In order to obtain thinner and brighter backlight units (BLU), we simulated a new-type backlight unit. A micro-lens array sheet was formed on the upper plane of the light guide plate (LGP) comprising the backlight unit. Also, in order to match with the LGP, we simulated a functional optical sheet. The conventional BLU uses one LGP and four optical sheets, but we simulated a BLU that uses one optical sheet. Simulation results have revealed that our BLU can achieve the same luminance and 30% better view angle as compared with conventional ones.
Purpose - This study examines what are the asset market fluctuations in Europe and how each economic variable affects major variables, and explore the dynamics of housing and stock market through Greece. The variables under consideration are balance on current account (BCA), index of stock (STOCK), gross domestic product (GDP), housing price indices (HOUSING), M3, real rate of interest (IR_REAL) and household credits (LOAN). We investigate the functional and causal relationships between housing and stock market. Research design, data, and methodology - Vector error correction model (VECM) is used to figure out the dynamic relationships among variables. This study also contains the augmented Dickey-Fuller unit root, cointegration, Granger causality test, and impulse response function and variance decomposition analysis by EViews 11.0. Results - The statistical tests show that all variables under consideration have one unit root and there is a longterm equilibrium relationship among variables for Greece. GDP, IR_REAL, M3, STOCK and LOAN can be considered as causal factors to affect real estate market, while GDP, LOAN, M3, BCA and HOUSING can bring direct effects to stock market in Greece. Conclusions - It can be judged that the policy that affects the lending policy of financial institutions may be more effective than the indirect variable such as monetary interest rate.

There have been provided a surprisingly large number of summation formulae for generalized hypergeometric functions and series incorporating a variety of elementary and special functions in their various combinations. In this paper, we aim to consider certain generalized hypergeometric function 3F2 with particular arguments, through which a number of summation formulas for p+1Fp(1) are provided. We then establish a power series whose coefficients are involved in generalized hypergeometric functions with unit argument. Also, we demonstrate that the generalized hypergeometric functions with unit argument mentioned before may be expressed in terms of Bell polynomials. Further, we explore several special instances of our primary identities, among numerous others, and raise a problem that naturally emerges throughout the course of this investigation.

In this paper, we present a highly efficient simulation package which supports simulation from functional level to gate level. The package consists of a set of front-end tools, a logic simulator, named HSIM(Highly efficient logic SIMulator), and an waveform analyzer. The front-end tools include a netlist compiler, functional primitive compiler and behavioral compiler. Key feature of developed simulator is that the compiled behavioral models written in C language are directly executed in the simulation engine using incremental loader. By doing so, we achieved significant speed up as compared with the interpretive functional simulator. Experimental results show that HSIM runs about 55% faster than traditional unit-delay event-driven interpretive simulator.

Density functional theory (DFT) was used to determine the ground state geometries of indigo and new design dyes (IM-Dye-1 IM-Dye-2 and IM-Dye-3). The time dependant density functional theory (TDDFT) was used to calculate the excitation energies. All the calculations were performed in both gas and solvent phase. The LUMO energies of all the dyes were above the conduction band of $TiO_2$, while the HOMOs were below the redox couple (except IM-Dye-3). The HOMO-LUMO energy gaps of new design dyes were smaller as compared to indigo. All new design dyes were strongly red shifted as compared to indigo. The improved light harvesting efficiency (LHE) and free energy change of electron injection ${\Delta}G^{inject}$ of new designed sensitizers revealed that these materials would be excellent sensitizers. The broken coplanarity between the benzene near anchoring group having LUMO and the last benzene attached to TPA unit in all new design dyes consequently would hamper the recombination reaction. This theoretical designing will the pave way for experimentalists to synthesize the efficient sensitizers for solar cells.
The present study was carried out to characterize the functional properties of spinomesencephalic tract (SMT) neurons in the lumbar spinal cord of urethane anesthetized rats. Extracellular single unit recordings were made from neurons antidromically activated by stimulation of the midbrain area, including the deep layers of superior colliculus, periaqueductal gray and midbrain reticular formation. Recording sites were located in laminae I-VII of spinal cord segments of L2-L5. Receptive field properties and responses to calibrated mechanical stimulation were studied in 78 SMT cells. Mean conduction velocity of SMT neurons was $19.1{\pm}1.04\;m/sec$. SMT units were classified according to their response profiles into four groups: wide dynamic range (58%), deep/tap (23%), high threshold (9%) and low threshold (3%). A simple excitatory receptive field was found for most SMT neurons recorded in superficial dorsal horn (SDH). Large complex inhibitory and/or excitatory receptive fields were found for cells in lateral reticulated area which usually showed long after-discharge. Most of SMT cells received inputs from $A{\delta}$ and C afferent fiber types. These results suggest that sensory neurons in the rat SMT may have different functional roles according to their location in the spinal cord in integrating and processing sensory inputs including noxious mechanical stimuli.

