  • A game theoretic approach is applied for studying the energy efficient rate scheduling. The individual utility function is defined first. Then, a non cooperative rate game is modeled in which each user decides the transmission rate to maximize its own utility. The utility function considered here is the consumed energy for the individual user's data transmissions. In particular, using the fact that the utility function is convex, we prove the existence of Nash Equilibrium in the energy efficient rate scheduling problem at hand. Accordingly, a non cooperative scheduling algorithm is provided. For better energy efficiency, the sum of the individual user's utility function is optimized Finally, the convergence analysis and numerical results to show the energy efficiency of the proposed algorithms are provided.

  • This paper presents an immersive multimodal Gumdo simulation game that allows a user to experience the whole body interaction with an intelligent cyber fencer. The proposed system consists of three modules: (i) a nondistracting multimodal interface with 3D vision and speech (ii) an intelligent cyber fencer and (iii) an immersive feedback by a big screen and sound. First, the multimodal Interface with 3D vision and speech allows a user to move around and to shout without distracting the user. Second, an intelligent cyber fencer provides the user with intelligent interactions by perception and reaction modules that are created by the analysis of real Gumdo game. Finally, an immersive audio-visual feedback by a big screen and sound effects helps a user experience an immersive interaction. The proposed system thus provides the user with an immersive Gumdo experience with the whole body movement. The suggested system can be applied to various applications such as education, exercise, art performance, etc.

  • In-game cheating by the use of unauthorized software programs has always been a big problem that they can damage in First Person Shooting games, although companies operate a variety of client security solutions in order to prevent games from the cheating attempts. This paper proposes a method for detecting cheaters in FPS games by using game log analysis in a server-side. To accomplish this, we did a comparative analysis of characteristics between cheaters and general users focused on commonly loaded logs in the game. We proposed a cheating detection model by using artificial neural network algorithm. In addition, we did the performance evaluation of the proposed model by using the real dataset used in business.

  • Game Industry sustained growth for some time, but the lifespan of a game is shortening. Various efforts to improve the quality of services for the game players which play a role in extending the lifespan of games. When a game is serviced, the server of the game starts to store log informations, and the stored data became important measures to predict game user's activities. As the game's data gathers, it becomes highly useful big data. By analyzing the data of the game stored in this way, a game service issue analysis procedure is proposed to improve the quality of the game service and to proceed with a better service, and based on the analysis in this way, it was applied to the balance test process and verified through expert to the balance test process. If the log analysis process is applied through this paper, it will be a basic data that can improve the quality of game services.

  • Mobile games have become one of the most important driving forces of the game industry. We focus on the continuous intention to use Chinese mobile games from the perspective of experiential marketing and network externalities. We integrate user experience, network externalities and flow theory into expectation confirmation model and explore the influencing factors of continuous usage intention of Chinese mobile game and propose a research model. Game experience, service experience, perceived enjoyment, social interaction, challenge, perceived number of users and perceived number of peers were employed as independent variables, while flow, perceived value and satisfaction as mediating variables and continuous intention as the dependent variable. After surveying 426 samples, the model is tested with structural equation model. The results reveal that perceived enjoyment significantly positively influences perceived value, flow, satisfaction, and continuous intention. The greater the enjoyment of the game, the greater the satisfaction of the game and the greater the willingness to use it continuously. Game experience has a significant direct effect on continuous intention, which indicates that a better game experience can retain more users. Service experience and perceive number of peers positively influence satisfaction. Another finding is that social interaction and perceived number of users positively influence perceived value and flow, which indicate that social attributes are critical roles for retaining users. Game challenge also positively influences flow. The proper level of challenge is more likely to cause users to enter the state of flow. Flow indirectly influences continuous usage intention through the satisfaction of the game, which indicates that satisfaction is driven by flow experience and further retaining users. Empirical results implied that mobile game companies need to focus on improving user experience, expectation satisfaction and extending network externalities to improve the continuous intention of using mobile game.

  • Recently game addiction of young people has become a social issue. Therefore, many studies, mostly surveys, have been conducted to diagnose game addiction. In this paper, we suggest how to distinguish levels of addiction based on EEG. To this end, we first classify four groups by the degrees of addiction to internet games (High-risk group, Vigilance group, Normal group, Good-user group) using CSG (Comprehensive Scale for Assessing Game Behavior) and then measure their Event Related Potential(ERP) in the Go/NoGo Task. Specifically, we measure the signals of P300, N400 and N200 from the channels of the NoGo stimulus and Go stimulus. In addition, we extract distinct features from the discrete wavelet transform of the EEG signal and use these features to distinguish the degrees of addiction to internet games. The experiments in this study show that High-risk and Vigilance group exhibit lower Go-N200 amplitude of Fz channel than Normal and Good-user groups. In Go-P300 and NoGo-P300 of Fz channel, High-risk and Vigilance groups exhibit higher amplitude than Normal and Good-user group. In Go-N400 and NoGo-N400 of Pz channel, High-risk and Vigilance group exhibit lower amplitude than Normal and Good-user group. The test after the learning study of the extracted characteristics of each frequency band from the EEG signal showed 85% classification accuracy.

  • Humans are social existences who connect with others and live together. Communication between human has evolved into diverse formats and contents beyond time and space. Social Network Service builds social relationship based on web and its users increase rapidly in a global environment due to the user-friendly web circumstances, easy access and wide-spread supply of the smart phones. One of the aspect that is taking the center of Social Network Service is a Social Game. Social Games are based on web that has simple rules to play in fictional time and space background. This research is to analyze the relationship between social game, Social Network and user behavior through the Social Games Farm Villand Cafe World. This paper, firstly, is going to observe the characteristics of people who participate in the two social games 'Farm Ville' and 'Cafe World'. It, then, attempts to analyze individual and social human desires depicted in the games. In the social games, personal perception is revealed through an image of "possession", while one's social activity is displayed by an image of "consumption."

  • This research aimed to analyze the way of how flying movement system and background graphic in MMORPG, which provides movement system, influences on users' psychological behavior in order to enhance user's participation and the completion level of 3D game. This research also analyzed the difference between the user's response to the flying movement and other movement structure in game such as things to board, summons, portal, chase, and etc. With this comparative analysis, this study could clarify the characteristics of the user's desire to fly according to the virtual world' topography in game, the necessity of flying movement for fast movement, the dependence of user on flying system, the immersion according to behavior in process of flying, and expression level of virtual world, and etc. The survey through the case research of MMORPG Aion selected for this research showed flying movement system can have suitable quality by applying users' playing time and absorption in flight process, users' impulse following game level, and users' need to fly as a convenience of flying properly.

  • This study analyzed the causes of over-flow of adolescent games as loneliness, lack of self-control, parents-open communication, peer-emotional support and the game motivation(immerse, social relations, achievement). For analysis, the research data, 'Game User Panel Research(1 to 4 years)', was provided by Korea Creative Content Agency. As a major result, adolescence loneliness and lack of self-control directly affected game over-flow, and the game's achievement motive in their relation of influence was mediated. Over time, the structure of the relationship between the cause and the effect has shown mostly consistent results.
