  • We are concerned with the multiplicity of solutions of the nonlinear biharmonic equation with Dirichlet boundary condition, ${\Delta}^2u+c{\Delta}u=g(u)$, in ${\Omega}$, where $c{\in}R$ and ${\Delta}^2$ denotes the biharmonic operator. We show that there exists at least three solutions of the above problem under the suitable condition of g(u).

  • This paper is on the enhancement of our heuristics for GOSST problem that could apply to the design of communication networks offering graduated services. This problem hewn as one of NP-Hard problems finds a network topology meeting the G-Condition with minimum construction cost. In our prior research, we proposed two heuristics. We suggest methods of selecting G-Node and disconnections for Global or Local locating heuristic in this research. The ameliorated Local locating heuristic retrenches 17% more network construction cost saving ratio and the reformed Global locating heuristic does 14% more than our primitives.

  • We prove the existence of multiple solutions (${\xi},{\eta}$) for perturbations of the elliptic system with Dirichlet boundary condition $$(0.1)\;\begin{array}{lcr}A{\xi}+g_1({\xi}+ 2{\eta})=s{\phi}_1+h\;in\;{\Omega},\\A{\xi}+g_2({\xi}+ 2{\eta})=s{\phi}_1+h\;in\;{\Omega},\end{array}$$ where $lim_{u{\rightarrow}{\infty}}\frac{gj(u)}{u}={\beta}_j$, $lim_{u{\rightarrow}-{\infty}}\frac{gj(u)}{u}={\alpha}_j$ are finite and the nonlinearity $g_1+2g_2$ crosses eigenvalues of A.

  • We investigate the uniqueness and multiplicity of solutions for the nonlinear elliptic system with Dirichlet boundary condition $$\{-{\Delta}u+g_1(u,v)=f_1(x){\text{ in }}{\Omega},\\-{\Delta}v+g_2(u,v)=f_2(x){\text{ in }}{\Omega},$$ where ${\Omega}$ is a bounded set in $R^n$ with smooth boundary ${\partial}{\Omega}$. Here $g_1$, $g_2$ are nonlinear functions of u, v and $f_1$, $f_2$ are source terms.

  • The stability of penicillin G potassium injection after reconstitution was evaluated in two different diluents of sodium chloride $0.9\%$ and dextrose $5\%$ in water stored at room temperature or refrigerated condition. The concentrations of penicillin G, stored for 24 hours at room temperature or for 10 days at refrigerated condition, were determined by HPLC. Also the pHs of the reconstituted solutions were monitored. The concentrations and pHs of penicillin G potassium 500,000 U/ml injection after reconstitution gradually decreased in all conditions. Stored at room temperature after reconstitution, a new peak which suspected as degradation products of penicillin G was detected in 5 hours in sodium chloride $0.9\%$, 4 hours in dextrose $5\%$ in water. At refrigerated condition, the new peak was detected in 4 days in both sodium chloride $0.9\%$ and dextrose $5\%$ in water. The degradation products of penicillin G allergy have been thought to be one of the substances responsible for evoking allergic reactions. In conclusion, the penicillin G potassium 500,000 U/ml injection after reconstitution was stable for 4 hours in sodium chloride $0.9\%$ 3 hours in dextrose $5\%$ in water solution at room temperature. At refrigerated condition, both solutions were stable for 3 days after reconstitution.

  • Condition indices (Cl) are considered to be useful measurements of the nutritive and health status of bivalves although studies on Cl of bivalves are limited due to the lack of a standard formula for calculating Cl. This study attempts to generate Cl of the mussel, Mytilus coruscus inhabiting along the coastal area of Chuja Island in Cheju using three primary formulas. the formulas used in this study: (1) Cl-vol= [tissue dry weight (g) 1000] /shell cavity volume (ml). (2) Cl-wt= [tissue dry weight (g) 1000] / internal shell cavity capacity (g). (3) Cl-size= tissue wet weight (g)/[shell length (mm)]$\^$3/. Monthly condition indices calculated with the three formulas are compared using ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test and Pearson correlation coefficient. In Chuja Island M. coruscus collected ranged from 50 to 180 mm in shell length. Monthly ranges of Cl-values were 67.48 to 140.61 (Cl-vol), 74.67 to 118.02 (Cl-wt) and 1.4 10$\^$-5) to 1.6 10$\^$-5/ (Cl-size). Cl-vol values in August were higher than two Cl-values in the other months. Monthly Cl-vol was significantly different from Cl-wt and Cl-size. (p<0.05). The results of this study suggest that volumetric condition index (Cl-vol) used in this study is acceptable as a standard measure to evaluate conditions of M. coruscus.