This paper presents a basic ECU(Electronic Control Unit) hardware development procedure for the functional safety of in-vehicle network systems. We consider complete hardware redundancy as a safety mechanism for in-vehicle communication network under the assumption of the wired network failure such as disconnection of a CAN bus. An ESC (Electronic Stability Control) system is selected as an item and the required ASIL(Automotive Safety Integrity Level) for this item is assigned by performing the HARA(Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment). The basic hardware architecture of the ESC system is designed with a microcontroller, passive components, and communication transceivers. The required ASIL for ESC system is shown to be satisfied with the designed safety mechanism by calculation of hardware architecture metrics such as the SPFM(Single Point Fault Metric) and the LFM(Latent Fault Metric).
In this paper, we summarize the lessons learned from the applications of the software reliability engineering to a large-scale software project. The considered software is the software system of the TDX-10 ISDN switching system. The considered software consists of many components, called functional blocks. These functional blocks serve as the unit of coding and test. The software is continuing to be developed by adding new functional blocks. We are mainly concerned with the analysis of the effects of these software components to software reliability and with the analysis of the reliability evolution. We analyze the static characteristics of the software related to software reliability using failure data collected during system test. We also discussed a pattern which represents a local and global growth of the software reliability as version evolves. To find the pattern of software of the TDX-10 ISDN system, we apply the S-shaped model to a collection of failure data sets of each evolutionary version and the Goel-Okumoto (G-O) model to a grouped overall failure data set. We expect this pattern analysis will be helpful to plan and manage necessary human/resources for a new similar software project which is developed under the same developing circumstances by estimating the total software failures with respect to its size and time.
This paper presents a linear computational homogenization framework to evaluate the effective (or generalized) electromechanical coupling coefficient (EMCC) of adaptive structures with piezoelectric structural fiber (PSF) composite elements. The PSF consists of a silicon carbide (SiC) or carbon core fiber as reinforcement to a fragile piezo-ceramic shell. For the micro-scale analysis, a micromechanics model based on the variational asymptotic method for unit cell homogenization (VAMUCH) is used to evaluate the overall electromechanical properties of the PSF composites. At the macro-scale, a finite element (FE) analysis with the commercial FE code ABAQUS is performed to evaluate the effective EMCC for structures with the PSF composite patches. The EMCC is postprocessed from free-vibrations analysis under short-circuit (SC) and open-circuit (OC) electrodes of the patches. This linear two-scale computational framework may be useful for the optimal design of active structure multi-functional composites which can be used for multi-functional applications such as structural health monitoring, power harvest, vibration sensing and control, damping, and shape control through anisotropic actuation.
To recycle coal bottom ash(denoted here as CBA) generated from thermal power plants as a functional construction material, artificial soil(denoted as AS) containing CBA with dredged soil(denoted as DS) at a ratio(wt%) of 70 : 30 was manufactured by means of material engineering with sintering in a rotary kiln at $1125^{\circ}C$ using a green body formed via extrusion processing. The properties of the soil mechanics of the AS and the as-received CBA were analyzed and compared. Compaction testing results determined an optimum moisture content of the AS and CBA at 18%. During these tests, the maximum dry unit weights of the materials were similar, at 1.57 and 1.58 $t/m^3$, respectively. The compressive strength levels of the AS and CBA concrete specimens were 5.1 and 5.4 $t/m^3$, respectively, both of which increased after materials engineering processing. In a consolidation test, the compression index of the AS and CBA was found to be $0.114{\pm}0.001$ in both cases. The values were similar regardless of the materials engineering processes, but during the consolidation of AS, its coefficient was higher than that of the CBA materials.
