  • Statement of problem. Initial stability of implant is an important factor for predicting osseointegration. It requires a rapid, non-invasive, user-friendly technique to frequently assess the implant stability and the degree of osseointegration. Purpose. The aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between the resonance frequency analysis (RFA) and the radiographic method for peri-implant bone change under in vitro conditions. Material and Method. Twenty implants of 3.75 mm in diameter(Neoplant, Neobiotech, Korea) were used. To simulate peri-implant bone change, 2 mm-deep $45^{\circ}$ range horizontal defect and 2 mm-deep $90^{\circ}$ range horizontal defect area were serially prepared perpendicular to the X-ray beam after conventional implant insertion. Customized film holding device was fabricated to standardize the projection geometry for serial radiographs of implants and direct digital image was obtained. ISQ values and gray values inside threads were measured before and after peri-implant bone defect preparation. Results. Within a limitation of this study, ISQ value of resonance frequency analysis was changed according to peri-implant bone change (p<0.05) and gray value of radiographic method was changed according to peri-implant bone change (p<0.05). There was no correlation between the ISQ value and the gray value for peri-implant bone change (p>0.05). But, in horizontal defect condition, relatively positive correlation were between ISQ and gray values(r=0.663). Conclusion. This results provided a possibility that peri-implant bone change may be evaluated by both RFA and radiographic method.

  • Gradually or radically change how the characteristics of the climate characteristic using change point analysis for the precipitation indicators were investigated. Significantly the amount, extreme and frequency were separated by precipitation indicators, each indicator RIA(Rainfall Index for Amount), RIE(Rainfall Index for Extremes) and RIF(Rainfall Index for Frequency) was defined. Bayesian Change Point was applied to investigate changing over time of precipitation indicators calculated. As the result of analysis, precipitation indicators in South Korea was found to recently increase all indicators except for the annual precipitation days and 200-yr precipitation. RIA revealed that there was a very clear point of significance for the change in Ulleungdo, Relatively significant results for RIE were identified in Gumi, Jecheon and Seogwipo. Also, since the 1990s, an increase in the number of variation points, and the horizontal width of the fluctuation point was being relatively wider. Based on these results, rethink the precipitation on the assumption of stationarity was judged necessary.

  • This paper sought to investigate pupil size variability, pupil size parameters in terms of time domain and frequency domain, the autonomic activity change induced by posture change, degree of sleepiness and cognitive task (math task). With a specially designed pupil image acquisition system in the dark room, these three kinds of experiments were performed to induce a dominant state of sympathetic or parasympathetic activation. Electrocardiogram and pupil size were measured in all the experiments. Based on three experiments, we calculated heart rate variability. In the pupil size analysis, we calculated the mean and standard deviation of pupil size (in time domain), and proposed several frequency bands that exhibit different autonomic activation between different sessions. The results indicate that in terms of heart rate variability, posture change exhibited significant differences but not between sleepiness level, or between cognitive task. Pupil sizes differed only during the postures. And we found some frequency bands that correlated with autonomic activation in each experiment. While heart rate variability reflects posture change that need cardiac control, pupil size variability reflects not only posture induced autonomic activation but sleepiness and cognitive load, which is processed in the brain, in time and frequency domain parameter.

  • Electrical current is usually used to change the damping force of Magnetorheological Dampers (MRDs). However, changing the electrical current could shift the stiffness of the system, the phenomenon that was not considered carefully. This study aims to evaluate this shift. A typical MRD was designed, optimized, and fabricated to do some accurate and detailed experimental tests to examine the stiffness variation. The damper is equipped with a circulating system to prevent the deposition of particles when it is at rest. Besides that, a vibration setup was developed for the experimental study. It is capable of generating vibration with either constant frequency or frequency sweep and measure the amplitude of vibration. The damper was tested by the vibrating setup, and it was concluded that with a change in electrical current from 0 to 1.4 A, resonant frequency would change from 13.8 Hz to 16 Hz. Considering the unchanging mass of 85.1 kg, the change in resonant frequency translates as a shift in stiffness, which changes from 640 kN/m to 860 kN/m.

