Korean heritage students and language literacy: A qualitative approach

  • This paper is a qualitative study of the experiences of Korean heritage language learners (KHLLs) with literacy (reading and writing), particularly before they enter the college-level heritage language classroom. Previous research, both qualitative and quantitative, has addressed the overall language background of KHLLs, including oral and aural proficiency and writing and reading ability, as well as demographic information (such as when the student immigrated to the United States) in relation to language test scores. This study addresses KHLL experiences in the following six areas as they relate to student perceptions and attitudes toward their own heritage language literacy: language proficiency, motivation for learning, academic preparedness, cultural connectedness, emotional factors, and social factors. Fourteen undergraduate students at a university in the western United States participated in a convenience sample by responding to a 10-question survey. Trends in responses indicated that KHLLs entered the classroom with high integrational motivation and experienced great satisfaction with perceived progress in literacy, but students also expressed regret for having missed childhood learning experiences that would likely have resulted in higher proficiency. These experiences include informal and formal instruction in the home and formal instruction outside of the home.

소상공인 일터학습이 경영성과에 미치는 영향 직무만족을 매개로 (The Influence of Small Enterprise Workplace Learning on Management Performance: The Mediating Effect of Job Satisfaction)

  • 본 연구는 기업사례 연구에서 유의하게 영향 미쳤던 일터학습을 배경으로 연구 진행하게 되었다. 진위에 따라 소상공인의 일터학습 참여기회가 왜? 필요한지 밝히려 했으며, 내용을 기반으로 소상공인들의 성장과 발전 가능성을 높이려 했다. 또한 이러한 일련의 과정을 통해 경영성과에 영향 미침을 확인하려 했다. 따라서 소상공인의 일터학습이 경영성과에 미치는 영향관계를 규명하려 했으며, 선행연구 고찰을 통해 연구가설을 설정했고, 실증분석을 실행했다. 203부의 설문을 SPSS 18.0 통계프로그램으로 실증분석을 실시했다. 결과 첫 번째, 일터학습이 직무만족에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 부분적으로 미쳤다. 두 번째, 일터학습이 경영성과에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤다. 세 번째, 직무만족이 경영성과에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤다. 네 번째, 일터학습, 경영성과 간의 관계에서 직무만족이 부분매개효과를 나타냈다. 분석결과 일터학습의 하위요인 형식학습만 직무만족에 영향을 미치지 못했으며, 형식학습과 경영성과 간의 직무만족은 매개효과가 나타나지 않았다. 이유: 열약한 소상공인의 환경에서는 외부 또는 자체교육 등 형식학습의 참여기회를 간직하지 못했던 것이 원인으로 분석되었다. 즉, 경영학적, 경제학적, 사회학적 시각에 따른 열약한 소상공인의 환경을 그대로 드러내고 있었던 것이다. 따라서 소상공인도 일터학습에 참여할 수 있는 기회를 갖게 함으로써 자력에 따른 문제해결과 상생발전 능력을 키울 성장기틀을 마련하기 위함이며, 정책과 교육, 경영에도 이바지할 수 있는 제도장치 제안을 위함이다. 이와 같이 유의한 내용의 연구결과임에도 불고하고 한계점이 있을 수 있다. 향후 진행연구는 다양한 변수의 관계를 설명할 수 있는 표본을 중심으로 여러 분야에서 연구되어야 할 것이다. 또한 경영성과를 크게 향상시킬 수 있는 학문과 연결된 실무차원의 관계연구도 진행되어야 할 것이다.

초등학교에서 로봇활용이 과학 학습동기에 미치는 효과 (A Study on The Effect of Science Learning Motivation Using Robot in Elementary School)

  • 새로운 교육기술도구인 교육용 로봇은 K-12 교육에서 많은 인기를 얻어가고 있다. 특히 로봇은 STEM 관련 교과의 학업성취와 학업능력에도 효과적이라고 보고되고 있다. 하지만 지금까지 수행된 대부분의 로봇활용 연구는 정규교육과정 밖에서 실시되어왔다. 본 연구는 한국의 초등학교 과학수업에서 로봇활용이 과학교과의 학습동기에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 연구에 참여한 초등학생은 4, 5학년 121명이었으며 실험집단은 로봇을 활용한 과학수업을 실시하였고 통제집단은 전통적방식의 과학수업을 실시하였다. 집단별 사전 사후 학습동기를 비교하기 위해 공변량 분석을 실시하였으며 실험집단의 학생은 추가적으로 인터뷰가 병행되었다. 연구결과 실험집단은 통제집단보다 학습동기가 유의미하게 향상되었으며(p<.05), 로봇활용수업에 대한 긍정적인 응답도 확인되었다. 본 연구는 향후 정규교육과정에 로봇을 활용하는 연구에 중요한 역할을 할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 본 연구는 학습 형식이 탐험과 활용이라는 양면적 조직성과에 미치는 프로세스에 관해 구성원들이 인지하고 있는 조직 지원과 관계 문화의 특성은 어떤 매개 또는 조절효과를 발휘하고 있는지 분석하였다. 본 연구는 고용노동부와 한국직업능력개발원에서 제공하는 인적 자본 기업 패널 조사를 활용, 설문에 응답한 548명의 데이터를 토대로 실증적으로 검증하였으며, 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 구성원들에게 제공되는 형식 학습과 무형식 학습은 기업의 성과인 탐험 성과와 활용 성과에 모두 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 구성원들이 느끼는 조직 지원 인식은 형식 학습과 무형식 학습이 양면적 조직성과에 미치는 방향에 대해 완전매개, 부분매개 효과를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 관계 문화는 무형식 학습이 조직의 활용 성과에 미치는 관계를 긍정적으로 조절해주는 중요한 영향을 미치고 있었다.

