This article is a analysis & diagnosis on the shifting of regulation paradigm for arcade game in Korea. Arcade market is decreasing market size after 2006. Arcade platform is characterized by the individuality & PC-based ability. This rapidly changes of the environment are facilitating the gambling in arcade game market. For the protecting the gambling in arcade game market, regulation paradigm needs the shift. To game center & speculative behavior, from game & gambling criteria. The regulation on arcade game in China is a meaningful case, when we make the new paradigm.

This study deals with a model for platform competition in a two-sided market. We suppose there are both direct and indirect network externalities between suppliers and users of each platform. Moreover, we suppose that both users and suppliers are distributed in their relative affinity for each platform type. That is, each user [supplier] has his/her own preferential position toward each platform, and users [suppliers] are horizontally differentiated over [0, 1]. And for analytical tractability, some parameters like direct and indirect network externalities are the same across the markets. Given the parameters and the pricing profile, users and suppliers conduct subscription game, where participants select the platform that gives them the highest payoffs. This game proceeds according to a replicator dynamics of the evolutionary game, which is simplified by properly defining gains from participant's strategy in the subscription game. We find that depending on the strength of these network effects, there might either be multiple stable equilibria, at which users and suppliers distribute across both platforms, or one unstable interior equilibrium corresponding to the market tipping in favor of either platform. In both cases, we also consider the pricing power of competing platform providers under the framework of the Stackelberg game. In particular, our study examines the possible effects of the type of competition between platform providers, which may constrain the equilibrium selection in the subscription game.
Mandatory shutdown policy of the juvenile protection act was enforced in December 2011 to prevent game addiction of the youth. However, the size of game market in Korea seems to be reduced significantly after implementation of the shutdown policy. The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of current government regulations on Korean online game market. Based on empirical evidences and results from the related literature, we developed several causal loop diagrams(CLD) and system dynamics models. The CLD include sub-diagrams of innovation processes, user commitments, and operational costs. We conducted simulation analyses under various policy scenarios, adopting Normalized Unit Modelling By Elementary Relationship(NUMBER). Our results show that first, the impact of time regulation on the number of users is greater than the impact of content regulation. Second, the quality of domestic online game appears more elastic to regulations than the quality of foreign online game. The results of this study suggest that the deregulation in Korean online game market can narrow the gap in market outcomes between domestic and foreign online games. Some recommendations for future study are suggested.
Virtual Reality(VR) is one of the most remarkable technologies in the current game industry. Nevertheless, it is difficult for the game industry to actively invest in the VR technology because of the technical problems to overcome and the uncertainty about the market possibility. Therefore, this study attempts to estimate the future possibilities of the VR game market in various angles. For the purpose, we explore the domestic game market from the past to the present, and forecast the game industry ecosystem using the Scenario Network Mapping. Based on the result, we propose a short and long term future prospect and suggest the possible strategies for each stakeholder of the VR game market.
The game industry is growing most rapidly for a last 10 years. However, these days korean online game is not developed in chinese market any more quickly because there must be many significant problems. One of the most important problems can be a misunderstanding a chinese online game user. For instance, the Game community system shows an important position to choose an online game of chinese users. In this paper, We choose a three kinds of online game community systems and make a comparative analysis. We can expect a certain way through this research because we can see that most succesful online games in chinese market have a more expandable community systems. In order to make a succesful game contents in foreign country's game market, we must understand foreign gamers what they like or dislike. We think a next research will be about a specific relation between a foreign gamer and culture.

In this paper, a market share competition model for two firms with asymmetric conditions is considered with. In the model, the asymmetry between two firms is given by the difference of market shares In the existing market and the change of market share is supposed to be occurred only through pioneering a new market. Since the timing decision of market pioneering is based on the continuous time domain, a super game structure which has infinitely many numbers of subgames is employed for the modeling. In the course of equilibrium finding, we show that there exists no subgame-perfect pure strategy equilibrium In this game. So, we apply a mixed strategy concept and find a unique subgame-perfect equilibrium behavior strategy. As a result of equilibrium analysis, we know that the relative sizes of pioneering Incentives between two firms are varying with parameter conditions. However, the global speed of market pioneering is proven to be independent with the level of asymmetry between two firms.

Currently the mobile augmented reality does not require supplemental hardware, such as markers like specific images or depth cameras, in order to acquire 3D environment information. This allows for increased accessibility and usability for the general user, and also broadened scope of development. The market research enterprise Counterpoint Research predicted that the growth of the augmented reality market will reach 70 trillion Korean Won by 2021. Application developments are also progressing. Wargaming, the developer of the global game World of Tanks, has launched an application that uses AR core at the GDC 2018. Thus, we must prepare for the impending augmented reality market and acquire top class augmented reality technology using 3D environment. This paper outlines the development of a game using AR CORE SDK to acquire 3D environment and Unity 3D game engine to combine camera images and 3D graphics, which all comes together to construct a natural augmented reality.
This study analyzed changes in Korean online-game market from RPG to MOBA and FPS/TPS genre, based on Azuma Hiroki's database consumption theory. After selecting the representative game for each genre: World of Warcraft, League of Legends, and Overwatch, we analyzed the games' story, characters, progress, and simulacre produced by game users. The results of this study confirmed that changes in popular genre in the domestic online-game market proceed from consumers' verging toward database consumption. We also found that Korean game users prefer smaller stories and characters based on database, and that consumers have produced more rigorous simulacre than those in other cultural areas and re-databased it for next consumption. This study is the first to analyze changes in the domestic online-game market and adds a contribution to the literature in terms of incorporating Azuma Hiroki's consumption theory into the domestic game market.
The Indie Game market is emerging as a niche for game startups. We analyzed policy cases related to indie games in local governments, and the private sector to suggest ways to improve the Indie Game market. As a result, the problems of Indie Game-related policies resulted in lack of market research and success case analysis, lack of manpower training program, accelerator program, and public-private cooperation project. To build an Indie Game ecosystem, we proposed the necessity of establishing an effective promotion system through cooperation between the local government and the state.
Online game industry has achieved remarkable development not only in Korea, but also in the world with support from huge progress in information technology. By the way, there was calm period that top tier MMORPGs had held their ranks in oligopoly situation before Aion's appearance. At that time, NHNgames succeeded to penetrate into the market and settle down as a major player. In this context, this study will identify the factors of successful market entry strategy and draw helpful ideas by analyzing case of NHNgames which succeeded to enter the market of MMORPG through the basic strategic framework of Kalyanaram and Gurumurthy. This discussion will provide several implications for the solution of online game market penetration problem which might be never ended and for the way of industry's development.
