  • Since the digital TV signal band is very wide ($54{\sim}806MHz$), the VCO used in the frequency synthesizer must also have a wide frequency tuning range. Multiple LC VCOs have been used to cover such wide frequency band. However, the chip area increases due to the increased number of integrated inductors. A general method for achieving both reduced VCO gain(Kvco) and wide frequency band is to use the switched-capacitor bank LC VCO. In this paper, a scheme is proposed to cover the full band using only one VCO. The RF VCO block designed using a 0.18um CMOS process consists of a wideband LC VCO with reduced variation of VCO gain and frequency steps. Buffers, divide-by-2 circuits and control logics the simulation results show that the designed circuit has a phase noise at 100kHz better than -106dBc/Hz throughout the signal band and consumes $9.5{\sim}13mA$ from a 1.8V supply.

  • The channel parameters such as RMS delay spread and Doppler frequency have an effect on performance of system. This paper investigates the effect between the Inter-Code Interference (ICI) and the frequency diversity gain in the multi-rate MC-CDMA system. The multi-rate MC-CDMA system has achieved the more variable data rate than the MC-CDMA and moreover it has the better performance than the OFDMA system, because it has achieved the frquency diversity gain. However, the frequency diversity gain and ICI have a trade-off relationship by using the spreading code. Therefore, we have improved the system performance by efficient choice of system parameters. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the frequency diversify gain and the ICI effect, we perform simulations by altering the Doppler frequency and RMS delay spread.

  • This paper proposes a dolphin whistle mimicking underwater communication method using FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) and method to improve BER (Bit Error Rate) performance by using multipath gain combining. The proposed method divides whistle sound into short time intervals and transmits FSK modulated signal that ensures orthogonality of the symbol. Multipath gain can be obtained by using characteristic of mimicked signal frequency that varies with time. To demonstrate the performance of the proposed method, computer simulations and lake experiments were conducted. Computer simulation results show that an additional multipath gain is obtained by multipath. From lake experiments, when symbol length is 20 msec and modulation band is 900 Hz, the proposed FSK method with multipath combining gain obtains BER of 0.002, which is better than CSS (Chirp Spread Spectrum) with BER of 0.185. he proposed based on FSK method has higher imitation degree than the CSS method by analyzing mean cross-correlation value in the time - frequency domain of the imitated signal and actual whistle signal.

  • This paper presents two control algorithms for the frequency and amplitude of the resonator of a micro sensor. One algorithm excites the resonator at its a priori unknown resonant frequency, and the other algorithm alters the resonator dynamics to place the resonant frequency at a fixed frequency, chosen by the designer. Both algorithms maintain a specified amplitude of oscillations. The control system behavior is analyzed using an averaging method, and a quantitative criterion is provided for the selecting the control gain to achieve stability. Tracking and estimation accuracy of the natural frequency under the presence of measurement noise is also analyzed. The proposed control algorithms are applied to the MEMS dual-mass gyroscope without mechanical connecting beam between two proof-masses. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithms which guarantee the proof-masses of the gyroscope to move in opposite directions with the same resonant frequency and oscillation amplitude.

  • In this paper, we propose a STF(Space-Time-Frequency) coded OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) transmission scheme as an attractive solution for high bit rate data transmission in a multipath fading environment. The STF-OFDM transmission scheme that we propose in this paper is a simple transmission cheme for achieving frequency diversity gain with low complexity. Using preceding in frequency domain, we obtain frequency diversity gain and improve the SER performance of conventional ST-OFDM. The preceding scheme proposed in this paper is a very simple method that can be encoded and decoded with low complexity.

  • This paper analyzes the accuracy of free space path loss and matched filter gain approximated by using a passband rectangular pulse for ultra wideband (UWB) radio systems. The example causal signal, a modulated Gaussian pulse with the same center frequency and frequency bandwidth of the passband rectangular pulse, is used to consider the accuracy. The path loss and matched filter gain of the modulated Gaussian pulse are simulated for the reference results. The UWB free space path loss is shown and is compared with that obtained from simulation and Friis' transmission formula. The UWB matched filter gain is shown and compared with simulation results. From the results, we can see that the UWB path loss formula is more accurate than the Friis' transmission formula. The results from the UWB free space path loss and matched filter gain formulas agree with the simulation. Then, these free space path loss and matched filter gain formulas approximated by using a passband rectangular pulse are appropriate for UWB system.

  • Recent years have witnessed a growing demand for a wide variety of high-performance industrial robots. In this paper, for accurate gain tuning of a 6-axis articulated industrial robot with reduced noise, a program routine for a dynamic signal analyzer (DSA) using the frequency response method will be programmed using $LabVIEW^{(R)}$. Then, robot transfer functions can be obtained experimentally using the frequency response method with the DSA program. Data from the robot transfer functions are transformed into Bode plots, based on which an optimal gain tuning will be executed. Gain tuning can enhance the response quality of the output signal for a given input signal during real-time control of the robot. The effectiveness of our proposed technique will be verified by implementation with a (lab-manufactured) 6-axis articulated industrial robot (hereinafter called "RS2") and comparison with the zero position gain tuning, as well as other positions.

  • A 1.5V 70㏈ 100MHz CMOS class-AB complementary operational amplifier is presented. For obtaining the high gain and the high unity gain frequency, the input stage of the amplifier is designed with rail-to-rail complementary differential pairs which are symmetrically parallel-connected with the NMOS and the PMOS differential input pairs, and the output stage is designed to the rail-to-rail class-AB output stage including the elementary shunt stage technique. With this design technique for output stage, the load dependence of the overall open loop gain is improved and the push-pull class-AB current control can be implemented in a simple way. The designed operational amplifier operates perfectly on the complementary mode with 180$^{\circ}$ phase conversion for 1.5V supply voltage, and shows the push-pull class-AB operation. In addition, the amplifier shows the DC open loop gain of 70.4 ㏈ and the unity gain frequency of 102 MHz for $C_{L=10㎊∥}$ $R_{L=1㏁}$ Parallel loads. When the resistive load $R_{L}$ is varied from 1 ㏁ to 1 ㏀, the DC open loop gain of the amplifier decreases by only 2.2 ㏈.a$, the DC open loop gain of the amplifier decreases by only 2.2 dB.

  • The alternated forward multi resonant converter (AT forward MRC) is studied on the transient response and the measured loop gain for stability. The compensator is composed of the error amplifier with 3 poles and 2 zeros. This is optimized through the experiment with HP4194A network analyzer. We are initiated by the thinking of how to make the stabilization from the experimental results of loop gain curves. The loop gain, low frequency gain and gain margin are more improved through the experimental considerations. Also, the transient response is more enhanced effectively.

  • To design of Ultra-wideband amplifier, we analyzed the inductor peaking to reduce the capacitance effect of GaAs MESFET in upper frequency edge. And we deduced an optimun inductor peaking element from transfer function of GaAs MESFET small-signal equivalent circut and realized the Feedback Amplifier Module (FAM) having flat gain. We design the imput and output impe dance matching networks by Real-Frequency Method. It show that the gain of designed amplifier has a 6.38dB with gain variation 0.56 at 0.1~12 GHz frequency gand by computer simu-lation.
