  • To apply induction hardening method to a press die having 3-D free surface, the induction hardening tool moves on a press die above 1~2mm gap with constant velocity. Since the induction hardening process requires its own hardening path for each die, a direct teaching method which generates working path directly guided by operators is more suitable than an offline method using CAD/CAM data.   • In recent years, induction motor is applied for several industrial actuatung parts instead of direct current motor because of the robust construction, nonexpensive and maintenance-free actuator etc. and having capability of speed control according to development of power electrounics and microprocessor techniques. In the paper, a microprocessor-based digital control approach for spped control of induction motor system is presented by considering a simple modelling equation as the system expression equation of induction motor and using the self tuning control and torque effdforward control method. As the model equation of the induction motor system, we use a second order differential equation which is well known in the modeling equation is induced form the control theory stand point such tath we can describe usually the motor system connected by inverter, generator and load etc. The effectiveness of the control system composed by the above mentioned design concept is illustrated by the expermental result in the presence of step reference change and generator load variation.

  • This paper is concerned with the design and application of an Electro-Rheological(ER) fluid damper to suppress the vibration of a rotor system. The system is flexible with a slender shaft and a thin disk, being supported by two ball bearings. In addition, to investigate the system performances also in the high speed range, the driving torque is made transmit through a speed increasing gear train. Along with the experiments, to predict and compare the ER damper effect, the rotor system is simulated as to its free and forced vibration characteristics by means of a finite element method code, which is assembled with the mathematical model of the designed ER damper.

  • This paper describes a robust adaptive sliding mode control (RASMC) for torque ripple minimization of switched reluctance motor (SRM) using it in automotive application. The objective is to control effort smoothness while the system is under perturbations by unstructured uncertainties, unknown parameters and external disturbances. The control algorithm employs an adaptive approach to remove the need for prior knowledge within the bound of perturbations. This is suitable for tackling the chattering problem in the sliding motion of sliding mode control method. The algorithm then incorporates modifications in order to build a chattering-free modified robust adaptive sliding mode control using Lyapunov stability theory.

  • In this paper, the new vector control scheme of BLDCM producing loss-minimized ripple-free torque based on the d-q-Ο reference frame is presented including 3 phase unbalanced condition. The optimized phase current wave-forms that are obtained by the proposed method can be a reference values and the motor winding currents are forced to track it by delta modulation technique. As a results, it can be shown that the proposed work provides a simple and clear way to obtain an optimal motor excitation current.

  • In this paper, we consider feedback-kinearizing control of brushless dc motors which have been increasingly used in high-performance servo applications, We completely characterize the whole class of the feedback controllers that enable the brushless dc motors to behave like linear systems but without torque ripple. The whole class of the feedback-linearizing controllers is characterized in the explicit form which contains a function to be chosen freely. The previously known controllers correspond to either the particular ones in our whole class of the feedback-Linearzing controllers or their truncated Fourier expansions. This free function can be used to achieve other control objectives as well as linear dynamic characteristics. Furthermore, our feedback-linearizing controllers can be easily determined from the measurement data of back EMF.

Robust Fault-Tolerant Control for Robotic Systems

  • In this paper, a robust fault-tolerant control scheme for robot manipulators overcoming actuator failures is presented. The joint(or actuator) fault considered in this paper is the free-swinging joint failure and causes the loss of torque on a joint. The presented fault-tolerant control framework includes a normal control with normal(non-failed) operation, a fault detection and a fault-tolerant control to achieve task completion. For both no uncertainty case and uncertainty case, a stable normal con-troller and an on-line fault detection scheme are presented. After the detection and identification of joint failures, the robot manipulator becomes the underactuated robot system with failed actuators. A robust adaptive control scheme of robot manipulators with the detected failed-actuators using the brakes equipped at the failed(passive) joints is proposed in the presence of parametric uncertainty and external disturbances. To illustrate the feasibility and validity of the proposed fault-tolerant control scheme, simulation results for a three-link planar robot arm with a failed joint are presented.

On Propeller Performance of DTC Post-Panamax Container Ship

  • The propeller performance has been investigated using a benchmark Duisburg Test Case ship with RANSE. First, the hydrodynamic characteristics of propeller in case of open water have been analyzed by a commercial CFD program and the results are compared with those of experimental data. Later, the flow around the bare hull has been solved and the frictional resistance value and form factor of the ship have been obtained and compared with those of ITTC57 formulation and experimental results for validation. The free surface effect has been ignored. A good agreement has been obtained between the results of RANSE and experiments at both stages. Then the ship - propeller interaction problem was solved by RANSE and the differences in thrust, torque and efficiency of propeller as compared with the open-water numerical results have been discussed.

  • This paper covers starting characteristics and design of wound motor induction rmtor can used to double excited induction mootor. They are employing in many electrical equiprrent system of industrial field The stator is satre as that of conventional induction motor. But rotor was rewind with new style, as result both of starting torque and operating efficiency could be high, But starting current could be small. Could obtain the satre result as that of conventional induction rmtor with external resistance on the rotor. The structure could be simple, system cost could be low and the maintanence free, Because of no slip rings, no brushes and no external resistance.stance.

  • A new co-evolutionary algorithm, of which the convergence speed is accelerated by neural networks, is proposed and verified in this paper. To reduce computational load required for co-evolutionary optimization processes, the cost function and constraint information is stored in the neural networks, and the extra offspring group, whose cost is computed by the neural networks, is generated. It increases the offspring population size without overloading computational effort; therefore, the convergence speed is accelerated. The proposed algorithm is applied to attitude control design of flexible satellites, and it is verified by computer simulations and experiments using a torque-free air bearing system.
