  • In this paper proposes a multi-carrier MFSK-DPSK/DS-CDMA combined modulation techniques in Nakagami fading environment. Also, multi-carrier DS-CDMA combined system is a promising technique for mobile communications systems, since it has a strong immunity to multipath fading and increasing bandwidth efficiency. The modulations under consideration are noncoherent M-ary frequency shift keying (MFSK)and an MFSK based joint frequency phase modulation utilizing differential phase shift keying (DPSK). With the result, performance improvement of power efficiency and bandwidth efficiency combined system in multi-carrier MFSK-DPSK/DS-CDMA are better then conventional communication system.

  • In this paper, wireless communication from a smart phone to a hearing aid using audible frequency band sound was considered. 1kHz single channel carrier frequency was applied for amplitude shift keying (ASK) binary data modulation, and the result of the transmission and reception was tested. The overall system process was precisely explained and experimentally evaluated. The result will be applied for realizing a digital hearing aid with remote control feature by a smart phone.

  • This study proposes a novel low-complexity algorithm for computing inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT)/fast Fourier transform (FFT) operations in binary phase shift keying-modulated orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication systems without requiring any twiddle factor multiplications. The peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction capacity of an efficient PAPR reduction technique, that is, H-SLM method, is evaluated using the proposed IFFT algorithm without any complex multiplications, and the impact of oversampling factor for the accurate calculation of PAPR is analyzed. The power spectral density of an OFDM signal generated using the proposed multiplierless IFFT algorithm is also examined. Moreover, the bit-error-rate performance of the H-SLM technique with the proposed IFFT/FFT algorithm is compared with the classical methods. Simulation results show that the proposed IFFT/FFT algorithm used in the H-SLM method requires no complex multiplications, thereby minimizing power consumption as well as the area of IFFT/FFT processors used in OFDM communication systems.

  • In wireless communications, chaotic communications have been a field of interest due to its low complexity in hardware implementation and low power consumption in chaotic signal generation. Among the modulation schemes using the chaotic signal, Differential Chaos Shift Keying (DCSK) is a robust non coherent technique. As in the conventional communication systems, chaos-based systems are required to provide reasonable bit error performance in the presence of a narrow-band signal coming from any other systems. The frequency band of this foreign narrow band signal may lie within the bandwidth of the chaos-based systems. This situation may occur when chaotic signal transmission is done in the presence of other conventional communication system. This paper has evaluated the performance of the non coherent differential chaos shift keying (DCSK) system under the presence of conventional non-chaotic transmit reference system. Both systems are assumed to have same data rates. The mathematical expressions for the bit error rate (BER) are derived with computer simulations to verify the analytical results.

  • In this paper, a blind symbol timing offset (STO) estimation method is proposed for offset quadrature phase-shift keying (OQPSK) modulated signals, which also works for other linearly modulated signals (LMS) such as binary-PSK, QPSK, 𝜋/4-QPSK, and minimum-shift keying. There are various methods available for blind STO estimation of LMS; however, none work in the case of OQPSK modulated signals. The popular cyclic correlation method fails to estimate STO for OQPSK signals, as the offset present between the in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) components causes the cyclic peak to disappear at the symbol rate frequency. In the proposed method, a set of close and approximate offsets is used to compensate the offset between the I and Q components of the received OQPSK signal. The STO in the time domain is represented as a phase in the cyclic frequency domain. The STO is therefore calculated by obtaining the phase of the cyclic peak at the symbol rate frequency. The method is validated through extensive theoretical study, simulation, and testbed implementation. The proposed estimation method exhibits robust performance in the presence of unknown carrier phase offset and frequency offset.

  • In this paper, to control with light dimming levels of the fluorescent lamps, we have used the power line instead of the signal line to transmit the control signals. To reduce the BER(Bit Error Rate) on the power line communication with the serious noise interferences. We have adapted the FSK(Frequency Shift Keying) modulation and demodulation technique. Since the electronic ballast produced the EMI(ElctroMagnetic Interference) noise in some frequency bands, we have reduced the EMI levels in the band below -50dB. By varying the switching frequency of the ballast for the FL032/T8 from 18kHz to 25kHz, it is possible that the dimming levels are controled with the range of 5∼100%

  • The analog front end (AFE) of a radio frequency identification transponder using the ISO 14443 type A standard with a 100% amplitude shift keying (ASK) modulation is proposed in this paper and verified by circuit simulations and measurements. This AFE circuit, using a 13.56 MHz carrier frequency, consists of a rectifier, a modulator, a demodulator, a regulator, a power on reset, and a dynamically enabled digital phase locked loop (DPLL). The DPLL, with a charge pump enable circuit, was used to recover the clock of a 100% modulated ASK signal during the pause period. A high voltage lateral double diffused metal-oxide semiconductor transistor was used to protect the rectifier and the clock recovery circuit from high voltages. The proposed AFE was fabricated using the $0.18\;{\mu}m$ standard CMOS process, with an AFE core size of $350\;{\mu}m\;{\times}\;230\;{\mu}m$. The measurement results show that the DPLL, using a demodulator output signal, generates a constant 1.695 MHz clock during the pause period of the 100% ASK signal.

  • In this paper, we propose an initial timing and frequency synchronization scheme for low probability detection (LPD) systems with cyclic code shift keying (CCSK). The performance of the LPD system with CCSK highly depend on initial timing and frequency offset. On the other hand, the operating SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) of LPD systems is usually very low. Hence, to guarantee a reliable performance of the LPD system, it is crucial to develop suitable initial synchronization algorithms. In this paper, we propose an initial timing and frequency synchronization scheme suitable for CCSK based LPD system using a repeated preamble pattern.

  • In this paper, we report phase noise effects on SER(Symbol Error Rate) of MQAM(M-ary Quadrature Amplitude Modulation), DPSK(Differential Phase Shift Keying), OFDM(Orthogonal frequency Division Multiplex)-MQAM and OFDM-DPSK. SER of each modulation method has been quantified at the various offset frequencies of the local oscillator and compared with phase noise effects with the ideal cases, which have no phase noise, through the MATLAB simulation. And the ratio of modulation bandwidths to the SERs at the various frequency offsets for the above modulation methods have been analyzed for the system requirement of minimum phase noise characteristics.

  • This paper implements RFID(radio-frequency identification)System to which the system was apply SS(Spread Spectrum) method. The system designed by using the algorithm for microprocessor with PLL of the receiver, PN spread, modulation and demodulation of the transceiver, and transistor amplifier for the output of stabilized BPSK (Binary Phase Shift Keying) signal. furthermore, it reduced the interference of the signal by designing the micro-strip narrow banded patch antenna, which is convenient for printing and producing, and decreased the volume of filter size in the system. It is also designed for the lower powered system with the possible application to UHF band of $860\sim930MHz$ for the international standard frequency band, which is the quota share of RFID distribution system.
