500 Hz 이상 고주파수 영역에서 배기소음 저감을 위한 소음기 구조 (Silencer structure for exhaust noise attenuation performance in the high frequency range)

  • High power trends in the diesel engines due to engine downsizing do not provide noise attenuation that can be satisfied with the performance of the existing silencer on account of high frequency increases in the exhaust noise. This study improves the attenuation performance of the exhaust silencer of the diesel engine and suggests silencer structure that performs best attenuation performance, especially at the high frequency range in the exhaust noise. It proposes dual silencer structure with an average attenuation performance of 6.4 dB and a maximum of 10.7 dB in the high frequency range (over 500 Hz), and analyzes its characteristics compared with the existing silencer. The performance analysis is performed according to 'Measurements on silencers in situation-ISO 11820:1996 Acoustics' and describes the results of comparative analysis with the existing silencer.

메탄 하이드레이트 부존 퇴적층으로부터 획득한 수직탄성파 (VSP) 자료에서의 탄성파 진폭 감쇠 (Seismic attenuation from VSP data in methane hydrate-bearing sediments)

  • 최근의 탄성파 탐사들은 퇴적층에 메탄 하이드레이트가 존재할 경우 탄성파 진폭 감쇠에 큰 영향을 미치는 것을 보여주고 있다. 이 논문에서는 일본 중부 토카이(Tokai) 해역의 난카이 트러프 (Nankai Trough) 탐사정에서 얻은 수직탄성파자료를 이용하여 30$\sim$110 Hz 주파수 대역에서 메탄 하이드레이트 부존층에서의 P 파 감쇠를 측정하였다. 두 개의 다른 측정방법들 (스펙트럼비 (spectral ratio) 방법과 중심 주파수 이동방법 (centroid frequency shift method))을 이용하여 감쇠 측정의 유효성을 조사하였다. 또한 감쇠 측정의 안정성을 증명하기 위해 측정 심도구간, 시추공의 불규칙 변화, 주파수 구간에 따른 감쇠 분석의 민감도를 조사하였다. 탄성파 주파수 대역에서는 메탄 하이드레이트 부존층에서 P 파의 큰 진폭 감쇠는 발견되지 않았다. 육안으로 보기에는 탄성파 주파수 대역에서의 최대 감쇠는 저포화도의 가스층에 발생한다. 그와는 반대로 같은 시추공에서 얻어진 음파검층의 주파수 대역 $(10{\sim}20\;kHz)$에서는 가장 높은 P 파의 진폭 감쇠가 메탄 하이드레이트 부존층과 관련이 있었다. 그러므로 이 연구는 메탄 하이드레이트 부존 퇴적층의 진폭 감쇠가 주파수에 의존함을 보여주고 있다. 메탄 하이드레이트 부존층은 탄성파 주파수 대역보다는 음파검층 주파수 대역에서 진폭 감쇠를 유발함을 알 수 있다. $30{\sim}110\;Hz$의 탄성파 주파수 대역이 메탄 하이드레이트 부존에 영향을 받지 않는 이유 중의 하나로서 메탄 하이드레이트 지역의 얇은층 들로 이루어진 층서구조의 영향을 제시하였다.

Improved Attenuation Estimation of Ultrasonic Signals Using Frequency Compounding Method

  • Ultrasonic attenuation is an important parameter in Quantitative Ultrasound and many algorithms have been proposed to improve estimation accuracy and repeatability for multiple independent estimates. In this work, we propose an improved algorithm for estimating ultrasonic attenuation utilizing the optimal frequency compounding technique based on stochastic noise model. We formulate mathematical compounding equations in the AWGN channel model and solve optimization problems to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio for multiple frequency components. Individual estimates are calculated by the reference phantom method which provides very stable results in uniformly attenuating regions. We also propose the guideline to select frequency ranges of reflected RF signals. Simulation results using numerical phantoms show that the proposed optimal frequency compounding method provides improved accuracy while minimizing estimation bias. The estimation variance is reduced by only 16% for the un-compounding case, whereas it is reduced by 68% for the uniformly compounding case. The frequency range corresponding to the half-power for reflected signals also provides robust and efficient estimation performance.

