not been verified whether they are adequate to minimize casualties since tsunami rarely occurs in South Korea. Recently, due to increasing earthquakes in the west coast of Japan, the likelihood of South Korea entering the damage area of tsunami rises; thus, in this paper, we develops a simulator based on Unity game engine to simulate the evacuation from tsunami. In order to increase the fidelity of the simulation results, the simulator applies a tsunami simulation model that analyzes coastal inundation based on cellular automata. In addition, the objects included in tsunami evacuation, such as humans, are modeled as an agent model that determines the situation and acts itself, based on the discrete-event system specification (DEVS), a mathematical formalism for describing a discrete event system. The tsunami simulation model and agent models are integrated and visualized in the simulator using Unity game engine. As an example of the use of this simulator, we verify the existing tsunami evacuation site in Gwangalli Beach in Busan and suggest the optimal alternative site minimizing casualties.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Discrete Event Simulation (DES) are tools widely used in the context of the construction industry. While BIM is used to represent the physical and functional characteristics of a facility, DES models are used to represent its construction process. Integrating both is beneficial to those interested in the field of construction management since it has many potential applications. Game engines provide a human navigable 3D virtual environment in which the integrated BIM and DES models can be visualised and interacted with. This paper reports the experience obtained while developing a simulator prototype which integrates a BIM and a DES model of a single construction activity within a commercial game engine. The simulator prototype allows the user to visualise how the duration of the construction activity is affected by different input parameters interactively. It provides an environment to conduct DES studies using the user's own BIM models. This approach could increase the use of DES technologies in the context of construction management and engineering outside the research community. The presented work is the first step towards the development of a serious game for construction management education and was carried out to determine the suitable IT tools for its development.
The maps in the world of the role playing games provide not only areas for motions and actions of player characters, but also worlds of totally included monsters and NPC(Non Player Character). However, the design of maps and monsters in them could not be tested for their balances until the games had been developed quite a bit. So they need additional expense of extension period of developments. In this paper, we have designed and developed a map simulator to expect the popularities of the maps in the early stage of the game planning in order to prevent inefficient concentration of users on some maps by expecting the popularities of the maps in the early stage of game planning and by setting the parameters of monster arrangements in the map.

Various 3D contents are being developed using Unity 3D game engine. In this paper, the 3D content of horseback riding game, the first VR game in the country, is designed and developed. The existing riding simulator is investigated and compared to the VR riding game developed. We consider various games developed using Unity 3D game engine and serve previously developed tangible games. It is expected that development of VR riding games will prepare a new chapter in VR experience-type games. We propose the content development environment and scenario of VR riding game and present the main algorithms and main modules for real-time synchronization. The developed riding game contents are deployed to the riding system and are operated for commercial use in conjunction with the riding device. Through monitoring VR riding system, problems are derived and improvement measures are proposed. We offer a variety of additional development options to make the game more realistic in the future.

Genetic algorithms find the optimal solution by mimicking the evolution of natural organisms. In this study, the genetic algorithm was used to enable Pac-Man's reinforcement learning, and a simulator to observe the evolutionary process was implemented. The purpose of this paper is to reinforce the learning of the Pacman AI of the simulator, and utilize genetic algorithm and artificial neural network as the method. In particular, by building a low-power artificial neural network and applying it to a genetic algorithm, it was intended to increase the possibility of implementation in a low-power embedded system.
The Grand-Touring is a game motion simulator that simulates the race-car driving motion with three hydraulic cylinders which connect the platform and base in parallel. Its motion control system consists of the PC-based main controller and micro-controller based sub-controller. The former one process the dynamic image of race-car in response to the driver's action and computes the reference command for each cylinder and the latter one is designed for the tracking control of hydraulic cylinder and interfacing the auxiliary signals between various sensors/actuator and main controller. In this research, we developed the sub-controller that implements the required functions of Grand-Touring and prove the overall performance with experiments.
Battles between players and monsters are considered to be the core issues of RPG games, and they are something that effects the players the most when it comes to thinking whether that particular game is fun or not. Even though MMORPGs have enabled RPGs to get out of the repetitiveness into unlimited possibility of expandability and capability of modification of game plays, essential game play process remains still important - the basic battle between the player and the monsters. In this research, we made a simulator to simulate the process of the battles to estimate results of battles by pre-testing the battles with setting up the experience values of players and monsters using formulae needed for the battle systems at the beginning of game development. It can be utilized at a tester to find out a better configuration of monsters in the maps for better optimization of time and efficiency of the battles to satisfy the game planning.

This paper presents a method to implement a low-cost driving simulator for developing autonomous driving algorithms. This is implemented by using GTA V, a physical engine-based commercial game software, containing a function to emulate output and data of various sensors for autonomous driving. For this, NF of Script Hook V is incorporated to acquire GT data by accessing internal data of the software engine, and then, various sensor data for autonomous driving are generated. We present an overall function of the developed driving simulator and perform a verification of individual functions. We explain the process of acquiring GT data via direct access to the internal memory of the game engine to build up an autonomous driving algorithm development environment. And, finally, an example applicable to artificial neural network training and performance evaluation by processing the emulated sensor output is included.
