  • The location selection of the element that should guarantee easy visual perception, like the landmark, is the a topic that appears much in the design process. Recently, a graph analysis technique using computers has been applied in order to evaluate the visibility of the visual element, but the analytic frame is flat and the setting of the visual pont and the matrix are fixed so there were great limitations in obtaining the results of the practical analysis. Thus, this study presented Nondirectional Multi-Dimensional Calculation (MDVC-N), an analytic methodology available for the analysis of the dynamic visual point in the 3D environment. It thus attempted to establish the analytic application using the 3D computer graphics technology and designed a script structure to set the visual point and the matrix. In addition to that, this study tried to verify the analytic methodology by applying the complex land as an example model, where buildings in various heights of terrains with a high-differences are located, verifying the same analytic methodology. It thus tried to identify the visual characteristics of each alternative location. The following results were gained from the study. 1) The visibility can be measured quantitatively trough the application of the 6-alternatives. 2) Using the 3dimensional graph, intuitive analysis was possible. 3) It attempted to improve the analytic applicability by calculating the results corrected as a variable behavior from the local integration variable of the space syntax.

  • The study considers viewpoints for qualitative improvement of landscape planning based on research literature, books and reports. By classifying items used in this study, evaluation criteria was derived for viewpoint selection using SPSS Statistics. In addition, we establish weights and prioritize viewpoints by measuring the relative importance within the hierarchical index. The analysis results are as follows: First, 16 viewpoints were determined using surveys from experts to establish specific and systematic plans for landscape simulation. Second, with respect to the medium classification level of viewpoint evaluation, the most important factor found was 'view' followed by 'publicness' and 'place.' Third, priority by viewpoint was found to exhibit the following order of relative importance: visual openness of viewpoint, favorability as view target, cultural property space, historicity, public place, gateway place, area where the target can be observed, thickly-populated or most-used place, place where various shapes of targets and surrounding landscape can be identified, ecological protection area, river and waterside area, viewing angle (relief-etching), viewing direction, major roads, distance between the viewpoint and the target, and plains and farmland. These results can contribute to developing systematic and reliable analysis frame for qualitative improvement of landscape planning and evaluating landscape simulation.

  • Many nucleoside diphosphate (NDP) kinases are ubiquitous enzymes responsible for the exchange of ${\gamma}$-phosphates between tri- and diphosphonucleosides. The catalytic Many nucleoside diphosphate (NDP) kinases are ubiquitous enzymes responsible for the exchange of ${\gamma}$-phosphates between tri- and diphosphonucleosides. The catalytic reaction follows a ping-pong mechanism in which the enzyme is transiently phosphorylated on a histidine residue conserved in all nucleoside diphosphate kinases. Beside their role in nucleotide synthesis, these enzymes present additional functions, possibly independent of catalysis, in processes such as differentiation, cell growth, tumor progression, metastasis and development. To clone murine nm23-M5, several expressed sequence tags (ESTs) of the GenBank data base, selected according to their homology to nm23-H5 cDNA, reconstituted a complete open reading frame (GenBank AF222750). To test whether murine NDPKs (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6) can inhibit Bax-mediated toxicity in yeast, co-transformation was performed respectively. The yeast S.cerevisiae was transformed with a copy expression plasmid containing the histidine selection marker and expressing murine Bax under the control of a galactose-inducible promoter. Several clones were selected and found to be growth inhibited when Bax expression was induced with galactose. A representative clone was transformed again with a copy expression plasmid containing the tryptophane selection marker and expressing either murine Bcl-xL or NDPK under the control of a galactose-inducible promoter. Several subclones of the double-transformants were selected and characterized. The ability of Bcl-xL and NDPKs to suppress Bax-mediated toxicity was determined by growing yeast cells overnight in galactose media and spot-testing on galactose plates starting with an equal number of yeast cells as determined by taking the OD$_{600}$. Ten-fold serial dilutions were used in the spot-test. Plates were grown at 3$0^{\circ}C$ for 2-3 days. All murine NDPKs suppressed Bax dependent apoptosis. Futher study will be peformed whether Bax-toxicity inhibition was caused by NDP kinase activity or additional function.n.

  • This study presents a non-prismatic beam element for modeling the elastic behavior of steel beams, which have the post-Northridge connections in steel moment frames. The elastic stiffness matrix, including the shear effects for non-prismatic members with reduced beam section (RBS) connection, is in closed form. A simplified approach is also suggested, which uses a prismatic beam element to model beams with the RBS connection. This method can estimate quiteexactly the maximum story drift ratios of frames with the RBS connection. The effects of reduced beam section connection on the elastic stiffness of steel moment frames were investigated. The selection of a proper model to account for deformations at the joint might have a more important role in estimating the maximum story drift ratios of frames with better accuracy than the RBS cutouts.

