The present work aimed to present the development of 'Funt', the augmented reality-based digital app as an educational tool for foreign language learning. Our work further evaluated the learning efficacy of the tool by the assessment of the three dependent measures including learning motivation, learning satisfaction, and learning involvement. With a learning app of 'Funt', students can use AR app to access recognition-based or location-based experiences such that any objects, artifacts, or media appear to be in the app. Students are then able to interact with the digital content by manipulating it to learn more about it. Students's engagement should also increase when they create their own experience in AR to demonstrate their understanding of a particular concept or words. Learning effects were evaluated on survey data collected from a hundred respondents aging six to nine years. One-group design for pre-test and post-test was utilized to examine the differences of learning efficacy by comparing the non-'Funt' group and the Funt group scores. A pairwise t-Test was performed for pairwise comparisons between two learning groups. The results indicate that the 'Funt' group scored significantly higher than the non-'Funt' group in the measures of learning motivation, learning satisfaction, and learning involvement. Overall, our results suggest that 'Funt' attracted the students' attention, provided them with a fun context to learn English vocabulary, and develop positive motivation and satisfaction towards vocabulary learning through AR technology.

This study suggests an effective online guide for foreign teachers who want to teach English in Korean schools. When designing this guide for overseas applicants, there should be a consistent analysis to reflect the process of the system. Thus, this paper provides an analysis and results for an integrated online guide to increase the efficiency based on the pedagogical framework for analysis of the 'ADDIE' model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The number of job applicants who wish to teach English in Korea is growing rapidly because Korea is one of the fastest growing economies in the world and the 'Korean Wave' has especially been experiencing significant changes with the development of social network services and digital technologies. As a result, overseas applicants' expectations regarding Korea when they are seeking information and applying is very high, but the aspects of the procedure provided by the government are somewhat disappointing. The paper presents customer needs and specific recommendation for each step of the application process to improve the guide's effectiveness.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify employment experiences of nurses caring for hospitalized foreign patients. Methods: For this study, 10 nurses caring for foreign patients for more than 6 months were chosen purposively. Data were collected through in-depth individual interviews from July to September 2013 and analyzed in terms of Giorgi's phenomenological methodology. Results: Five themes-clusters were identified from fifteen themes; 1) Awesome challenges; 2) Laborious dealing with barriers; 3) Acceptance of cultural differences; 4) Complete concentration of personal energy; 5) Taking a powerful step towards tomorrow. Conclusion: Results of this study reveal the significance of nurses' experiences in caring for foreign patients for the first time in Korea. The following are suggested: First, facilitation and training is necessary for language proficiency, communication skills and ability to understand cultural traits of foreign patients. Second, manuals and international guidelines for caring for foreign patients should be systematically developed to improve quality of healthcare services.

Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate health service delivery and attitudes, toward multi-cultural clients amongst community health practitioners (CHPs). Methods: A survey was conducted among 242 CHPs from December 10-22, 2015. The collected data were analyzed using chi-square test, t-test, and ANOVA using SPSS 18.0. Results: General awareness of multi-culturalism varied significantly by CHPs age and language ability. Additionally, utilization of services in accordance with the location of community health centers (CHCs) was significantly higher in rural areas than urban areas CHCs in post-partum maternal & neonate care giver service (in maternal child health), management of health educational programs and management of physical exercise (in implementing healthy life style) and networking resources in & outside of CHCs (in management of chronic disease). Conclusion: CHPs deliver health-care services to multi-cultural clients, but have not received sufficient training or education to serve these clients effectively. CHPs who received multi-cultural and foreign language training had more positive experiences with multi-cultural clients. This supports the needs for developing educational programs to enhance multi-cultural understanding amongst CHPs.

Purpose: This study was conducted to examine and compare satisfaction with Korean health care services for Americans, Chinese and Russians who resided in Korea. Methods: A questionnaire was distributed to 252 participants (81 Americans, 89 Chinese, 82 Russians). Three focus group interviews were subsequently conducted in order to obtain a greater understanding of participants' experience and perspectives. Results: The average satisfaction score was 3.09, with Americans and Russians showing significantly higher scores than Chinese. Overall, participants reported higher satisfaction in 'Facility', 'Quality of care' and 'Nursing services' as opposed to 'Information/education'. 'Care with cultural respect' as well as communication related services. Data from the focus group interviews were categorized into 12 sub-categories, 7 categories and 2 themes. The two themes were common experience and contrasting experience. Common experience included 4 categories, 'Quality of care', 'Hospital facility and health care system', 'Language barrier' and 'Information and education'. Contrasting experience included 3 categories, 'Medical cost', 'Health care personnel' and 'Accessibility'. Conclusion: Results of this study provide basic knowledge on foreign residents' satisfaction and experience with Korean health care services. Further research is needed with foreigners from different cultural backgrounds. Administrative and educational efforts are required to improve communication skills and cultural competency.

