A computer simulation method for investigating the form generation mechanism in the centerless through-feed grinding process is described. The length of the contact line and the magnitude of the grinding force between the grinding wheel and workpieces, vary with the change in the axial location of the current workpiece during grinding. Thus, a new coordinate system and a grinding force curve of previous and/or following workpieces are introduced to treat the axial motion. Experiments and computer simulations were carried out using four types of cylindrical workpiece shapes. To validate this model, simulation results are compared with the experimental results.

Microelectronics device performance and its reliability are directly related to and controlled by its constituent materials and their microstructure. Specific processes used to form and shape the materials microstructure need to be controlled in order to achieve the ultimate device performance. Examples of front-end and back-end ULSI processes, packaging process, and novel optical storage materials are given to illustrate such process-structure-property-reliability relationship. As more novel materials are introduced to meet the new requirements for device shrinkage, such under-standing is indispensable for future generation process development and reliability assessment.
In this study the predictions of NOx in methane-air lean premixed combustion in PSR were carried out with GRI 3.0 methane-air combustion mechanism and Zeldovich, nitrous oxide, prompt, and NNH NO formation mechanism by using CHEMKIN code. The results are compared to the JSR experimental data of Rutar for the validation of the model. This study concerns about the importance of the chemical pathways. The chemical pathway most likely to form the NO in methane-air lean-premixed combustion was investigated. The results obtained with the 4 different NO mechanisms for residence time(0.5-1.6ms) and pressure(3, 4.7, 6.5 atm) are compared and discussed.
Recently, Silicon Nitrde ceramic is regarded as the representative engineering ceramic with the excellent mechanical properties and many functions for mechanical components and parts among various kinds of ceramics in the mechanical industry. But, during the manufacturing of engineering ceramics, there is many volumetric shrinkage coupled with a distortion of the parts which is produced. Due to the requirement for high accuracy of size, form, and surface finish of the components, machining is needed surely. Nowdays, grinding with a resin bond type diamond wheels has been generally applied to machining of the engineering ceramics in the whole world because that it can be conveniently proceeded for workers to dress of tool and made with high reliability in producing factories among many bond type super-abrasive wheels yet. It is important task for attaining prescribed mechanical components with high reliability to observe the grinding mechanism of ceramics as like generation of cracks and chipping of material during process. Because they considerably effects on the strength characteristic of machined mechanical components. In this study, various surface grinding experiments using resin bond type diamond wheels are carried out for Silicon Nitride ceramic. Grinding mechanism of ceramics is observed experimentally and the relationship with various conditions is also attained. Form this experimental study, some useful machining data and information to determine proper machining condition for grinding of Silicon Nitride ceramic is obtained.
In this paper, we examine what changes the next-generation wireless communication systems will experience in terms of the technologies, services, and networks and, based on that, we investigate how the inter-cell interference management should evolve in various aspects. We identify that the main driving forces of the future changes involve the data-centric services, new dynamic service scenarios, all-IP core access networks, new physical-layer technologies, and heavy upload traffic. We establish that in order to cope with the changes, the next-generation inter-cell interference management should evolve to 1) set the objective of providing a maximal data rate, 2) take the form of joint management of power allocation and user scheduling, 3) operate in a fully distributed manner, 4) handle the time-varying channel conditions in mobile environment, 5) deal with the changes in interference mechanism triggered by the new physical-layer technologies, and 6) increase the spectral efficiency while avoiding centralized coordination of resource allocation of the users in the uplink channel.
In the area of artificial photosynthesis, particularly for the generation of hydrogen form water, much attention has been paid on organic-inorganic hybrid system. Most of all, a dye/TiO2-combined system has been suggested and its potential utility was well manifested. However, due to its complicated nature of charge interactions in between dye and TiO2 -interface there remains a great challenge to establish the charge-activity relationship, per se light driven charge generation and recombination kinetics with respect to the amount of hydrogen produced. Further complexity of that hybrid system has been witnessed when sacrificial donor and aqueous media are considered. To unveil the operating mechanism on such a dye/TiO2-combined system, we have prepared organic dyes suitable to account for the effect of sacrificial donor as well as water interactions, and prepared the typical dye-grafted TiO2 films to investigate charge-activity relationship. Femtosecond flash photolysis clearly defined the dye effects anchored on to the TiO2 platform. In addition, photodynamic data contemplated well to the dye orientation proposed by the DFT calculations. Recent findings provide fundamental understanding on the dye-grafted TiO2 system and establish a firm background how future dye-sensitized organic-inorganic hybrid system can be designed for the light driven hydrogen generation from water.
