A study on the GUI of load flow of power systemconsidering function of searching solutions (해 탐색기능을 고려한 전력조류의 GUI에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents improved teaching and learning GUI for easily analysis tool of load flow of power system with database function for searching solution. In this paper includes not only contingency analysis function but also searching function of conditional solution sets from database of solution for various load levels. The GUI is friendly for study for power system operation and control because picture provide a better visualizing of relationshipsbetween input parameters and effects than a tabula type result. This GUI enables topologyand the output data of load flow for line outages to be shown on same picture page. Userscan input the system data for power flow on the the picture and can easily see the theresult diagram of bus voltage, bus power, line flow. It is also observe the effects of different types of variation of tap, shunt capacitor, loads level, line outages. Proposed GUI has been studied on the Ward-Hale 6-Bus system.

  • The goal of this paper is to develop a production management system based on XML that exclusively applies to a production line of machine-parts. This paper aims to develop the related management modules and integrate them into the production management system based on XML technology. In terms of the implementation of the client/server database module, it develops the GUI application program that supports the communication between the subsystem that controls machine-parts and the server-side database. By developing the RPC emulator, the system remotely executes server module in the client GUI module. By developing the integration control module that integrates the independently executed modules, it controls the production management system that works as a single organic management system and by developing the POP system, it builds the information system of machine-parts performance records. This information system collects performance data through the serial port of the sensor attached to the machine-parts manufacturing machine, analyzes these data and display them in the GUI fashion, and immediately reflects them in production planning. And also it develops production management system based on XML by using XML technology.

Usability Evaluation of Graphic User Interfaces for a Military Computer-Based Training System

  • Objective: The present study was to improve the graphic user interface (GUI) of a military computer-based training (CBT) system in terms of usability. Background: Existing studies have focused on usability evaluation of a particular GUI type such as sequence, hierarchy, or context type; however, few research has been conducted which identifies preferred GUI features based on a comparative analysis of different GUI types. Method: A comparative evaluation was conducted by 9 CBT design experts using a 7-point scale (1: very low, 4: neutral, and 7: very high) on hierarchy and context GUI types of a military CBT system in terms of 10 usability criteria. Then, preferred features of the hierarchy and context types being accommodated, a new GUI was developed and validated by 22 CBT users. Results: While the hierarchy type was found preferred by 1.6 times in terms of controllability to the context type, the opposite was found in terms of attractiveness, simplicity, and responsiveness by 0.6, 0.8, and 0.8 times, respectively. The proposed GUI was found superior to the hierarchy and context types in terms of accessibility and informativeness by more than 1.5 times, but inferior to the hierarchy and context type in terms of simplicity by 0.6 and 0.9 times, respectively. Conclusion: The new GUI developed by accommodating the preferred features of the hierarchy and context types improves usability in terms of accessibility and informativeness except simplicity. Application: The comparative analysis of various GUIs can be applied to develop an improved GUI in a systematic manner based on preferred features of the existing GUIs.

  • In order to enhance the productivity of mobile and develop reliable software, the test of mobile application software should be required absolutely. The most important way to communicate to users has been used to GUI. But GUI test method in mobile has no the test automation system except manual test by checklist. In this paper we present a test method and tool by image flow to reduce the time required and finds out errors to GUI, by carrying out the study on automatic GUI testing tool based on image flow to GUI test of mobile application.

  • With the technology of our time growing sophisticated everyday, softwares advance rapidly in accordance. Reflecting this trend, researches on Usability of S/W GUI(Graphical User Interface) is actively taking place. However, despite the active researches on such topic, Usability study of S/W GUI for weapon system remains insufficient. For such reason, this paper intends to focus on drawing evaluation factors as well as priority of design factors for Usability of S/W GUI for weapon system. For an accurate and reliable result, Usability evaluation attributes & design factors were assessed by professionals. Moreover, by incorporating AHP(Analytical Hierarchy Process) and Matrix analysis, each evaluation attributes' level of importance and relation between design factors & usability attributes were assessed to draw final design priority. As a result, the importance of Informativity, Accessibility, and Visibility were derived as 0.127, 0.121, 0.108, and selected to be the foremost priority for evaluating. This research could be utilized as foundation for usability evaluation of S/W GUI on weapon system.

