A Study on the Flame Monitoring System Development (화염감시 시스템 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Increased energy costs have placed demands for improved combustion efficiency, high equipment availability, low maintenance and safe operation. Simultaneously low NOx modification, installed due to stricter environmental legislations, require very careful combustion management. The flame diagnostics system has been developed specially to meet these requirements. We aimed at gaining the relationship between burner flame image and emissions such as NOx and unburned carbon in furnace by utilizing the image processing method. For the first step of development, its possibility test was undertaken with bench furnace. The test proceeded to the second step with pilot furnace, the system was observed to be effective for evaluating the combustion conditions.

  • Driving the need for machine vision system is growing consumer demand for quality and defect-free products. Especially it is the most important in tarpaulin's manufacturing process achieves automatically by machine vision instead of by man vision. In this paper pinholes detection is performed by using morphology algorithms. Top hat transform is one of morphology applications. This transform take high performance of defect detection in the case that unexpected changes occur in some non-uniform background. For pinholes defect, automatic visual inspection system has been developed, which was composed by a line-scan camera, illumination, a frame grabber, a motor driver and control units. This system has excellent capacity to defect pinholes to the 0.1 mm by 0.5 mm in size and to work in moving objects by maximum 20 m/min in speed.

Detection of Surface Defects in Eggs Using Computer Vision (컴퓨터 시각을 이용한 계란 표면의 결함 검출)

  • A computer vision system was built to generate images of a stationary egg. This system includes a. CCD camera, a frame grabber, and an incandescent back lighting system An image processing algorithm was developed to accurately detect surface holes and surface cracks on eggs. With 20W of incandescent back light, the detection rate was shown to be the highest. The Sobel operator was found to be the best among various enhancing filters examined. The threshold value to distinguish between the crack and the translucent spots was found to be linear with the average gray level of a whole egg image. Those values of both gray level and area were used as criteria to detect holes in egg and those values of both area and roundness were used to detect cracks in egg. For a sample of 300 eggs, this system was able to correctly analyze an egg for the presence of a defect 97.5% of the time. On the average, it took 59.5 seconds to analyze an egg image and determine whether or not it was defected.

  • In this study, an inspection system for automotive parts using machine vision has been developed and presented. The system is comprised of six analog CCD cameras, frame grabber, and mechanism that loads the automotive parts to the system for the inspection. An Image processing algorithm for detecting eight different types of defects of oil-seals are developed, and the effectiveness of the algorithm is experimentally verified. Inspection process is completed in 1 second with acceptable accuracy. It is envisaged that this inspection system will have a wide application in the automotive part manufacturing industry in the future.

  • Growth information of crops is essential for efficient control of greenhouse environment. However, a few non-invasive and continuous monitoring methods of crop growth has been developed. A computer vision system with a CCD camera and a frame grabber was developed to conduct non-destructive and intact plant growth analyses. The developed system was evaluated by conducting the growth analysis of lettuce. A linear model that explains the relationship between the relative crop coverage by the crop canopy and dry weight of a lettuce was presented. It was shown that this measurement method could estimate the dry weight from the relative crop coverage by the crop canopy. The result also showed that there was a high correlation between the projected top leaf area and the dry weight of the lettuce.

  • In this paper, we describe an real-time facial feature tracker. We only used a general USB PC Camera without a frame grabber. The system has achieved a rate of 8+ frames/second without any low-level library support. It tracks pupils, nostrils and corners of the lip. The signal from USB Camera is YUV 4:2:0 vertical Format. we converted the signal into RGB color model to display the image and We interpolated V channel of the signal to be used for extracting a facial region. and we analysis 2D blob features in the Y channel, the luminance of the image with geometric restriction to locate each facial feature within the detected facial region. Our method is so simple and intuitive that we can make the system work in real-time.

  • 컴퓨터 비젼은 지난 30년간 빠른 속도로 발전해왔다. 1970년대 초에는 인공지능분야가 굉장히 다양하게 연구되었는데, 그중 Condensation 알고리즘으로 알려진 블레이크 교수의 연구를 시작으로 많은 연구자들이 이 알고리즘을 연구하기 시작했다. 초기 단계에서 이 알고리즘은 파티클 필터라고 알려져 있고, 근래 신호처리 분야에서 두각을 나타내고 있다 하지만 파티클 필터는 내부적인 계산과정 때문에 FrameGrabber가 필요하게 되어 하드웨어 없이는 실시간 처리가 힘들고, 1분에 30프레임의 동영상 규격보다 훨씬 더 많은 50프레임을 사용하고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 동영상처리기법에 있어서 DirectX 기반의 제안된 프레임 컨트롤이라는 기법을 사용하여, 변화하는 동영상에 능동적으로 반응하는 하드웨어 없는 프레임 레이트(Framerate) 컨트롤 엔진을 사용하여, 실시간 인물 추적 알고리즘을 구현하려 한다.

Development of a Noncontact Three Dimensional Foot Form Measurement System with a Stereo Vision Method (스테레오 비젼을 이용한 비접촉 3차원 족형 측정 시스템 설계)

  • In this paper, a cost-effective integrated 3D system for measuring and sizing foot is proposed. The proposed system employs two CCDs and a laser line projector which are capable of accurately measuring foot. The measurement is based upon the biologically motivated stereo vision principle providing ruggedness against minor system distortions. According to the tolerance, calibration between two different views are implicitly applied. Furthermore, the measurement system employs a measurement base, a frame grabber, a CCD moving cart, a stepping motor and computer. Analysis and design procedure is presented for the calculation of the 3D foot data and the proposed system. Experimental results on the proposed system would verify the concept and system operation.

  • 전남대학교 치과대학 학생을 대상으로 평행촬영법으로 촬영한 168장의 구내방사선사진을 디지털 영상으로 변환하여, 필름상의 치석 유무 판독 결과와 모니터상의 판독 결과를 비교하였다. 3명의 구강악안면방사선학 전공 치과의사가 판독을 하되 필름상의 판독 결과를 판정의 기준으로 하였다. 디지털 영상은 상업용 필름-비디오 변환장치, 486DX PC, 그리고 PcVision과 frame grabber을 이용하여 얻었다. 모니터상의 개개 구내방사선사진상은 700×480 pixel로 나타내었다. 디지털 영상의 치석진단의 sensitivity는 0.79-0.90(평균 0.86) 이었고, specificity는 0.03-0.43(평균 0.17) 이었다.

  • 전남대학교 치과진료처에 내원한 환자의 구내방사선사진중 1단계 (Cl: 30개 병소)또는 2단계(C2: 213.8병소)의 인접면 치아우식을 가진 방사선사진 168장을 연구대상으로 하였다. 이들 방사선사진은 코닥사의 Ektaspeed(E group) 필름을 사용하여 평행촬영법으로 촬영하였다. 168장의 방사선사진에 대하여 1단계 및 2단계 치아우식증을 4명의 구강악안면방사선학을 전공한 치과의사들이 같이 판독하여 그 결과를 기록하였다. 또한 168장의 방사선사진을 필름-비디오 변환장치를 이용하여 디지털 영상으로 전환하였다. 이때 486 DX PC에 PCVision과 frame grabber를 이용하였다. 각각의 구내방사선사 진영상은 17"크기의 1280×768픽셀의 해상도를 갖는 모니터상에서 256단계 흑화도를 갖는 700×480픽셀로 제시되었다. 모니터상에서의 치아우식 판독 결과를 구내방사선사진 판독 결과와 비교하였다. 그 결과 sensitivity는 0.98이었다. 1단계 치아우식은 0.87, 2단계 치아우식 은 1.00의 sensitivity를 나타내었다.
