In this study, an ecological fragmentation improvement effect from different riverine ecobelt width was analyzed. The target river for this study is the Hongcheon river in Kangwondo. This section of 11 km among the Hongchenon river was reported to be seriously fragmented in the previous literatures. The Hongcheon river of 11 km was divided longitudinally into subsections of 1 km. The analysis through map and aerial photograph as well as field surveys were performed in 11 subsections(A-K). Using the fragmentation index, the connectivity fragmentation such as river bank, road, and land use and the ecological functional fragmentation were evaluated. The results showed that I-section has the highest fragmentation rate. The Hongcheon river in the present status without ecobelt was analyzed to has the fragmentation of 2nd rate from the mean fragmentation value of 11-subsections. Also, when the riverine ecobelt of 10 m-50 m was restored, the improvement effect of connectivity fragmentation was relatively small, while for the ecological fragmentation, the improvement effect of 12.4-25.1% was predicted. Also, the ecobelts of 10 m and 30 m were evaluated to have a relatively great improvement effect. Especially, for the ecobelt of 30m width, the fragmentation rate was mitigated form 2nd rate to 3rd rate.
The fragmentation of Mg and Mg-25(w/o) Al alloy particles in hydriding-dehydriding was studied. The formation of hydride was made in autoclave, and formed hydrides were $MgH_2$ in both pure Mg and Mg-25(w/o) Al alloy particles. Pure Mg was more fractured than Mg-25(w/o) Al alloy in hydriding. The addition of Al exhibited fragmentation in hydriding, but displayed the same fragmentation as Mg in dehydriding.
The rock fragmentation system with a capacitor bank, switching device, cable and blasting electrode are described. Utilization of the chemical energy from the electrolyte and the pseudospark with a large current capacity suggested the commercialization possibility of the rock fragmentation system. The vibration and noise level of the pulsed blasting is acceptable in the most ground breaking. And also the electromagnetic force produced by the inductor is introduced for the rock fragmentation.

In this study, an evaluation method was proposed to determine the restoration section in the riverine ecobelt project. The target river for this study is the Hongcheon river in Kangwon-do. The Hongcheon river of 96 km was divided longitudinally into subsections of 2 km. The analysis through map and aerial photograph as well as field surveys were performed in 48-sub-sections. The fragmentation items were classified into connectivity and ecological functionality. The connectivity fragmentation was also divided into two items: the area discontinuity of the land use and the line discontinuity of river bank and road. Also, the ecological functional fragmentation was evaluated by using the items of river channel, river bed, vegetation, and the obstruction of river flow. These items was modified from those in the previous literature. From map analyses and field surveys, the fragmentation score was kept with each items in 48 sub-sections of Hongcheon river. The fragmentation rate was made from the total score in each section. The results showed that sections from F1 to G2 was evaluated to have high rates of all connectivity and functionality fragmentation of 1st or 2nd rate. Other sections have high connectivity fragmentation of 2nd rate, but low functional fragmentation. Thus, these sections are evaluated to be excludible in restoration site. This study seems to make a contribution to evaluate the fragmented sections for the riverine ecobelt project.

The purpose of this study is to quantitatively and visually analyze the degree of green biotope fragmentation caused by road construction and other development work using FRAGSTATS and GUIDOS tool. Moreover, linking of the endangered species research, we mapped "Biotope Fragmentation Map" of Daejeon-city. The findings of the study are summarized as follows: First, as the result of FRAGSTATS, landscape indices : number of patch(NP), mean patch size (MPS), edge length(TE), mean nearest neighbor distance(MNN), edge shape(LSI) showed meaningful change from fragmentation. Moreover, the result of GUIDOS analysis, middle core-small core-bridge-branch-edge-islet-perforation showed increase of area percentage without large core. Lastly, analysis result of 'Biotope Fragmentation Map' revealed that changing site of large core's size appeared eighteen-site and designated as the special protection area appeared forty-one site. As the result of the two data, overlapping areas that showed both change of core size and revealed special protection areas revealed four site. For example, five species of endangered species appeared on the NO. 4 site in 'Biotope Fragmentation Map'. The findings of this study as summarized above are considered to play an important role in basic data preventing green biotope fragmentation at the planned level from various development work.

We propose a network node search scheme to address the network fragmentation due to high node mobility in the VANET. VANET is very similar to MANET in that a multi-hop ad-hoc network is configured by wireless communication between vehicles without any network infrastructure. However, high speed mobility, high node density, and frequent topology change induce frequent network fragmentation so that overall network traffic can be increased. In this paper, new broadcasting protocol called an adaptive relay node search protocol is proposed to decrease the network fragmentation. It reduces the network fragmentation and network traffic by researching nodes outside the dangerous area only in case of network fragmentation. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol decreases network fragmentation by up to 39.9% and increase informed rate by up to 41.9% compared to the existing broadcasting protocol.

Recent studies reported that natural block size of rock and joint orientation highly affect on rock fragmentation. In this study, blasting test using high strength cement mortar was carried out to verify this fact. The result of this test indicated that fragmentation is influenced by the joint interval, and at same joint interval condition, fragmentation depends on joint orientation. These results are significantly coincident with field investigations.
Fragmentation is one factor to affect productivity and economic efficiency of mine. Authors investigate the blasting pattern and improve it step by step while observing the fragmentation results. Final pattern was suggested and the fragmentation improved 24 % compared to traditional pattern, with 50 % is passing rate.
We investigate the fragmentation process developed by Kolmogorov and Filippov, which has been studied extensively by many physicists (independently for some time). One of the most interesting phenomena is the shattering (or disintegration of mass) transition which is considered a counterpart of the well known gelation phenomenon in the coagulation process. Though no masses are subtracted from the system during the break-up process, the total mass decreases in finite time. The occurrence of shattering transition is explained as due to the decomposition of the mass into an infinite number of particles of zero mass. It is known only that shattering phenomena occur for some special types of break-up rates. In this paper, by considering the n-particle system of stochastic fragmentation processes, we find general conditions of the rates which guarantee the occurrence of the shattering transition.
