Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the plan to introduce a practical skills test as part of the national examination for nursing licensure. Method: The delphi method was used. The first set of data was collected by open questionnaire from universities and hospitals nationally. The second and third were collected by structured questionnaire. Results: The biggest problem for clinical Practice in nursing education was reported as the lack of opportunities for direct nursing practice. The biggest performance problem in job duties for novice nurses was reported as the lack of integrated problem solving skills in a clinical situation. The biggest problem with the current national examination was reported as the use memorizing solutions to test questions. It was suggested that the best plan to resolve problems with the national examination would be to develop test questions representative of the clinical setting and increase personnel in clinical education. About the introduction of a practical skills test as part of the national examination, 56.9% were in agreement and 38.5% disagreed. Conclusion: The current national examination has many problems when it comes to testing clinical competency. So, a practical skills test must be deferred to a future time. There are also many difficulties in presenting a real situation, therefore further research is needed in preparation for the introduction of a practical skills test.
Problem Based Learning (PBL) is one of methods which has been developed to promote student-centered learning and to pursue self-directed learning for life-long learning. The purpose of this study is exploring the possibility of Problem Based Learning (PBL) in college Earth science course. The participants of this study were fourteen students attending an Earth science class at Sookmyung Women's University in Seoul. PBL was implemented in the form of group project with utilizing Web-based course tool. We provided questionnaires and conducted interviews to figure out students' perception about PBL. The findings were as follows: Through a given experiences, (1) students participated more actively than LBL (Lecture Based Learning), (2) more students were engaged with self-directed learning, and (3) students made higher cognitive efforts. LBL seemed to be more efficient way to acquire factual knowledge. In the meanwhile, PBL did not seem to affect the improvement of communication skills. Students could not make use of Web-based course tool effectively in communicating with other team members. In this study, we found that college student participants preferred problems related to everyday life, environmental issues and interesting but unusual incidents. On the other hand, they felt difficult in open-ended problems, especially when they were asked to provide their own evaluation. On the basis of PBL experiment in this paper, we present one method of successful implementation of PBL and suggest topics which should be studied in the future.
The widening national capital area of Korea has caused a traffic jam problem with increasing commuting hours. In addition, as the economic crisis goes on, the people moving to the outside of a city has increased. So we expect that the expansion of this metropolitan area will do grow and it will cause a more severe traffic jam in the near future. Therefore, We will study about 'Rapid Railroad Operation in Metropolitan Area' to solve this problem and improve rail's competitive power as a reasonable transportation method. The Rapid Railroad can sharply reduce commuting hours. Also, it is more eco-friendly transportation than the others. Through many cases revealed in both domestics and overseas, we will solve the problem of a traffic jam getting senous m metropolitan area. After studying successful cases of overseas, rapid railroad, such as France and Japan, we will study domestic cases of Yongsan$\sim$Dong-inchoen, Guro$\sim$Cheonan and Gaehwa$\sim$Sin-nonhyeon, and comparison will do made among these case. In conclusion, The introduction of Rapid Railroad show the effective plan for strengthen the competitiveness and solve the traffic problem.
The purpose of this study was to analyze teachers' questions in the actual general Korean classroom for academic purposes and identify types of questions. The results of the question analysis by type identified 713 teacher's questions in total: echoic questions made up 41% while epistemic questions were 19.3% and expended question turned out to make up 39.7%. 'Comprehension check questions' were 29%, which was a major part in the echoic question. 'Referential questions' were a major part in the epistemic question. Also, the research discovered that 'knowledge integration' questions held the largest majority in expended questions. Since the teacher-led lecture was often conducted in the problem-presentation stage, the percentage of Echoic question was high; and moreover, the problem-solving stage promoted to come up with more improved solutions of the problem. In the outcome and presentation stage, it was discovered that the questions aimed to check understanding of content in the subject and expand thoughts. Therefore, it is necessary to develop strategies for teacher's questions by phase and further conduct research on the interaction between learners and teacher's questions in the future.

