This paper purpose to develop and applying an artificial emotion which gives emotional responses and actions to character as a personality and situations of a character. So we proposed an artificial emotion that receives emotional stimulus, analyzes what emotion will be generated, controls various emotions by a personality and time, and exports a current emotion. To visualize and to test an artificial emotion, We made a scrolling shooter game which has two characters who have a different personality each other. And we applied an artificial emotion to that game, modified it to be able to change status as emotions. To estimate a satisfaction of a artificial emotion for a scrolling-shooter game, we made up a question to two groups-one has people who likes a scrolling shooter game, the other has people who doesn't.

In this paper, as a design method of a game character for the player's empathy, this makes walking motion for the game character applied with 'human-emotion' factors as statistics variation of a game character in RPG genre. After this paper implements analyzed emotions of human facial expression and walking motions applied with emotion in examples of character animation theory, this paper divides walking motion applied with human-emotion factors into 8 types through relationship to statistics factors in RPG genre. And then these are applied to a knight character, which has the most similarity with human's physical feature of the game characters in RPG genre, and makes walking motion as variable statistics. As a game player controls the game character applied with 'human-emotion' factors, the effect of the player's empathy about the game character becomes higher, and the level of immersion in game play is also expected to increase.

  • The development of human-friendly game technologies understanding and responding to human emotion is a very crucial element in designing games. Out of emotion derived from games, this study attempted to define characteristics of games as a meaning representing the degree of reaching the targeted emotion. When examining most of researches regarding emotion, it has been noted that they tried to extract the most representative emotion through the systematization of emotional vocabulary and evaluate it by the association with the design elements in question. However, this definition would be beneficial only to understanding the direction of game entity and it could not express the emotion of concrete and objective players. Therefore, this study attempted to analyze the sense correlation of adjectives so as for emotional expressions to be represented accurately corresponding to players' intention, by using adjective thesaurus for the systematic understanding of such game entity.

  • Various methods for creating interesting games are used in the development process. Because the empirical part is difficult to measure and analyze, it usually only measures and analyzes the parts where data are easy to quantify. This is a clear limit to the fact that the experience of the game is important. This study proposes a system that recognizes the face of a game user and measures the emotion change from the recognized information in order to easily quantify the experience of the user who is playing the game. The system recognizes emotions and records them in real time from the face of the user who is playing the game. These recorded data include time and figures related to the progress of the game, and numerical values for emotions recognized from the face. Using the recorded data, it is possible to judge what kind of emotion the game induces to the user at a certain point in time. Numerical data on the recorded empirical part using the system of this study is expected to help develop the game according to the developer 's intention.