The purpose of this study to examine the status of Korean language education, and to examine the future direction between with korean and China. The Korean language course organized by the European Union Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which selects and conducts consignment companies through annual competition every year since 2002, In order to these goals and needs, it is imperative to develop a curriculum that enhances job skills. As Korean language education, a point that is necessary to clarify terms more clearly, which 'vocational education purpose' is widely used in the term of 'business education'. With all languages education, Korean language education is not meant to teach Korean to foreigners, but it is a process by which learners can apply Korean language learned in classroom to various situations, while outside the classroom through teaching and learning. Otherwise, the curriculum in the four-year college Korean language department in China, which is lacking in acquiring the ability to achieve the Korean language education goals and social needs. Korean language education in China is one of foreign language education and it is different from foreign language education such as English education as Minor Languages education.

About 3.9 million apps and 24 primary categories can be approved on Apple iTunes Store. Making accurate categorization can potentially receive many benefits for developers, app stores, and users, such as improving discoverability and receiving long-term revenue. However, current categorization problems may cause usage inefficiency and confusion, especially for cross-attribution, etc. This study focused on evaluating the reliability of app categorization on Apple iTunes Store by using several rounds of inter-rater reliability statistics, locating categorization problems based on Machine Learning, and making more accurate suggestions about representative functionality stems for each primary category. A mixed methods research was performed and total 4905 popular apps were observed. The original categorization was proved to be substantial reliable but need further improvement. The representative functionality stems for each category were identified. This paper may provide some fusion research experience and methodological suggestions in categorization research field and improve app store's categorization in discoverability.

Recently, the number of patent applications have been increasing rapidly every year as the importance of protecting intellectual property rights becomes more important. Patents must be inventive and have novelty. Especially, the novelty implies that the corresponding invention is not the same as the previous invention. To confirm the novelty, prior art search must be conducted before and after the application. The target of prior art search should include not only Korean patents but also foreign patents. Search of foreign patents should be supported by multilingual search techniques. However, a dictionary-based naive approach shows a limitation because some technical concepts are represented in different terms according to each nation. For example, a Korean term and a Japanese term may not be synonym even though they represent the same technical concept. In this paper, we propose a new method to map semantic similarity between technical terms in Korean patents and Japanese patents. To investigate different representations in each nation for the same technical concept, we identified and analyzed pairs of patents those are mutually connected with priority claim relationship. By performing an experiment with real-world data, we showed that our approach can reveal semantically similar technical terms in other language successfully.

This research conducted between March and December of 2005 has focused on analyzing a diverse range of educational services provided by English native-speaking instructors teaching in Korea. This study includes quantitative research findings from 238 university students. This dual-semester research study focuses on our most recent Korean EFL (English as a Foreign Language) programs provided for university students who wish to improve their English ability. Many students hope to partake in lectures taught by Native English Speaking teachers (hereafter NS teachers), and many universities are also willing to open additional courses for these students. However, in order for lectures to be most effective, NS instructors need to be appropriately trained or qualified teachers in order to successfully educate their students. Furthermore, NS teachers need to constantly review their teaching styles and strategies to allow for professional development and to ensure an improvement in their teaching methodology. Overall, this research provides whole English lecture views of NS teachers that is data-driven regarding designing, implementing, evaluating, and reforming the education of English taught by NS teachers working in Korea.

The ambulance service time interval, in particular the response time, has been used as an important indicator for the quality control of ambulance services in that it can be improved to increase the probability of survival and decrease the sequela-related disability. Based on the 2011~2014 Prehospital Care Reports in a metropolitan city, this study analyzed the time interval of ambulance services considering the patient's characteristics and chief complaints. If the definition of the time of ambulance services can be refined further, and a variety of economic and social factors and local characteristics would can be analyzed, the quality of the ambulance service is expected to be enhanced significantly.