In order to evaluate the anticancer activity of 1,4-naphthoquinone derivatives, several 1,4-naphthoquinone derivatives were newly synthesized and subjected to mouse leukemia p-388 cell line by MTT cytotoxicity assay. Among the several 1,4-naphtho-quinone derivatives, YC-001 has showed the most potent anticancer activity. To determine the safety of YC-001, hematotoxicity was tested. YC-001 induced hemolysis increased with both concentration and time dependent manner. The mechanism of hemolysis considered to be the generation of oxygen free radicals and lipid peroxydation of erythrocyte membrane which composed of phospholipids. Also methemoglobin, oxidized form of hemoglobin, was formed by YC-001.
한국전자통신연구원에서도 이러한 요구를 만족하는 4세대 이동 통신 시스템인 WiNGS(Wireless Initiative for Next Generation Service) 시스템$^{[1]}$을 설계하고 있다.
Purpose Since human brains catch images faster than texts or numbers, infographics has been widely used in business in the form of "information dashboard" to enhance the efficiency of decision-making. Groupware, however, has neglected the adoption and use of infographics, in particular, in the idea generation process. Given that an overall performance of groupware-based idea generation is no better than that of the (paper-and-pencil-based) Nominal Group Technique, Jung et al. (2010) adopted the notion of infographics in the form of performance feedback to solve the productivity paradox. With the consistent results, which demonstrate beneficial effects of infographics on performance enhancement, an interesting observation that groups with the bar chart treatment performed better than groups with the dot chart treatment was made. The main purpose of this study was to find if there were a performance consistency between the outcomes from the previous study and the outcomes from the current study. Design/methodology/approach In experiment 1, we employed the same system used in the previous study (i.e., Jung et al., 2010). As individuals' contributions accumulated, the mechanism visually displayed individuals' performances two-dimensionally in the form of a bar chart or a dot chart. Then, we compared the performance outcomes from this study to the outcomes from previous study (i.e., Jung et al., 2010). In experiment 2, we modified the performance graph to test the effect of "playfulness" on performance by converting dots to car images. Then, we compared the performance outcome from experiment 2 to the outcomes from experiment 1. Findings Just like our interesting (and unexpected) finding in Jung et al.'s study (2010), the outcome confirmed a consistent superior performance of a bar chart. This implies that a bar chart is a better choice when stimulating performance with a visual aid in the context of groupware-based idea generation. Although a bar chart was criticized in a way that errors of length-area judgments are 40 ~ 250% greater than those of positional judgments along a common scale, such illusion turned out to be facilitating upward performance comparison better. Regarding Experiment 2, the outcome showed that the revised-dot graph is as good as the bar graph in terms of quantity and quality score of ideas. We attribute the performance enhancement of the resized-dot to the interaction between the motivational characteristic and the situational characteristic of playfulness because individuals in the revised-dot graph treatment performed better than individuals in the dot graph treatment. Given the order of performance (Bar >= Revised Dot > Dot) that the revised-dot treatment performed the same as (or lower than) the bar treatment, an additional research is warranted to reach to a consistent outcome.
This article reports for the first time on the lateral growth of PEO (plasma electrolytic oxidation) films on Al1050 alloy by the application of anodic pulse current in an alkaline electrolyte. Generation of microarcs was observed at the edges initially and then moved towards the central region with PEO treatment time. Disc type PEO film islands with about $20{\mu}m$ diameter were formed first and they grew laterally by the formation of new disc type PEO films at the edge of pre-formed PEO islands. The PEO film islands were found to be interconnected completely and form a continuous PEO film when generation of small size microarcs are terminated at the central part of the specimen, resulting in very smooth surface with low surface roughness less than $1{\mu}m$ of $R_a$. Further PEO treatment after the complete interconnection of PEO films islands showed local thickening of PEO films by vertical growth. It is concluded that very smooth PEO film surface can be obtained by lateral growth mechanism rather than vertical growth of them.