  • The results of off-line and on-line diagnostic tests performed on the stator winding of an air-cooled gas turbine(G/T) generator are reported in this paper. Off-line diagnostic tests included measurements of the ac current, dissipation factor(tan${\delta}$), and partial discharge(PD). Six epoxy-mica capacitors were installed in the three phases of G/T generator for performing on-line diagnostic testing with the turbine generator analyzer(TGA). The TGA showed that the normalized quantity number(NQN) and the PD magnitude($Q_m$) were high in phase A of the stator winding. Internal discharges were generated in phases B and C, and slot discharge occurred in phase A. According to the trend analyses of the NQN and $Q_m$ values available for insulation condition assessment for G/T generator stator windings, it was concluded that phases B and C were in good condition, whereas phase A has been significantly deteriorated.

  • We investigate the existence of multiple solutions (${\xi},{\eta}$) for perturbations of the parabolic system with Dirichlet boundary condition $$(0.1)\;\begin{array}{lcr}{\xi}_t=-L{\xi}+g_1(3{\xi}+{\eta})-s{\phi}_1-h_1(x,t)\;in\;{\Omega}{\times}(0,\;2{\pi}),\\{\eta}_t=-L{\eta}+g_2(3{\xi}+{\eta})-s{\phi}_1-h_2(x,t)\;in\;{\Omega}{\times}(0,\;2{\pi}).\end{array}$$ We show the existence of multiple solutions (${\xi},{\eta}$) for perturbations of the parabolic system when the nonlinearity $g^{\prime}_1,\;g^{\prime}_2$ are bounded and $3g^{\prime}_1(-{\infty})+g^{\prime}_2(-{\infty})<{\lambda}_1,\;{\lambda}_n<3g^{\prime}_1(+{\infty})+g^{\prime}_2(+{\infty})<{\lambda}_{n+1}$.

  • F. Rhodes [2] introduced the fundamental group $\sigma(X, x_0, G)$ of a transformation group (X,G) as a generalization of the fundamental group $\pi_1(X, x_0)$ of a topological space X and showed a sufficient condition for $\sigma(X, x_0, G)$ to be isomorphic to $\pi_1(X, x_0) \times G$, that is, if (G,G) admits a family of preferred paths at e, $\sigma(X, x_0, G)$ is isomorphic to $\pi_1(X, x_0) \times G$. B.J.Jiang [1] introduced the Jiang subgroup $J(f, x_0)$ of the fundamental group of X which depends on f and showed a condition to be $J(f, x_0)$ = Z(f_\pi(\pi_1(X, x_0)), \pi_1(X, f(x_0)))$.

  • Detonation reaction in L.P.G./$O_2$ mixture gas has been investigated over the L.P.G. concentration range of 3∼45 volume%. The variation of detonation velocity with mixture ratio is very interesting as it shows and inflection point near at the stoichiometric ratio. This might be ascribed to the fact that the detonation reactions at fuel-rich condition and fuel-lean condition proceed via different mechanisms. The maximum detonation velocity of 2.65km/sec occurs not at stoichiometric ratio(${\phi}$=1) but at fuel-rich condition (${\phi}$=1.57). Assuming that a stable detonation wave must propagates with the constant velocity, The upper and lower limit of detonation were determined and found to be 40.0 and 3.40 L.P.G. volume% respectively. The shock-heating technique was also utilized for the measurement of self-ignition temperature onsetting a stable detonation wave at varous mixture ratios. The self-ignition temperature at stoichiometric ratio is $742{\pm}3{\circ}K$ and the self-ignition temperature increases as the mixture ratio deviates from the stoichiometric condition.