개방·공유·참여의 대학 교육환경 구축 사례 (A Framework for Open, Flexible and Distributed Learning Environment for Higher Education)

  • This study proposes University 2.0 as a model case of open, flexible, and distributed learning environment for higher education based on theoretical foundations and perspectives. As web 2.0 technologies emerge into the field of education, ways of generating and disseminating information and knowledge have been drastically changed. Professors are no longer the only source of knowledge. Students using internet often become prosumers of knowledge who search and access information through the web as well as publish their own knowledge using the web. A concept and framework of University 2.0 is introduced for implementing the new interactive learning paradigm with an open, flexible and distributed learning environment for higher education. University 2.0 incorporates online and offline learning environments with various educational media. Furthermore, it employs various learning strategies and integrates formal and informal learning through learning communities. Both instructors and students in University 2.0 environment are expected to be active knowledge generators as well as creative designers of their own learning and teaching.

고등학교에서의 극한개념 교수.학습에 관한 연구 (A Study on Teaching and Learning of the Limit Concept in High School)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the problems which are caused when the limit concept of sequences is learned through an intuitive definition and to suggest a way of solving those problems. Students in Korea study the limit concept of sequences through an intuitive definition. They fail to apply the intuitive definition properly to the problems and they are apt to have misconception even though the Intuitive definition is applied properly. To solve these problems, this study examined the develop- mental process of the limit concept of sequences from the Intuitive definition to the formal definition, and looked into the way of students' internalization of the process through a field study. In this study, the levels of the limit concept of sequences possessed by the students at ZPD are as follows; level 0 : Students understand the limit concept of sequences through the intuitive definition. level 1 : Students understand the limit concept of sequences as 'The difference between $\alpha$$_{n}$ and $\alpha$ approaches 0' rather than 'The sequence approaches $\alpha$ infinitely.' level 2 : Students understand the limit concept of sequences through the formal definition. The levels of students' limit concept development were analysed by those criteria. Almost of the students who studied the limit concept of sequences through the intuitive defition stayed at level 0, whereas almost of the students who studied through the formal definition stayed at level 1. Through the study, I found that it was difficult for the students to develop the higher level of understanding for themselves but the teachers and peers could help the students to progress to the higher level. Students' learning ability was one of major factors that make the students progress to the higher level of understanding as the concept was developed hierarchically from Level 0 to Level 2. If you want to see your students get to the higher level of understanding in the limit concept, you need to facilitate them to fully develop understanding in lower levels through enough experiences so that they can be promoted to the highest level.

딥러닝을 통한 의미·주제 연관성 기반의 소셜 토픽 추출 시스템 개발 (Development of Extracting System for Meaning·Subject Related Social Topic using Deep Learning)

  • Users are sharing many of contents such as text, image, video, and so on in SNS. There are various information as like as personal interesting, opinion, and relationship in social media contents. Therefore, many of recommendation systems or search systems are being developed through analysis of social media contents. In order to extract subject-related topics of social context being collected from social media channels in developing those system, it is necessary to develop ontologies for semantic analysis. However, it is difficult to develop formal ontology because social media contents have the characteristics of non-formal data. Therefore, we develop a social topic system based on semantic and subject correlation. First of all, an extracting system of social topic based on semantic relationship analyzes semantic correlation and then extracts topics expressing semantic information of corresponding social context. Because the possibility of developing formal ontology expressing fully semantic information of various areas is limited, we develop a self-extensible architecture of ontology for semantic correlation. And then, a classifier of social contents and feed back classifies equivalent subject's social contents and feedbacks for extracting social topics according semantic correlation. The result of analyzing social contents and feedbacks extracts subject keyword, and index by measuring the degree of association based on social topic's semantic correlation. Deep Learning is applied into the process of indexing for improving accuracy and performance of mapping analysis of subject's extracting and semantic correlation. We expect that proposed system provides customized contents for users as well as optimized searching results because of analyzing semantic and subject correlation.

그라스만의 수학 인식과 벡터공간의 일반화 (Grassmann's Mathematical Epistemology and Generalization of Vector Spaces)

  • Hermann Grassmann classified mathematics and extended the dimension of vector spaces by using dialectics of contrasts. In this paper, we investigate his mathematical idea and its background, and the process of the classification of mathematics. He made a synthetic concept of mathematics based on his idea of 'equal' and 'inequal', 'discrete' and 'indiscrete' mathematics. Also, he showed a creation of new mathematics and a process of generalization using a dialectic of contrast of 'special' and 'general', 'real' and 'formal'. In addition, we examine his unique development in using 'real' and 'formal' in a process of generalization of basis and dimension of a vector space. This research on Grassmann will give meaningful suggestion to an effective teaching and learning of linear algebra.

Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment of White Collars: Focus on Job Title

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of education & training and organizational culture on job satisfaction and organizational commitment and then examine the difference that would appear depending on the job title in the case of Korean employees in the manufacturing industry. Research design, data, and methodology - Our sample consisted of 1,013 administrative employees in the manufacturing industry with data extracted from the 4th Human Capital Corporate Panel (2011) survey. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were conducted. Results - Results showed that education & training had positive effect only on job satisfaction while organizational culture had positive effect on both job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Components under education & training (duration of the formal learning, efficacy of formal learning and efficacy of informal learning) and organizational culture (equity, communication, talent recognition, innovation) that were found to be affecting job satisfaction and organizational commitment revealed to be different depending on the hierarchical position of the employee. Conclusions - Different approach and policy for each group of job title could be considered in order to increase job satisfaction and enhance organizational commitment of the employees.