  • Most of existing biomedical signal measurement devices measure and evaluate biomedical signal only in a single device. Also, even if the device is multi-functional, those biomedical signals can be measured by selection of the user. In this paper, we implemented wristband-style biomedical signal measurement device for u-healthcare system to solve the problem above. Implemented device uses 4 infrared sensors to measure the pulse, 2 electrodes to measure the skin conductivity, and 3-axis accelerometer to measure momentum. Also, we propose a communication packet frame for transmitting biomedical signal data to PC or mobile device, using Zigbee. Studies show that our device has the error rate of less than twice for pulse measurement, 85.6%, 84.7% reliability for momentum measurement, and the skin conductivity has changed according to the user's physical status.

  • As many mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets are widely spread, optimized mobile video encoder used during video recording application is needed. In this paper, we implemented H.264/AVC base profile video encoder on a mobile device and empirically optimized control parameters of the encoder. As the experiment, we more than 100 test cases were designed with varying Lagrangian optimization, Hadamard Transform, search range, I-frame period, and reference frames. During the experiment, we measured picture quality, bit-rate, encoding time, motion estimation time, and power consumption. From the result, we can determine optimal values for the H.264 control parameters.

  • The fashion industry that perceived the severity of environmental pollution, has sought various methods of sustainable fashion. However, most of the businesses paid attention to the development of materials using industrial waste, or vegan material. Thus, this study aims to present the methods for improvement in creativity for inversely developing the design from patterns and present new approaches by applying the contrarian development of proto to class under the limited condition of material concerning general design, selection of material, and production of sample. In the case of three student teams enrolled in the first semester of the second year, the fabric and used clothing donated by industry were used as material. The whole cut for cutting a single fabric in connected state, and Zero Wastes Design within a rectangular frame of fabric, upcycling of used clothes, and cutting out of Geometric Form are suggested. The team(A) produced a zero-wastes coat and whole-cut Pancho that could be variously represented. The team(B) produced two kinds of asymmetric dress by utilizing used check-patterned shirts through upcycling. The team(C) utilized the fabric in geometric forms such as rectangle, trapezoid, and atypical figure by drawing design within donated fabrics. The items were a dress, blouse, and skirt. Consequently, an opportunity for both academia and industry to present more concrete methods for sustainable fashion and deeply perceive the sustainable fashion is presented along with novel methods for creation by carrying out the composition of pattern and design at the same time.

  • This paper proposes a novel forward vehicle tracking algorithm based on the WMIL(Weighted Multiple Instance Learning) equipped with a particle filter. In the proposed algorithm Haar-like features are used to train a vehicle object detector to be tracked and the location of the object are obtained from the recognition result. In order to combine both the WMIL to construct the vehicle detector and the particle filter, the proposed algorithm updates the object location by executing the propagation, observation, estimation, and selection processes involved in particle filter instead of finding the credence map in the search area for every frame. The proposed algorithm inevitably increases the computation time because of the particle filter, but the tracking accuracy was highly improved compared to Ababoost, MIL(Multiple Instance Learning) and MIL-based ones so that the position error was 4.5 pixels in average for the videos of national high-way, express high-way, tunnel and urban paved road scene.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method for improving the H 264 encoding process and motion estimation part. Our approach is a method to reduce the encoding running time through the omission of reference frame in the mode selection process of H 264 and an improvement of SAD computing process. To evaluate the proposed method, we used the H 264 standard image of QCIF size and TIN 4:2:0 format. Experimental results show that proposed SAD algorithm 1 can improve the speed of encoding runnung time by an average of 4.7% with a negligible degradation of PSNR. However, SAD algorithm 2 can improve the speed of encoding runnung time by an average of 9.6% with 0.98dB degradation of PSNR.

  • Recently, many advanced video application services over the mobile wireless networks have required a transcoder which can efficiently reduce the size of compressed video bitstreams. The transcoder can be worked in either the spatial domain or the DCT domain. In this paper, we propose a new fast hybrid-type transcoder which can efficiently reduce the frame size with keeping the visual quality. The proposed scheme consists of two major processes: a transform domain process and a spatial domain process. We also propose a scheme for coding mode selection and motion vector refinement. Experimental results show that our approach can reduce the computational complexity more than any other conventional spatial-domain transcoder with keeping the visual quality.