  • This paper proposes a Ubiquitous Greenhouse Management System (UGMS) based on USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) which can be real-time monitoring and controlling of greenhouse's facilities by collecting environment and soil information with environment and soil sensors, and CCTV camera. The existing systems were controlled simply by temperature. Also, it was possible to monitor only at control room in a greenhouse. For solving problems of the exiting system, our system can remotely monitor and control greenhouse by considering environment information. The detail components are as follows. The system includes the sensor manager and the CCTV manager to gather and manage greenhouse information with soil and the environment sensors, and camera. Also the system has the greenhouse database storing greenhouse information and the greenhouse server transmitting greenhouse information to the GUI and controlling greenhouse. Finally, the GUI showing greenhouse condition to users exists in our system. To verify the executability of the UGMS, after developing the greenhouse model, we confirmed that our system could monitor and control the greenhouse condition at remote GUI by applying the UGMS's components to the model.

  • In this paper, optimum design problem of R.C. continuous beam is considered and GUI system is developed for using at the practical design. Objective function lot formulation of optimum design problem is made up of the costs of concrete, reinforcing steel and formwork. Design variables are width, effective depth of the beam and steel ratio and design constraints are considered on the strength, serviceability, durability and geometrical conditions. The optimum design problem is solved by using sequential linear programming(SLP), sequential convex programming(SCP) and compared their effectiveness. Also this paper shows the application at practical design work according to the development of GUI system using visual basic.

  • Due to advances in information technology, even Engineering Simulations can now be performed in web-based JAVA through an integrated operating system called Virtual Machine and the use of byte code, which guarantees the compatibility of identical codes in every computing system and makes it suitable for web-based simulation system development. This paper introduces an implementation embodied in JAVA Applet that allows a block-diagram type GUI that runs in a web browser for use in the dynamics simulation modeling of powertrains of vehicles and multi-body systems. This system is not restrained by any of the H/W and S/W in the user's computer, so that it has the advantage of providing a GUI that allows web-based block-diagram type modeling.

  • Most Android applications are being developed by one or a few person without professional testing team. In such a poor development environment, applications may contain severe errors which may also affect the Android platform. In order to detect these errors, the behaviors of Android activities should be identified by considering user-defined lifecycle as well as the system-defined one. This paper proposes a method to generate test scenarios based on the both of user-defined and system-defined activity lifecycle of Android GUI applications. The test scenarios are generated by a state diagram extracted from the source code and are transformed into Jython scribes by using GUI layout information for automatically performing testing.

A Development of GUI Flood Forecasting System Using Artificial Neural Networks Theory (인공신경망 이론을 이용한 GUI홍수예측시스템 개발)

  • 본 연구에서는 우리나라 5대강 유역에 대한 홍수예경보시스템의 홍수추적방법으로 이용되고 있는 물리적인 모형인 저류함수법의 한계점을 극복하고, 영산강 유역의 본류를 대표하는 나주지점과 황룡강 유역을 대표하는 선암지점에 대하여 유역의 수문학적 구조를 나타내지 않는 인공신경망 이론을 이용하여 강우-유출 과정의 비선형 모형을 개발하였다. 또한, 신속한 홍수유출량 예측과 예측 결과에 따른 현장 적용이 가능하도록 CS(Client-Server) 기반에서 인공신경망에 대한 원시코드(source code)를 GUI(Graphical User Interface)화하여 홍수예측시스템(Flood Forecasting System : FFS)을 개발하였다. 본 연구결과 나주지점에서는 Model II의 ANN_NJ_9 모형이 선암지점에서는 Model III의 ANN_SA_9 모형이 강우-유출 특성을 가장 잘 반영하였다. 또한, 본 연구에서 개발한 GUI_FFS에 대하여 기 확보된 2004년도 강우 및 유출량 적용한 결과 0.98이상의 $R^2$값을 보임으로서 향후 수자원 및 하천계획 수립과 그에 따른 운영 및 관리에 효율성을 더할 수 있을 것이라 판단된다.