  • To characterize the biological tissues, the new methods to measure the frequency dependent attenuation are presented in this paper. In general, ultrasonic phase information was assumed by linear function of the frequency. But, the minimum phase function which characterizes the frequency dispersion of tissue was derived in [l]. It is very significant to measure the attenuation by using the minimum phase function to characterize the frequency dispersion of tissue. Therefore, a more efficient method measuring the frequency dependent attenuation are proposed by using the estimated sound velocity and polarity of reflected signal. To verify the algorithms, pulse reflection experiments are performed.

  • The distilled water is used for the ultrasonic wave propagating material in the measurements of broadband ultrasonic attenuation (BUA) that is applied in industrial and medical applications, The acoustic impedance of water is significantly changed with its temperature. Therefore, the quantitative evaluation of BUA with temperature and the ultrasonic wave propagating distance is highly needed. In this study, we evaluated the variation of attenuation with change in temperature. To measure the variation of BUA in the low frequency region at the temperatures, 27$^{\circ}C$, 29$^{\circ}C$, and 31$^{\circ}C$, we tested the Plyethylene, Teflon, MC-Nylon, Urethane specimens and analyzed the center frequency, frequency bandwidth, spectral peak amplitude. The results showed that BUA value appeared to be lower with increasing temperature. This may be due to the fact that the frequency feature of ultrasonic wave is affected by not only the specific gravity, acoustic impedence, but material crystalline, porosity, the distance of ultrasonic wave propagation in water.

인체간 조직의 비선형 초음파 감쇄상수 추정 (Estimation of Ultrasound Attenuation Coefficients with Nonlinear Frequency Dependency for Human Liver)

  • In this study, the coefficients of ultrasound attenuation for human liver were determined in 6 normal humans and in 38 patients with diffuse liver disease. The coefficients with linear frequency dependency as well as nonlinear frequency dependency were evaluated. Gaussian pulse propagating in a lossy medium suffers downshifting of a center frequency and decreasing in the bandwidth. Such changes in frequency domain spectrum were quantified in terms of changes in the attenuation coefficients with nonlinear dependency, which in turn improve clinical Implications of the coefficients. Statistical analysis shows that the attenuation coefficients evaluated with nonlinear dependency reflect an improved accuracy for the diffuse liver disease than those with linear dependency. The discriminant analysis also indicate the improved classification with nonlinear dependency(75%) than with linear dependency(61%).

  • A proposed multi-layer ceramic (MLC) chip type band-pass filter (BPF) is presented. The MLC chip BPF has the benefits of low cost and small size. The BPF consists of coulped stripline resonators and coupling capacitors. The BPF is designed to have an attenuation pole at below the passband for a receiver band of IMT-2000 handset. The computer-aided design technology is applied for analysis of the BPF frequency characteristics. The passband and attenuation pole depend the coupling between resonators and coupling capacitance. The frequency characterics of the passband and attenuation pole are analysed with the variance of the coupling between resonators and coupling capacitance. An equivalent circuit and structure of MLC chip BPF are proposed. The frequency characteristics of the BPF is well acceptable for IMT-2000 application.

배기소음기의 구조개선에 의한 소음감쇠 효과에 관한 연구 (A Study on Sound Attenuation by Structure Improvement of Silencer for Exhaust Fan)

  • The silencers are used to attenuate noise generated by the exhaust fan for industrial processes. The types of silencers applied in this study are absorptive duct silencer, expansion chamber, absorptive chamber and resonator. This study was carried out to verify the attenuation by the various silencers and elements. As a result, the difference of attenuation between the calculation and the measurement was about 1-7㏈. The attenuation by absorptive duct silencer and absorptive chamber was negligible at frequencies below 250Hz. The expansion chamber should be used for low frequency applications where the absorptive duct silencer was Ineffective. The attenuation by resonator may be realised when the ratio of frequency to resonant frequency approaches 1.

  • We report the characteristics and differences of two types of attenuation measurement methods for electromagnetic partial discharge signal in GIS. The pulse method is to measure the attenuated waveforms in time domain and coverts them into frequency domain to get the attenuation spectra of given GIS section. This method simulates the real partial discharge signal. The frequency swept continuous wave method can obtain attenuation spectra directly so that it gives attenuation with low noise floor and simplicity. We show that both methods are effective and exchangeable because the attenuation results measured by two methods have similar trends
