  • Red tide occurred sporadically in early 90s. But It is happening extensively by global warming. So, Airline observation, Red tide buoy development, and Red tide alarm system research is progressing for monitor ring. However, study to early forecast red tide and red tide alarm system did not exist hard. This paper proposed development that design and implementation red tide database of using wireless sensor network. There are GPS, Water Temperature sensor, Oxygen sensor, and Turbidity sensor in each node. And data is stored to red tide database through Ad-hoc network. This data is integrated and analyzed. So, forecast red tide. And red tide database has red tide data that happen at past. This is utilized to comparative analysis data for red tide estimate. Main screen displays position of node and measured value in electron map. Much studies must be backed for this a study. But I think that contribute to analyze red tide data by red tide database construction.

  • The development of an unmanned vehicle basically requires the robust and reliable performance of major functions which include global localization, lane detection, obstacle avoidance, path planning, etc. The implementation of major functional subsystems are possible by integrating and fusing data acquired from various sensory systems such as GPS, vision, ultrasonic sensor, encoder, and electric compass. This paper focuses on implementing the functional subsystems, which are designed and developed by a graphical programming tool, NI LabVIEW, and also verifying the autonomous navigation and remote control of the unmanned vehicle.

  • RAIM techniques based on TLS have rarely been addressed because TLS requires a great number of computations. In this paper, the particular form of the observation matrix H, is exploited so as to develop a new TLS-based sequential algorithm to identify an errant satellite. The algorithm allows us to enjoy the advantages of TLS with less computational burden. The proposed algorithm is verified through a numerical simulation.

  • Falls are the main cause of serious injuries and accidental deaths in people over the age of 65. Due to widespread adoption of smartphones, there has been a growing interest in the use of smartphones for detecting human behavior and activities. Modern smartphones are equipped with a wide variety of sensors such as an accelerometer, a gyroscope, camera, GPS, digital compass and microphone. In this paper, we introduce a new method that determines the fall direction of human subjects by analyzing the three axis components of acceleration vector.

  • To prevent the critical situation due to the fault in the aircraft sensor system, the fault tolerant system with triple or quadruple redundancy can be made. However, if the faults are occurred in two or more than sensors simultaneously, the conventional fault detection process, such as cross-channel monitoring, may give the wrong fault alarm. For this case, we can detect the fault by estimating the state vector based on the system dynamics model, which is nonlinear for aircraft. In this paper, we propose the unscented Kalman filter to estimate the nonlinear state vector. This filter utilizes the so-called unscented transformation of sigma points featured the statistical characteristics of the random variable. For verification, we perform the simulations for F-16 aircraft with accelerometers, gyros, GPS and air data system.

  • In this paper, we describe an sound tracking mobile robot suitable for areas where GPS is not available. Sound sensors are attached to four sides of the robot in order to locate the person in a danger, and the robot is supposed to move to the yelling person. The traveling distance of the mobile robot is calculated by the encoder attached to the wheel of the mobile robot. The moving direction of the mobile robot is measured by a gyro sensor on the robot. When the person in danger pushes a button of the mobile robot, the mobile robot transmits the trajectory data to a designated server.

  • Airborne LIDAR systems have been increasingly used for various applications as an effective surveying mean that can be complementary or alternative to the traditional one based on aerial photos. A LIDAR system is a multi-sensor system consisting of GPS, INS, and a laser scanner and hence the errors associated with the LIDAR data can be significantly affected by not only the errors associated with each individual sensor but also the errors involved in combining these sensors. The analysis about these errors have been performed by some researchers but yet insufficient so that the results can be critically contributed to performing accurate calibration of LIDAR data. In this study, we thus analyze these error sources, derive their mathematical models and perform the sensitivity analysis to assess how significantly each error affects the LIDAR data. The results from this sensitivity analysis in particular can be effectively used to determine the main parameters modelling the systematic errors associated with the LIDAR data for their calibration.

  • Millions of landmines still have been buried in various countries around the world. Unfortunately, landmines make the correct detection of humanitarian organizations very difficult. For this purpose, new technologies such as improved sensors, efficient manipulators and mobile robots are needed. Our effort is to develop a small mobile robot for landmine detection. The mobile robot consists of sensor module, GPS, RF communications equipment, IR camera, motors, and controllers, etc. This paper describes the current configuration of development in landmine detecting tracked robot. Specifically we are concerned with the sensor module of the mobile robot. Our results show that graphs have measured a small metal instead of a real landmine because of the big danger of students experiments on detection with real landmines.

  • For the method of train position detection, ground-based train position estimation mainly has been applied so far. Ground-based position detection is the way to detect train current positions by installing train position equipments on railroad lines. However, the ground-based methods should install detection equipments on each section, and can only be able to detect train positions from main command center. So this method has several disadvantages such as an discontinuous position detection, an increment in cost of installation and maintenance. To make possible continuous train position detection, and to minimize amount of the cost, the vehicle-based position detection method should be chosen to determine train positions by loading position equipments on vehicles. In this paper, to realize the vehicle-based train position detection method, configuration scheme of train position detection equipment is suggested by using GPS, inertial sensor, speed sensor and its performance is verified by simulations.
