  • For a Riemannian manifold $(M^n, g)$ we consider the space $V(M^n, g)$ of all smooth functions on $M^n$ whose Hessian is proportional to the metric tensor $g$. It is well-known that if $M^n$ is a space form then $V(M^n)$ is of dimension n+2. In this paper, conversely, we prove that if $V(M^n)$ is of dimension $\ge{n+1}$, then $M^n$ is a Riemannian space form.

  • For A bounded subset G of a metric Space (X,d) and $\chi \in X$, let $f_{G}$ be the real-valued function on X defined by $f_{G}$($\chi$)=sup{$d (\chi, g)\in:G$}, and $F(G,\chi)$={$z \in X:sup_{g \in G}d(g,z)=sup_{g \in G}d(g,\chi)+d(\chi,z)$}. In this paper we discuss some properties of the map $f_G$ and of the set $ F(G, \chi)$ in convex metric spaces. A sufficient condition for an element of a convex metric space X to lie in $ F(G, \chi)$ is also given in this pope.

  • For a fixed positive integer g, we let $\mathcal{P}_g=\{Y{\in}\mathbb{R}^{(g,g)}{\mid}Y=^tY>0\}$ be the open convex cone in the Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^{g(g+1)/2}$. Then the general linear group GL(g, $\mathbb{R}$) acts naturally on $\mathcal{P}_g$ by $A{\star}Y=AY^tA(A{\in}GL(g,\mathbb{R}),\;Y{\in}\mathcal{P}_g)$. We introduce a notion of polarized real tori. We show that the open cone $\mathcal{P}_g$ parametrizes principally polarized real tori of dimension g and that the Minkowski modular space 𝔗g = $GL(g,\mathbb{Z}){\backslash}\mathcal{P}_g$ may be regarded as a moduli space of principally polarized real tori of dimension g. We also study smooth line bundles on a polarized real torus by relating them to holomorphic line bundles on its associated polarized real abelian variety.

  • In this paper, we investigate the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability for a Drygas functional equation g(u + v) + g(u - v) = 2g(u) + g(v) + g(-v) in the setting of quasi-Banach space using fixed point approach. Also, we give general results on hyperstability of a Drygas functional equation. The results obtain in this paper extend various previously known results in the setting of quasi-Banach space. Some examples are also illustrated.

  • Some properties of a path space and the fundamental group ${\sigma}(X,x_0,G)$ of a topological transformation group (X, G, ${\pi}$) are described. It is shown that ${\sigma}(X,x_0,H)$ is a normal subgroup of ${\sigma}(X,x_0,G)$ if H is a normal subgroup of G ; Let (X, G, ${\pi}$) be a transformation group with the open action property. If every identification map $p:{\Sigma}(X,x,G)\;{\longrightarrow}\;{\sigma}(X,x,G)$ is open for each $x{\in}X$, then ${\lambda}$ induces a homeomorphism between the fundamental groups ${\sigma}(X,x_0,G)$ and ${\sigma}(X,y_0,G)$ where ${\lambda}$ is a path from $x_0$ to $y_0$ in X ; The space ${\sigma}(X,x_0,G)$ is an H-space if the identification map $p:{\Sigma}(X,x_0,G)\;{\longrightarrow}\;{\sigma}(X,x_0,G)$ is open in a topological transformation group (X, G, ${\pi}$).

  • Let $M_g$ be the moduli space of isomorphism classes of genus g smooth curves. It is a quasi-projective variety of dimension 3g - 3, when $g > 2$. It is known that a complete subvariety of $M_g$ has dimension $< g-1 [D]$. In general it is not known whether this bound is rigid. For example, it is not known whether $M_4$ has a complete surface in it. But one knows that there is a complete curve through any given finite points [H]. Recently, an explicit example of a complete curve in moduli space is given in [G-H]. In [G-H] they constructed a complete curve of $M_3$ as an intersection of five hypersurfaces of the Satake compactification of $M_3$. One way to get a complete curve of $M_3$ is to find a complete one dimensional family $p : X \to B$ of plane quartics which gives a nontrivial morphism from the base space B to the moduli space $M_3$. This is because every non-hyperelliptic smooth curve of genus three can be realized as a nonsingular plane quartic and vice versa. This paper has come out from the effort to find such a complete family of plane quartics. Since nonsingular quartics form an affine space some fibers of p must be singular ones. In this paper, due to the semistable reduction theorem [M], we search singular plane quartics which can occur as singular fibers of the family above. We first list all distinct plane quartics in terms of singularities.

  • The SPICA (SPace Infrared Telescope for Cosmology & Astrophysics) project is a next-generation infrared space telescope optimized for mid- and far-infrared observation with a cryogenically cooled 3m-class telescope. It will achieve the high resolution as well as the unprecedented sensitivity from mid to far-infrared range. The FPC (Focal Plane Camera) proposed by KASI as an international collaboration is a near-infrared instrument. The FPC-S and FPC-G are responsible for the scientific observation in the near-infrared and the fine guiding, respectively. The FPC-G will significantly reduce pointing error down to below 0.075 arcsec through the observation of guiding stars in the focal plane. We analyzed the pointing requirement from the focal plane instruments as well as the error factors affecting the pointing stability. We also obtained the expected performance in operation modes. We concluded that the FPC-G can achieve the pointing stability below 0.075 arcsec which is the requirement from the focal plane instruments.

  • In the current work, we define and find the general solution of the decic functional equation g(x + 5y) - 10g(x + 4y) + 45g(x + 3y) - 120g(x + 2y) + 210g(x + y) - 252g(x) + 210g(x - y) - 120g(x - 2y) + 45g(x - 3y) - 10g(x - 4y) + g(x - 5y) = 10!g(y) where 10! = 3628800. We also investigate and establish the generalized Ulam-Hyers stability of this functional equation in Banach spaces, generalized 2-normed spaces and random normed spaces by using direct and fixed point methods.

  • Observing that a locally weakly Lindel$\"{o}$f space is a quasi-F space if and only if it has an F-base, we show that every dense weakly Lindel$\"{o}$f subspace of an almost-p-space is C-embedded, every locally weakly Lindel$\"{o}$f space with a cocompact F-base is a locally compact and quasi-F space and that if Y is a dense weakly Lindel$\"{o}$f subspace of X which has a cocompact F-base, then $\beta$Y and X are homeomorphic. We also show that for any a separating nest generated intersection ring F on a space X, there is a separating nest generated intersection ring g on $\phi_{Y}^{-1}$(X) such that QF(w(X, F)) and ($\phi_{Y}^{-1}$(X),g) are homeomorphic and $\phi_{Y}_{x}$(g$^#$)=F$^#$.