Existing user research methods are subject to a variety of research conditions such as the amount and variety of data collected and the expertise of the facilitator of a group research session. In this study, we propose a new user research methodology using an 'Issue-Network' system, which is developed based on the theory and methods of social network analysis. The Issue-Network is designed to define problem spaces from the issues raised by users in a group research session in a form of an interactive network graph. The system helps to break out of ordinary perspectives of looking into problem spaces by enabling an alternative and more creative way to connect issues in the network. In this study, we took a case study of generating the Issue-Network on behalf of the problems raised by users in various driving-related situations. We were able to draw three navigation usage scenarios that cover relatively important problem spaces: safety and being ready for the unexpected, smart navigation and notifications, making use of the spare time. In the future, the Issue-Network system is expected to be used as a tool to identify problems and derive solutions in group research sessions involving a large number of users.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of STEAM program on students' academic achievement, creative problem-solving ability, scientific inquiry ability and scientific interests of elementary school students. For this, we developed a STEAM program to utilize animation production about 'structure and function of the our body' unit in 5th grade. The STEAM program was developed for a total of 9 sessions and was applied to the experimental group. The theoretical lesson of the 2009 revised curriculum was consisted of 11 sessions and was applied to the comparative group. The results of study showed significant differences of the students' academic achievement, creative problem-solving ability to the experimental group participating in the STEAM program and also showed significant effects in the domains of subject contents and teacher preference, which are the areas of scientific interests compared to the comparative group. This means that the STEAM program to utilize animation production about 'structure and function of the our body' developed in consideration of the characteristics of elementary students positively influenced the academic achievement, creative problem-solving ability and scientific interests of elementary school students. In the future we need to develop STEAM programs more variously that utilize animation production and that it needs to be applied to elementary schools.
The study was conducted to develop two parallel short forms for the Convergent thinking and Problem solving questionnaires which are part of H University's core competency diagnostic tools, based on Multi-Item Response Theory. Item responses of 2,580 students were analyzed using Graded Response Model(GRM) to determine item difficulty and discrimination of each item. The research results are as follows. Two parrallel short tests were developed for the Convergent thinking questionnaire consisting of 12 items which were originally 17 items. Likewise, the Problem solving questionnaire, which originally consisted of 15 questions, was divided into two parallel short forms, each consisting of 9 items. The reliability of the shortened parallel tests was confirmed through internal consistency analysis, and their similarity to the original tests was established through correlation analysis. This study contributed to quality management of competency-based education and programs at H University by developing shortened tests. Based on the results, implications were presented as well as limitations and discussions.
In this paper, we will examine the theoretical background and educational methodological basis of Novel engineering class cases published to date. For this purpose, we selected and investigated 30 Novel engineering-related academic papers and dissertations published from 2016 to 2023. As a result, the theoretical background is Seymour Papert's constructionism and Vygotsky's socio-cultural constructivism, and the educational methodological basis is creative problem-solving learning, problem-based learning, interdisciplinary convergence class, action learning, associating reading and writing education, possibility with integrated curriculum. We hope that this study will solidify the theoretical value of the Nobel Engineering convergence teaching model and serve as an alternative for teachers preparing for future education.

The present study tries to identify the characteristics of Problem Based Learning (PBL), which affects the development of middle school students' science self-efficacy. Additionally, we have tried to analyze the relationship within those characteristics to demonstrate the processes of science self-efficacy development. In line with this reasoning, we have developed a 20-module, problem-based learning science program and applied this program to 9th grade students (n=17). Two rounds of qualitative interviews have been conducted with each participant after the program, which has been analyzed with the well-documented method by Corbin and Strauss (2007). As a result, three characteristics of problem based learning have been identified to affect the development of science self-efficacy: a) authentic and ill-structured problem sets, b) small group activity, and c) result sharing. Further analysis has revealed that an authentic and ill-structured problem set as a condition precedent of self-efficacy development, while small group activity has worked as an acceleration condition. Lastly, sharing the result works as a transition condition to future interest on science-related activity or choosing science-related majors.

This study provides a heuristic algorithm to solve the locating problem of repair service centers (RSCs). To enhance the customer service level with more satisfaction and quicker responsiveness, the locating problem of RSCs has become one of the important issues in reverse supply chain management. This problem is formulated as a zero-one mixed integer programming in which an exiting distributor will be considered to be an un-capacitated repair service center for the objective of cost-minimizing. Since logistical costs are highly interrelated with the multinational location of distributors and RSCs, the fixed cost for setting a repair service center, variable cost, transportation cost, and exchange rates are considered in this study. Recognizing the selection of un-capacitated RSCs' locations is a combinatorial optimization problem and is a zero-one mixed integer programming with NP-hard complexity, we provide a heuristic algorithm named as incremental cost matrix procedure (ICMP) to simplify the solving procedure. By using the concise and structural cost matrix, ICMP can efficiently screen the potential location with cost advantage and effectively decide which distributor should be a RSC. Results obtained from the numerical experiments conducted in small scale problem have shown the fact that ICMP is an effective and efficient heuristic algorithm for solving the RSCs locating problem. In the future, using the extended ICMP to solve problems with larger industrial scale or problems with congestion effects caused by the variation of customer demand and the restriction of the RSC capacity is worth a further investigation.