  • Frequency is an important operating parameter of a power system. Due to the sudden change in generation and loads or faults in power system, the frequency is supposed to deviate from its nominal value. It is essential that the frequency of a power system be maintained very close to its nominal frequency. And monitoring and an accurate estimation of the power frequency by timing synchronized signal provided by FDR is essential to optimum operation and prevention for wide area blackout. As most conventional frequency estimation schemes are based on DFT filter, it has been pointed out that the gain error by change in magnitude could cause the defects when the power frequency is deviated from nominal value. In this paper, an advanced frequency estimation scheme using gain compensation for fault disturbance recorders (FDR) is presented. The proposed scheme can reduce the gain error caused when the power frequency is deviated from nominal value. Various simulation using both the data from EMTP package and user's defined arbitrary signals are performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme can provide better accuracy and higher robustness to harmonics and noise under both steady state tests and dynamic conditions.

  • In the present study, the dynamic deformation characteristics of clay, including the effect of loading rate in large strain ranges, were examined by performing undrained cyclic triaxial test. The test results showed that the loading rate to failure decreased with increasing loading amplitude and decreasing loading frequency. While the stress-strain relationships was not affected by loading frequency, excess pore pressure was affected significantly with the change in loading frequency. The change for 0.1 Hz was larger for than that of 0.01 Hz, resulting in inclined effective stress paths. Furthermore, the lower the frequency was, the higher the excess pore pressure was in the first loading.

  • There are several methods of speed control in induction motors. One of which is to change the frequency of source but was not used frequently because of the difficulty of frequency-change. Then, the development of frequency changer using semiconductor enables the method useful. In this paper the speed characteristics of mechanical output, secondary input torque and secondary power factor are described when the frequency of source and voltage which is proportional to the frequency of source in order to make the flux in the air gap in constant, are changed. The above characteristics are searched on the basis of the rated characteristics of the motor. Because the ratio of these is proportional to that of the secondary current or the square value of it. To get the ratio of the secondary current, a current circle diagram is introduced, and the magnitude of the ratio from this diagram is accurate and simple. Experimental results are in good agreement with theoretical predictions.

  • Variability of precipitation pattern and intensity are increasing due to the urbanization and industrialization which induce increasing impervious area and the climate change. Therefore, more severe urban inundation and flood damage will be occurred by localized heavy precipitation event in the future. In this study, we analyze the future frequency based precipitation under climate change based on the regional frequency analysis. The observed precipitation data from 58 stations provided by Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) are collected and the data period is more than 30 years. Then the frequency based precipitation for the observed data by regional frequency analysis are estimated. In order to remove the bias from the simulated precipitation by RCP scenarios, the quantile mapping method and outlier test are used. The regional frequency analysis using L-moment method(Hosking and Wallis, 1997) is performed and the future frequency based precipitation for 80, 100, and 200 years of return period are estimated. As a result, future frequency based precipitation in South Korea will be increased by 25 to 27 percent. Especially the result for Jeju Island shows that the increasing rate will be higher than other areas. Severe heavy precipitation could be more and more frequently occurred in the future due to the climate change and the runoff characteristics will be also changed by urbanization, industrialization, and climate change. Therefore, we need prepare flood prevention measures for our flood safety in the future.

  • Where there are all the flowers, the songs of all kinds of insects and birds are put in, the sunshine and shadows flicker The forest through which the water sound flows is an optimum resting space. All living creatures in these spaces will awaken the five senses of humans and perhaps turn the sensibility index (EQ). The forest meditation in the forest, which can be an optimal shelter for the people who need it, needs to feel the reverence of nature, to refine emotions, to be a self-reflection, to have a mind to respect, Have an important meaning. In this paper, we tried to consider the cause of the influence of forest sounds on human hearing from the acoustical aspect. The type of sound source of forest was divided into four seasons of spring, summer, autumn, winter. And the change in the duration of the sound during the four seasons, so that the general characteristics of the sounds of the four seasons are as follows: It can be seen that the change in the ratio of sub-band energy is almost equal to the change in dB in frequency of the equal-light curve. To compare this phenomenon, the criterion for changing the sound duration of each forest is natural The main forms of the luminance curve, such as the change in the duration of the white signal in the sound, are determined by the minimum, maximum audible frequency and the most sensitive frequency band, and the auditory characteristics of the other three inflection points Determines the overall shape of the equal-light curve.
